I'm already seeing a problem with the 25 message cap, as I want to use GPT-4 for language learning. 25 messages is nothing if you're actually trying to conversate (with speech) back and forth.

So that likely makes plugins like "Speak" useless

Or well, not as beneficial as they could be, because you could only exchange 25 messages before having to wait 3 hours. That is a major block for language learning

It turns out that with plugins, you can now actually play a proper game of Hangman with GPT-4 without it switching the word up on you by telling it to first hide its word in a plugin query [because GPT-4's input to the plugin is collapsed in a box by default]!

There are some free options but they come with drawbacks.

There is Bing and Phind that use GPT4 but they also search the web and the web context might make the answers worse as the answers tend to be from superficial reading.

I read somewhere that Poe allows one GPT 4 prompt per day but I do not know if that is true and I do not know much about Poe.

I read somewhere that in the spaces section of Huggingface, someone is hosting GPT4 but there are long waiting times from what I read.

Currently, I am not yet sure whether I should pay for GPT 4 as I have not been impressed when it comes to coding.

How are you asking it to analyze the book? Unless it's super well-known, if you are asking it directly to analyze a book without ever feeding the book's content, it is likely to hallucinate false information about the book and this will likely be true for gpt 4 as well.

there are plugins for youtube videos via their transcripts. I recently saw that some videos might purposely insert a prompt injection to mess with your chat. That could be a serious issue if you wrote personal information and gave chatgpt access to the internet or your local file system

Trying both web-GPT4 and Bard to write stuff for Godot 4. I swear on me mum if another one of these chat bots instantiates a File instead of using FileAccess.open() or uses spaces instead of tabs I'm going to burn down a server farm.

And, while that may be true, there's also the flip side of the coin. Normally I, as a pro-writer, would need to wait weeks or months to get feedback from an editor for a scene. Writing is a solitary, frustrating business, but the waiting for feedback is agonizing - especially when the feedback is poor. So, I find a benefit in ChatGPT for feedback. I write the scene, it gives me feedback, and the work I've been producing is done much faster and better because my mood is drastically improved. Also, since I don't have to wait so long between feedbacks, my memory of the story is better and there's fewer loose ends that slip through the cracks. I haven't seen anyone talking about this as a benefit for writers.

it's throttled to 25 messages per 3 hours but I think you can still continue a thread for very long, the bigger problem then is 8k token context window, so after 8k token's worth of words it will forget what happened at the beginning

If you subscribe inside the official OpenAi ChatGPT app then you will have access through browser too as it's tied to your account, but make sure it is the official app as subscriptions to non official apps will not carry on to the official website

I finally got plugins and it hit me again, how big this will be. I'm assuming when we get image enabled gpt4 with plugins It'll be super easy to just take a pic of your location and ask it for directions or a good restaurant at walking distance. Or you could take a pic of your fridge and have it to customize and plan your meals and grocery list. man, chatgpt 4's text adventure & story capabilities seem so much better than chatgpt 3.5. but the damned limit is so annoying. all i wanna do is play an ok text adventure. and for generating stories, the parts are so short that i have to waste continues. anyone know how to make each response longer (tried with an insane word limit request, but alas it can't count words. also put words to encourage it to go longer, such as incredibly descriptive, etc) without asking it again? i got it to generate 4,800 characters at once (with a second prompt), so im not sure of the limits. i can't really nail down the exact specifics on what it censors but my story that i generated involved those things.

and tbh not really for my usecase (because of the message limits), but i didnt have any option. another ai chat assistant generated significantly better stories and dialogue but i can not buy a subscription in my region

My perspective from someone who doesn't use GPT-4 for programming and instead just uses it to generate creative stories... eh, yeah I feel like GPT-4 is good enough to pay for, and it's noticeably better than the free versions. I kinda use it to make quick and low-quality fanfics and short stories lol

I had an issue with the wolfram alpha plugin. I mean, it’s good that gpt can use a calculator and knowledge base, but in the end, it’s GPT that is using the calculator, wolfram alpha will of course get the entered equation correct, but the thing is, GPT may not necessarily enter the correct equation in the first place. It definitely doesn’t solve all the issues with math that gpt has, it’s of course still super impressive what it can do when you combine both, but it’s still in beta and still hinges on a deeper issue with LLM and math.

sometimes (inconsistently) you can get it to show the continue generating button next to regenerate response. someone showed me (consistently, i think) how to get it show on a story prompt.

so it can generate thousands of words in a single prompt lol. i guess ill have to find out manually.
