And be super duper careful and thoughtful about browser extensions, the sheer number of people reporting problems that can be traced to them are huge, from 'something went wrong' error messages to the person just saying 'hey, I can't get my messages to send, it's like nothing happens'.

make sure you know the person or company who made it is somehow trustworthy, and not someone who might be doing malware. Loads of people also have reported their account somehow gets compromised and they weren't sure how - make sure whomever provides that extension that can read your chats is coming from someone you trust with that level of information access to you and your account.

ChatGPT has a limited token window as far as I can tell. It will always cut off at some point. So when it gets to a cut off, it usually fails it’s last operation, so for now you just have to say “retry the last operation and then continue your tasks” 🤷‍♂️

I truly was trying to help. All the resources use an API Key, and you only want to use an account login, which would require reverse engineering or scraping ChatGPT's website, which is against the Terms

ChatGPT Plus gives you the ability to access GPT-4 through the website or app. It doesn't give you any credits or access to the API directly. As Mando said, trying to scrape the website would break the TOS. I think the exact clause it would brea would be 2. (c) (ii)

I think what I am seeing means that the AI gets a description of the image when it is uploaded, and that can be hallucinated at any point after. So I show it again with every new question.

it converts the image into "data that the AI can read", in the same way it turns text into "data the AI can read".. then, the AI produces more of this data, which is turned back into data that humans can read

Dalle experience: Images generated have large number of spelling mistakes even after giving exact message and instructing to use as is in the image...frustrating...took 3 hours to try different prompts but could not get satisfactory result even after pointing mistakes

Dall-E 3 does not yet have vision abilities, so it can't tell if it has spelled something correctly. It's not that it's ignoring the spelling in your prompt, but that it is still not perfect with drawing text. I've gotten some great results with text, but IMO OpenAI really oversold the text capabilities and cherry picked images to promote before release.

Ok, I gave simple prompt to generate image with message happy dussehra and it would show happy dussehira, seems it's trying to generate text based on sound rather than using spelling given in text as is, also sometimes given text is not show at all, even after pointing it regenerates without any text...these are some issues faced

I've noticed it can spell commonly used words and phrases with far higher accuracy than uncommon words and phrases.

It's the most advanced of its kind that I know of, far better than the ones before - and not perfect yet.

I haven't been able to find a way to prompt engineer Dall-E to spell well, or even to 'art well' for the things it isn't actually really well trained for.

The stuff it does well, wow. Hold onto your hats, it's awesome. But there's stuff it really, really can't do yet.

Seeds would propel images to a new level. I'm confident with that statement.

That way, images would have a reference point, and you can distill ideas into a much more refined state by telling it how to blend the seeds together to create an image more to how you intended.

There's just only so much you can say with words in comparison to a reference point that doesn't drastically change in unintentional ways.

It's possible. If you're connected to Wi-Fi and not cellular you may be able to reboot your router (I would turn it off for 30 seconds) to force the refresh. On a computer, resetting the network settings is not too hard (may require admin permission). On an iPhone: I'm sorry, I'm not sure. Clearing browser cache/history wasn't enough for my own problem.

I honestly think I will just wait and see what happens. Right now there's no 100% satisfying solution to what you're talking about, I agree we need seeds, but I find that deliberately injecting limited variation into the generated prompts can make up for the lack of seeds somewhat. Like:

"Keep the prompt for image 3 exactly the same as last time, except change some of the words to synonyms."

Often that's enough to get interesting variation that you would otherwise need seeds for. Even if in principle you're using synonyms extremely close in meaning that don't alter the meaning of the description at all.

Also, making sure you're aware that you can also just have a voice conversation with 3.5, and that is tokens and you have crazy many. Someone said they talked to the 3.5 model for hours straight, never hit cap.

You might really need 4 for what your conversation was about, but voice will work with either.

Does anyone know the max input dimensions for images with gpt-4V? I've been sending in some scrolling screenshots and once an image gets too long it doesn't process it at all. The images are uploading just fine - they're all well under 20mb. It's just that when they get too long the model doesn't process them at all and just pretends like there was no input. It's hard to judge on token limit here since i'm not really passing in any text - it's just an image and a few works like "Summarize this blog". Afaik gpt-4v isn't doing straight OCR -> text processing but even if it was the screenshots are much less than the max input length

I don't think it would come up with similar images if you did say "keep everything the same", simply because it likes to add a little bit of extra flair to each new image, which snowballs into a completely different image the more you ask it to alter its iterations.

