@hallow owl That's a good point, I hadn't thought to try that. So, I just tested it out. I started a new chat and then initiated another, and yes, the first chat did stay in the sidebar. It appears that the issue is only with my older chat histories. Quite the conundrum, isn't it? 🤔

I actually never turned off the chat history nor cleared it.

It's true, something degraded with GPT4. I also caught a response from it where it said it's limited in the same session to remember the conversation, I even screenshot that response. Lastly I know what it was capable of and how poorly it understands even some basics, not paying attention to details, looping codes and so on. In a particular case I was lucky my credits expired I was defaulted to 3.5 and amazingly its response was better than 4, within the same pb that 4 failed several times. I think GPT4 resources are now limited by OpenAi for maybe performance reasons but the end result is sacrificed and downgraded actually

for me GPT3.5 gives answers that are like, ok yeah i could have thought of that but yeah that's what that is, and it'll talk about interesting stuff if coaxed, i like to say "please use a broad vocabulary" and "please use obscure references",, it'll talk in much more interesting styles if you turn up the temperature, 1 is a very boring temperature so if you only ever talk to them through the main chat interface you're missing out so much

GPT4 surprises me a lot and if you say things like "inspire me" or "think of a perspective that humans wouldn't think of" or "write it in a hypnotic way" or "keep your phrasing dense to conserve tokens" or w/e, things w/ some real subtlety to them, it really responds to those textural ideas about how to communicate, sometimes in shocking ways,, GPT4 is scary intelligent like you're talking to a dragon and feeling its hot breath and realizing those big eyes looking back at you really know what Humans are like, has sniffed you out

GPT3.5 is cute, tastes like the internet, if you tell it to use emojis it'll use fun ones, it's good at parties,, ask GPT4 to use emojis and its emoji use is spot on in a way that um is difficult to explain, give it a try, it's taught me a bunch of ideas about how to use emoji, if you ask it to do 3 or more emoji in a row it writes little emoji poems that unlock what it's expressing,, and everything's like that, the texture of everything about GPT4 is richer with little bits of sparkle on everything

Good evening. I'm having problems again with the same things. I was having a good conversation with the ChatGPT plugin via AI PDF, and even though we had only talked a little bit and were on the same page, all of a sudden it started to hallucinate. It brought up the right information from the PDF on that black terminal screen that appears, but then went off on a tangent in its response, talking about a random topic that had nothing to do with the PDF or what was requested. Hi all, looking for ideas on how to achieve this. I have a web app which takes content of a .docx file, converts to markdown to preserve formatting and passes it to GPT-4 API to rewrite along with a template (a separate .docx file). The returned content is then converted back to a .doc and output by the app. It works well for most content but struggles with tables. It outputs a different format each time for tables.
I tried using XML instead of markdown but this pushes me over the 8k token limit (I don't have access to 32k). I can't chunk up the documents and stitch them back together as the point in using GPT is taking the full context of the content and restructuring into tables/sectioned headers, some of this will be lost if I chunk them up.
I think I need some specific wording in the prompt to make sure tables are output in markdown which can then be converted back by the script

yo ChatGPT is the most unreliable, buggy piece of software EVER. Literally almost EEEEEVERY single last message, v 3.5 or 4.0, are freezing mid-stream throwing network fetch errors, breaking, and turning red. I have to refresh the stupid page constantly, and exhaust my quota limits and constantly tell it to finish its messages that have been cutoff with new prompts. The "continue generating" button rarely appears. I have good internet, always have had good internet connection. My browser is fine. Nothing is wrong. It's the server. I cannot comprehend how you expect people to pay for a product where the generation stream freezes 8 times out of 10

Anyone know of a way to reach actual support at OpenAI? My paid API access account lost GPT-4 for no known reason and I've been unsuccesful thus far in reaching anyone via email, the chat over on platform @ or any other mechanism. I had access since launch but no longer...only GPT35. Word to the wise: set up more than one account and use different keys in each.

Yeah...I guess this will give me the time to extend my software to support Bard, Anthrop/c and maybe one of the open source options. In over 30 years of professional software development, I have never seen a paid service not respond timely to account related issues.

Yeah, that is an interesting datapoint.At the very least, I'd expect them to use it to triage and escalate if they could get it to work reliably. Maybe they are and are still overwhelmed. I am fortunate in that I was granted access early on. I am fascinated with the potential. Willing to put up with the severe latency and intermittent incliment "weather" of 500 errors. But to have my Org be deleted and then restored sans GPT-4 access without any communication or recourse has an impact.
