See, here is where my idea for using the API was more conservative. To make it less resource-intensive, my idea is to have the game keep track of some key user actions and decisions around a quest. Then when the quest is ready to turn in, feed them into the AI along with a premade line of dialogue, and just have the AI slightly modify the dialogue to take account of user actions. Like, "I told you to smash the spiders, not my whole cellar!!!!" This would only be called once or twice per quest, so waay less resource-intensive than having ChatGPT literally run the NPC AI. 😆

Atm I'd describe my local LLM as more a GPT 2.5. It has 13 billion parameters. Way more than GPT-2, but not even remotely close to GPT-3, let alone GPT-4. And it basically eats almost all of my RAM. I have to close everything but my browser to even get it to load.

to run a considerable size model, you need to go on cloud at least, and it wouldn't be too cheap. there are some smaller LlaMA models, but really depend on how good you want the model to be, and if you even have enough data to fine tune it.

For me it will get stuck in loops. I think in order for autoGPT to work well, it needs to be trained to think like a scientist using the same supervised and RL proximity learning methods as GPT 3.5 and 4 was trained. And then for autoGPT to treat NLP models like plugins instead. Therefore it could then interact with the real world in terms of sensory awareness. Mine as well add some precepts on there too and give it vision for example. And wallah, AGI simple as that.

I don't think I'm in a position to really abuse it properly (I have a job as an sw dev that's gotten pretty busy recently). I'd likely set up autogpt and proof-of-concept it into a game mod or something where an NPC can react a little better. I'd have to start with some crazy fancy prompt like "you are this npc and these are your limitations, this is what the world looks like, here's a screenshot from your POV", or that turned out to be impossible, I'd probably look into some way of automated mod development (kinda like automated game development) -> have it build me NPC characters for a 2D sidescroller like starbound or terraria or something, or bosses, or something like that.

Mostly I'm interested in exploring the possibilities....

Posibilities:

• AI-driven quest system
• Smart NPC interactions
• Dynamic ecosystem/environment effects

I'd also really like to make something simple with python that just clones an existing game (probably a top-down thing or something) but that uses auto-gpt somewhere (or maybe for a lot of things) for generating the world, creating pixel-art assets using generative tools and stuff like that, but it would likely be very expensive to run.

Definitely yes. But in some respects, the free version does a good job too, so I would highly recommend it to programmers, since the gpt4 code writes great.

You don't. Instead focus on objectively extracting the minimal information required to summarize actions by the embedded model for a human to make a directing decision.

For me, 100%. It's been a major productivity booster, but also for custom apps it's produced higher quality responses. In Python I call the davinci-003 model