With seeds, it would, hypothetically lock the image's overall layout, and crop out a particular area, then "trace" over the area of alteration that would aim around your specificity, and blend it with the original image. This way, it would give four duplicate "original" images with changes only focused around a particular section of the image.

Existing chats stay as you created them, you can use either 3.5 or 4 to make new chats.

Additionally, if you start a chat in 4, and later run out of messages for the time period, you get a choice to continue with 3.5 - if you accept, that switch is permanent.

Very, very rarely people report a message with 4 suddenly turns into a message with 3.5, that also appears permanent (never happened to me, might be very rare, I've seen two talk about it).

As far as new chats go, not only GPT-4, but you can pick variants of it, like Dall-E or plugins.

You may want to check your settings, beta features, to turn on some additional models to use in GPT-4.

Whatever model you start with, be it Dall-E/GPT or Plugins or 3.5, you use that for the whole chat (unless 4 turns to 3.5 as said above).

So Wolfram is doing all the work behind the scenes, and ChatGPT packages it all together for you.

Hello! You can try a few things, here's a loose kinda list, try a handful of these maybe, if you haven't!

• Disable VPN

A few things can be going on.

1. Every time you ask a question, it picks how to answer from a different part of its training data.

Some of that data is just wrong. It can't tell without extra training - and maybe your game wasn't trained a lot. Even if it was, rare 'confusion' can happen, it's just a bit more common without training.

To fix that, just start a new chat or regen the answer. But once the conversation starts to go bad - don't continue it, because the mistakes are already part of the 'facts of the conversation' that the model is using.

2. Maybe something that was said was confusing or contradicted. That can really throw the model for a loop, and make it start saying crazy stuff.

Again, a new conversation can help.

3. Maybe the model doesn't understand something. Asking it to explain the whole situation can tell you a lot. Also it just sometimes uses a word by mistake, a lot like people can.

Hey guys/gals how can I actually chat with someone from openai? from the support website if I use the chat bubble, I can only report bugs or provide feedback. The people here are a self-selected bunch of folks with OAI accounts. Not everyone talks about problems, but not everyone has the same problems.

OAI recently did a bunch of new features ChatGPT+ rollouts, Dall-E, Vision, Voice, and Bing-assisted search.

That seemed to drive a big uptick in new ChatGPT+ memberships. More users in a short time can mean systems scaling and more issues until that's handled.

Myself, I'm not getting any network errors. I see some slowness, rarely severe. So I don't have much to talk about.

Things that tend to cause problems, be that VPN programs, browser extensions, and some network settings, maybe are more of a problem for some recently, been advising as many as possible to check that stuff, even trying different devices, browsers, checking on different networks, app vs web.

Most people who report problems also report that they found a way to make their problem better, and it's often one of those things.

• Many people mentioned that removing their MaxAI extension fixed their problem, other extensions might be worth disabling to check.

• Some reported they could use GPT-4 only with incognito mode on their chrome browser but the default mode didn't. If this works for you, that means the issue is probably related to your data stored related to the site, or your extensions. Its easy to clear site specific data or disable extensions, try that.

• Several report this worked for them:

They went to their account (Clicking their email on the chatGPT web browser page)

They clicked on 'my plan'

They clicked on 'manage my subscription'

That opens a new browser, which they closed.

They could successfully send GPT-4 messages again.

• A few people reported specific browsers worked, but not others. One named Safari, another Firefox with a fresh install.

• One person reported that they tried these steps, but nothing worked. But they contacted https://help.openai.com/en/articles/6614161-how-can-i-contact-support. Then a bit later their GPT-4 was just working. Probably fixed on OAI's side - so do reach out if the other tricks don't help you.

Yes, browser and network configurations can vary among device types like computers and smartphones. You may need to try a different variety of things on one than you would another. Try different browsers, VPNs and Web Protection off, disable browser extensions, check DNS settings if you've altered them, it can unfortunately be caused by a lot of different things. These are among the solutions others have had to try to resolve.

Hey, adding to what Solbus said.

ADA (advanced data analysis) can do everything the normal GPT-4 model can, plus it can actually run Python code within a sandbox for you, so you don't have to worry about putting it in an IDE.

But it also means you may not see the exact same code the AI is, because you do see the corrections, but... at least to me it's not a straight, simple copy/paste to get and run that code myself.

