So initially clicking on your link didn't work on Firefox, but then I disabled my Bitdefender AV and it somehow worked. It looks like there's a connection that kept getting blocked by Bitdefender

I'm currently setting up my workstation using Ubuntu with a dual boot. I use ChatGPT as a daily part of my workflow and its become a vital tool. I have logged into chat.openai.com on my Ubuntu machine using firefox browser and it will not load. I am wondering if anyone else has an issue with accessing openai's chat site on Ubuntu. I know there shouldn't be a limitation with the operating system but I am unsure what to try next I've tried google chrome as well as Firefox and so far nothing. I am only at the main screen with a spinny wheel of death.

@hallow owl I have done some housekeeping on my laptop. Deleted cache, history and internet temp files. When I restarted browser GPT-4 was an almost empty page with just the side panel no history, message window and the little spinning timer at the top. I sent a "Hi" message but the black rectangle at the response line kept blinking forever. However, it still working normally on my iPhone. Same account.

I experienced a very similar behaviour today.

A GPT-4 chat I've been training to be my personal assistant was very buggy all day, kept forgetting it's role and messing up the schedule it could've easily handled. Then the chat crashed with an error message, then my entire chat history was gone for 3 minutes and I couldnt do anything in ChatGPT. As my Chat history returned I still got the same error message trying to access my personal assistant GPT-4 model.

about 2 minutes later that returned but it forgot my entire input starting from message 1, while the text itself luckily was still saved in the chat.

Unfortunately it made me lose about 4 - 6 hours (didnt exactly track it) of trying to get my personal assistant GPT-4 model to do a good job, but now since the crash, having fed the previous inputs once more, now it's smooth like butter and actually acting like a real personal assistant, it's doing the job it was supposed to from the start.

Export the Excel file as CSV. Rename the CSV as HTM. Open the HTM in Microsoft Edge and use bing copilot in creative mode. You're welcome, I only discovered that option today myself.

but as long as you dont need chat history, it's basically GPT-4 + bing and/or browsing

Creative mode is basically GPT-4 + bing, while accurate mode is bing + gpt-4. Creative mode therefore works much better.

And as copilot accesses your open browser tabs, it can work with the CSV data just fine

ok, sorry for all the questions. You have run into a rare but reproducible chromium browser bug, it's not on OpenAI's side but it's chromium, will affect Brave, Chrome, Edge and Opera. The workaround for the time being is to use Firefox. I know this is not always ideal but it's the only solution I know of for now after all the troubleshooting steps we took.

I think a warning before banning GPT users for VPN usage may be a lighter approach. Some people have no idea it's not allowed, so it may come as a surprise. What if they use vpn on their phone and it's enabled globally, therefore triggering a ban on their account.

This way it's easier to find and you can refer them to the thread directly which should contain those steps to fix the issue until the team patches that issue. Would make your work a bit easier than writing the steps everytime someone has that issue.

the issue is that there is a identical bug but with a 429 error or a 503 error on some resources that displays the same symptoms. I haven't found the lowest common denominator to work out which is which

Best way to go about it if they don't use that VPN but still get a similar error (pehaps 429 or 504) is to ask the users if they are using another VPN or an Antivirus software, you could try ask them which VPN or Antivirus software they are using, if they are using Antivirus and have them add the website to the exceptions list or if that doesn't work have them temporarily disable the antivirus just to check if that's what causing the issue, same with other VPNs. (also clearing cache and cookies is not a bad idea either, sometime it could be caused by that). If nothing works it doesn't hurt to have them check their error log in Developer Console and send it your way so that you can talk with the team and see if they have any ideas how to go about it.
