At its core it applies pattern recognition. It doesnt fully understand what you ask it, but its seen similar questions and then provides a similar answer. Usually if it explains its train of thought, you can follow that, but the individual calculations will be off.

the AI does not actually "evaluates" what is written and simply saying a paradox will not cause it to "think forever"

Once you start advanced stuff you spend 3.4 of the time trying to get it to understand you as it gets totally confused and then "You've reached the current usage cap for GPT-4. You can continue with the default model now, or try again after" . for a plus user i find it incredibly frustrating. i wont use 3.5 as it pointless

I did in the past, and I still do for prompts with many shotting or large context history, but I tend to work on prompting iteratively now and remove waste, I try and find more compact prompts, usuallky by asking ChatGPT how to compress it

yea, if your end output format is not json, but something more esoteric, then using json as the GPT output schema and then using conventional code to translate to the desired format... super handy

the system / assistant is basically how it works and the layout of how automod on it works

i've been using the chatgpt edit tool a lot recently, if it starts to give you output that you can see does not quite match what you wanted, a quick stop generating and then editing the prompt to handle the undesired output is a super quick way to narrow down on what you want

I've consulted for clients about getting OpenAI products working in their businesses, but I've not built an app. I come from a coding background so, for me, it's been a real time saver and it also lets you tackle projects you would normally leave to others due to lack of experience. ChatGPT is an incredible inferencing engine, it can carry context through text over many pages using subtle cues and references, it's still limited to what it can call upon for detail, it may know the general area of discussion but it will not be able to recall specifics