If you're ready to run the code in your own IDE or some browser environment, you may find that the not-ADA models (like default) work really well for your needs. You can run the code it helps you write, then paste any traceback or errors, and it can talk you through the fix.

ADA, it will try to run the code, get whatever error (you get to see too) and then it'll usually immediately try one, then another, then maybe several other fixes if that didn't work, before giving up and asking you if you want it to keep trying, or try something else. So you could end up with some code that's kinda hard for you to follow, because all those edits happened as it tried to fix one way or another.

If you run the code yourself, and apply the fixes, you may be happier with the result.

But both GPT-3.5 and 4 are good at Python in general. I don't know much about Flask, but if you do, you can judge by asking it to do a few things in Flask and seeing if you like the results.

As for 'best application', that's hard to say, but GPT is pretty darn good in general.

There's currently no adjustment for that, but I encourage you to #1070006151938314300 with ideas how they can implement making it better for how you use it specifically. Be that a setting you can toggle, so instead of listening for you to pause, it waits for you to click 'done', or a slider for how long of a pause before it assumes you are done, or any other ideas!

We see so many people with problems getting their ChatGPT, especially + features to work, that are linked back to 'well, turning off that browser extension works at last!', and others who find they somehow have an issue with a compromised account and unknown folks using their account.

That may have little to do with extensions, however I'd be careful and thoughtful, and be sure I really trusted any company I might be giving access to my account or how it functions to.

• Many people mentioned that removing their MaxAI extension fixed their problem, other extensions might be worth disabling to check.

• Some reported they could use GPT-4 only with incognito mode on their chrome browser but the default mode didn't. If this works for you, that means the issue is probably related to your data stored related to the site, or your extensions. Its easy to clear site specific data or disable extensions, try that.

• Several report this worked for them:

They went to their account (Clicking their email on the chatGPT web browser page)

That opens a new browser, which they closed.

so the voice chat on the iphone is an awesome experience - but omg - is it possible to change the system message? ignoring the fact that it always gives at least one extra sentence than it needs - has someone found any way of stopping it saying anything like "is there anything else", "if you need any assistance just ask", "what can I help you with today" etc etc - whatever I say to it to say "don't do that ever ever ever again"- it just finds a different way of wording it. it's repeating the question it heard. That can help, because if Whisper messes up and told the AI something you didn't say, if it doesn't repeat the question back to you, you could miss getting a clue that there's a problem.

In general, try to tell it what to do, don't even bother telling it what not to do unless it's impossible to find a way to exclude what you don't want.

Like keeping a dog off a couch, instead of 'no' or 'stay off the couch',

'Sit-stay' or throw a stick for it to chase, or offer it a treat to eat. All those things get in the way of the dog getting on the couch, and give the dog something else to think about besides that couch.

I tried to ask "Typical colors of a Great Dane" - whisper heard 'great game' - AI answered that as briefly as possible too. As I said, whisper can mess up, and the only way you'd know is the AI tells you, or later you read it.

As I disconnected, it thought I said "Thank you for watching." - Whisper messes up sometimes more than others.

However, I can't duplicate your problem, at least not with a chat started through typing, with that given prompt and no custom instructions, the AI was saying 1-4 word answers just fine.

So, the AI can write like it usually does, or write in codeblocks, or use part of LaTeX to make fancy, even pretty special writing. LaTeX is often used for formulas in math and science, it's bigger, and can even be colorful.

But the model only sometimes uses LaTeX correctly, and when it messes up, strange and ugly things can happen, like what you showed.

To use LaTeX correctly, the model must format it like this:

Depending on how the AI misuses the format for LaTeX, several weird things can go wrong.

Two basic ways to fix that:

1. Tell the AI to just put it in plaintext, don't use any special formating. This may not make it easier to read, but it will remove any crazy stuff and is simple and easy for you and the AI to ask for and do.

2. Tell it how to properly format LaTeX so it displays properly:

There's not much to see there - the 'magic' happens before it types the output. If you watch the searching bar, you can see it go to various pages, even scroll them, go back, search again, go to another page. Most of the pages it names I saw the window telling me it was going to.

However, after the search finishes, there's no viewable by us record of what the AI searched, only what it says it searched, and the links it provides.

If this helps, 50/3 hrs is a bit like 1 message or regen of the AI reply every 3.5 minutes, and you'll never wait (or wait at most a minute).

The AI needs time to answer anyway, so I often look away, do something for a couple minutes after I send a message, then look back to chatGPT, read, and respond.

