We as mods are always in very close coordination with the team.
I have been with the team for a few months now and try to answer questions from the community at all times.

🎮 Planet Crossword Treasure Tournament 🎮

Calling all Citizens of Altaris

Join us for the Treasure ecosystem Planet Crossword tournament hosted by Hovercats! 8 Treasure communities including The Beacon will compete in a crossword tournament for bragging rights and a wide range of prizes

**What is Planet Crossword? **
It's a collaborative crossword game made for groups of any size!

**How will the games work? **
All players solve the same puzzle at the same time in teams. When the game begins, players simply type their answers into chat and hit enter. Clue numbers need not be specified. If they are correct, the answer fills in on the puzzle. If they are wrong, nothing happens. One point is given for each correct square. Each player accrues a unique point score during a game.

What's the tournament format and brackets?
The tournament will be single elimination and matches are in a best of 5 format. The games will be hosted on the Treasure Discord and you’ll be able to play it directly in Discord similar to games like Gartic! Our first round opponent will be Tales of Elleria!
Known as the best Goblin Smashers!

When's the tournament & how can you join?
Round 1 begins on <t:1669762800:f> and the semis & finals will be on <t:1669849200:f>.

The entire Beacon community can play! The more of us the better as we’ll have the collective hive mind working on the crossword together. Let's dominate this competition and show them what this community is all about!

You might have noticed that the FC collection on Trove now displays a "Rarity Rank" for each character, and it can be used to sort them while viewing the collection. Please keep in mind that these rarities are not actual traits of the Founding Character NFTs, but rather a loose representation of the "combined rarity" of their cosmetics. This value is calculated directly by Trove, not set by us.

The formulas being used to calculate these ranks are subject to change, so please take that into account when making decisions.

Just to drive the point home: RARITY RANKS ARE NOT FIXED, THEY SHOULDN'T BE USED AS A DEFINITIVE METRIC OF A CHARACTER'S RARITY

More responsive combat! This second batch of patches and tweaks brings multiple improvements to the overall feel of the Sword and Shield moveset. Below, we include the most noteworthy improvements to the game.

Gameplay tweaks

• Reduced input lag 🎊:
  • Removed 33ms delay on ability activation
  • Removed 66ms delay on player movement
• Remove primary ability cooldown activating when combo times out (this happened if you waited too long to perform an attack while the primary attack combo was still active)
• Spike traps now damage enemies
• Enemies now stay active when outside the screen if close enough

Performance

• Disable spinner traps when away from the screen

Fixes

• Fixed misplaced overlay rectangles on death screen

Improvements

• Added proper Blastmite explosion art
• Updated Sling Goblin’s projectile art
• Updated multiple sound tweaks

Playtester Menu

• Added playtester menu for debugging and troubleshooting: The playtester menu can be openend by pressing F10. It allows the player to change internal game settings. We plan on progressively adding more options to this menu. This should allow us to more easily identify sources of common issues, while providing the ability to potentially work around some of the machine-dependent issues some players are experiencing.

Gameplay tweaks

• Implemented input buffer 🎊: The input buffer makes inputs more reliable, providing more leeway to the player when timing their attacks (Let us know how this feels, the input buffer requires careful calibration and it might take a couple of attempts before finding the sweet spot).
• Blade Spinners can now be walked and dashed through.
• Blade Spinner now has stronger knockback.
• Blade Spinner now changes direction when colliding with enemies.
• Shield bash (right mouse button) charge time reduced from 0.85s to 0.6s.
• You can now keep buttons pressed to continue casting an ability.
• Clearing a room now smites all remaining enemies who somehow escaped your wrath.

Fixes

• Fixed exploit on bomb pickup allowing it to be picked up multiple times when spamming the interaction key.
• Fixed interaction key hint in bomb pickup staying longer than it should after interacting with it.
• Knockback direction of Blade Spinner now pushes entities away from it.
• Fixed scenario where some input releases were not being registered by the game.
• Fixed regression where dungeon music would stop playing after dying.

Performance

• Disabled more entities that were active outside of the screen.
• Improved performance when spawning new entities.

Improvements

• Enemies now see the player from further away.
• Added more sound effects and improved existing ones.

Additionally

The error "No Treasure Auth Token Found. Please launch the game using the Treasure Launcher." (#🔴・p2-announcements message) has been fixed as well.

Game

This week was mainly about migrating to the Godot 4.4 engine, we decided to bite the bullet early and solve the issues that stemmed from the migration right away. This update gives us more options to improve performance, reduce crashes in the future, and speed up our development thanks to a bunch of new engine features that are now available to us!