If I need to have a rapid conversation, I usually check time, have the fast chat, then count messages. Let's say I start that at 5 PM. At 5:15, I'm done, and I count and see I sent 20 messages.

That's 70 minutes of messages, starting from 5 PM, so at 6:10 I'm back on my 3.5 minutes between messages and never wait schedule.

it's already 5:15, so I pick something to do for less than an hour. Cook and eat dinner? Homework, email, discord? Watch some anime, play a game, take a nap, walk the dog, do the dishes?

Then I'm back and using my 3.5 minute wait again.

Kind of a tough question to answer. To offer an analogy, think about when Apple releases a new iPhone. People don't ask, "Okay so they released the iPhone 42, why haven't they started working on the iPhone 43 yet?" GPT-4 is still very much an active work in progress, and LLMs like this don't have well-defined release schedules yet like products like smartphones do.

So GPT-5 will probably come in the future, but it's not like OpenAI is actively "choosing" not to work on it right now, because I'm sure in some sense they are, inasfar as they're always trying to improve their models.

The difference between GPT-3 (and 3.5) and 4 isn't one of quality as far as I understand it, just quantity. And OpenAI are definitely still pumping up those numbers 💪💪

--- Beta and Apps have stopped working ---
I logged into ChatGPT (Plus with Beta and Apps activated) today I had a chat yesterday where I was using the apps specifically Whimzical. I sent an instruction to ChatGPT and got the following response. "The previous model used in this conversation is unavailable. We've switched you to the latest default model."

I opened a new string in ChatGPT to use the app and found that they are no longer in the drop down under Chatgpt4. I checked settings and Beta has been removed.

I attempted to log out and log in and got the same message as @fresh rapids ""We ran into an issue while signing you in, please take a break and try again soon" I got back in by going to Incognito mode but still apps and Beta are down.

I put this in the lounge originally. Apologies. Down detector is showing an increase in reported issues in the last 24 hours.

There's also a separate image gen cap that hasn't been clearly defined yet. You might run into it if you gen a high # in a short time, and even then it'll probably just time you out a few mins tops. Otherwise yes just the GPT-4 cap

Not GPT-Bing but GPT-4 with Bing. Gathering current data takes time and it might browse the web when you don't want to, thus wasting time. You always have 50 prompts / 3 hours for GPT-4, doesn't matter where you use it

how bad is my luck, i totally bought 3 time plus.

First time

• It said GPT 4 isn't available, because it updating(it waste 20 some days)
  Second time
• They have coding issue, each time you upload code it will show network error(that waste like 14 days)
• After they fix it, it reply something random(to end of my subscription)
  Third time
• No image upload allowed
• No GPT 4 for plus user
  And all of those things happened on the day I bought plus(I just bought plus today and it broken)

Also for GPT API

First time they said need pay for GPT 4

• First month I used api, but too little it not enough to pay
• Second month I paid with my API but it ask me wait end of the Third month
• Middle of Third month they said anyone who linked to there card can use GPT 4
• But people paid on Second month still need wait end of the month
• And I used money + wait longer than people who haven't paid

Also struggle with my human vertifiaction loop today. No VPN. Tried with two account in Chrome, Safari and Firefox and still can't reslove it. It worked okay with same acccount in my smartphone andriod app and someone else laptop. Updated the Chrome. Cleaned up the Chrome and Sarfari's cookies. What should I do for next step?

Like I was told I'd have messages available again in about 30 minutes, but I'm not sure where/when that timer is starting from? Or when/why it gets reset? I thinkered for a whole while how to protect forms from spam… all solutions are human-unfriendly.
So I implemented a gpt api spam detector.

Works like charm.

Now however I’m worried about allowed or not.

• is it ok in general to use gpt as a spam detector?
• what if some mignon evil gnome starts sending in unallowed content (porn links/offers, for example, is a common spam) ? Of course the ai would reject it, but it’ll also figure as submitted by my key. If I set a user in the request is that enough to protect my account?

Hi guys, I'm stuck on this problem: I suddenly got the "we detected suspicious behavior" problem but I really can't figure out what did I do wrong. The result is that I can still login and view my conversation but ChatGPT wont answer me no more without any feedback (no error message whatsoever). It's not working even from my mobile browser: seems like an account issue! The thing I usually do is leaving my browser opened for days, I dunno if this is an actual threat for the security of the service but, in any case, I didn't want to harm anything. Will paying for GPT-4 (as I was going to do in these days) solve this problem? Can someone please help me? :/