*** We have some cool new features and some big optimizations that didn’t make it for this release, but are close to finished. Expect some interesting new mechanics in the coming days!***

Content

We are testing the waters with our gameplay effects system and stat modifiers, we are starting with two new, simple field items first, but more interesting field items will follow:

• Heart container
  • Effects:
    • +4 Max health
    • +4 Current health (4 health points = 1 heart)
  • Activation: On pickup
• Swift potion
  • Effects:
    • +120 movement speed for 4 seconds
  • Activation: On cast
  • Charges: 3
  • Stacking: Additive, durations are independent

Playtester Menu

• Added Enable debug logs setting: Enabling this setting makes the game’s logs more verbose, which will give us more context to narrow down issues in the game. This might cause lag spikes, so only enable this when necessary.

Gameplay tweaks

• Added colliders to explosive barrels.

Performance

• A bunch of performance improvements that should make a difference on some machines struggling with low frame rates.

Fixes

• Death animation showing a naked character 🔞

Improvements

• Upgraded engine to Godot 4.4: This might come with some performance benefits, but also let us know if you have any issues with the new builds!
• Improved overall sound levels
• Improved more combat sound effects
• Added pitch randomization to sound effects (let us know how these feel for you!)

Note from the devs:

*We didn’t want to keep you waiting, and honestly, we just really couldn’t stop ourselves from shipping power-ups any longer. So, we are releasing today an early-release version of the power-ups quest.

Think of this release as a “sandbox” to test out our first version of the power-ups system. This early release is incomplete. It lacks a level design, and power-ups are randomly selected. Expect to feel overpowered pretty quickly.

We’ll be shipping an update next week with the final version of this quest. Remember, quests are replayable, so you’re not missing out on the fun!*

Gameplay

• ** Power-up system**: The first glimpse of one of the core aspects of The Beacon, Power-ups, are finally here! We’ll be starting off with just a small batch of power-ups for this first release, and adding more as we go. During these first weeks of the feature being live, the power progression might feel a bit quick. This is expected, and in part due to the lack of stronger enemies (mainly stat-wise). The power-progression curve should feel less and less abrupt as we make progress in content.
• Camera zoom decreased from 2.25x to 2.0x.
• Changed the following player character’s base stats
  • Knockback power: 1.0 → 0.5
  • Attack power: 100 → 70
  • Attack speed: 100 → 70

Fixes

• Fixed some more potential crash causes for macOS and Windows.

Improvements

• Added a bunch of new sound effects, visual effects tweaks.

1. Go to bridge.treasure.lol.

Step 2️⃣ (YOU CAN SKIP THIS STEP IF YOU ALREADY HAVE $MAGIC)

You need ETH on Arbitrum One

1. Make sure you have "Token" selected.
2. Make sure you're transferring from Arbitrum One to Treasure.
3. Enter the $MAGIC amount you need (calculate 10-12 $MAGIC approx. per WOP).
4. Click deposit.
5. Approve on your wallet.

Step 3️⃣

1. Make sure you have "NFTs" selected.
2. Make sure you're transferring from Treasure to Arbitrum One.
3. Click "Select All"
4. Click "Switch to Treasure"
5. Click "Withdraw to Arbitrum One"
6. Approve on your wallet.

Keep in mind

• You can skip step 2 if you already have enough $MAGIC.

Treasure Chain Shutdown Notice

Treasure Chain will be shutting down today, Friday, May 30. This means that any remaining Writ of Passage NFTs on Treasure will no longer be bridgeable back to Arbitrum.

But don’t worry—your assets are safe 🤝

If your WOP is still on Treasure, we will recover it with the help of the Treasure team and return it to Arbitrum. No assets will be lost in this process. Please note that this may take some time, but rest assured, you will receive your WOP in the coming weeks.

Regarding WOP Upgrades

If you completed Phase 2 of the New Frontier Quest, your WOP will be upgraded after it has been successfully bridged back to Arbitrum (automatically).

• Traps now disappear once a room is cleared
• Set spawn waves amount on procedurally generated rooms to 2 (let us know if this is better)

• Added input hints on Game Menu's Keybindings tab (no custom bindings yet)
• Changed Attack Power stat boost. Each level now grants additive attack power instead of multiplicative
• Changed Pact of the Juggernaut's stat scaling
• Player character now starts the dungeon standing on the elevator, as it should
• Added a slight dungeon music variation to the Shopkeeper's room
• Fixed Jeekah's dialogue auto-advancing without player input
• Fixed "debug" settings not being saved
• Fixed some rooms in procedural generation not properly generating certain walls
• Fixed some town plaza animations
• Added extra debugging capabilities to detect crashes and other issues more easily

Hey folks, we're scheduling a server restart shortly to apply patch 0.4.1. Servers will go into maintenance mode for a few minutes, but we'll be right back.

We’ve seen several conversations regarding bot farms creating accounts and concerns around sybil accounts.

Please don’t worry, we’ve been actively flagging and tracking suspicious accounts since day one, and you can be assured that accounts attempting to exploit the system will not receive rewards.

We have multiple layers of verification and anti-abuse protection in place to detect fraudulent behavior, including new AI-powered detection systems.

Our team is monitoring everything very closely to ensure rewards go to real players and real community members.
