Beta-tester's journey after his memories of Valley IV.

Photography is one of the best things humanity ever invented. Know why? Because it allows us to capture memorable moments of our lives, and this memory will live in a photo until the last physical or digital copy of it is destroyed or the last person who remembers about it dies. Photo is a way to reminisce your life.

Endfield released about the same time when Beta-I had happened last year and because of that it's even more symbolic for me to go around places I've seen so recently yet long ago. In this part of my diary I followed one rule: one photo from one location. It doesn't mean there is no more photos of Valley IV, but I think some photos deserve their own entries.

First photo: three longears, but I think someone's a third wheel. In Beta-I I made same photo, but back then there was no photo mode.
Second photo: Valley Pass scenery with Bonekrusha's tower. In Beta-I Valley Pass was the only (iirc) map I cleared 100%.
Third photo: Quarry scenery. Quarry reminds me of crazy zip-line setups and, of course, the silliest of them all — Chen!
Fourth photo: scenery of the trail from Originium Science Park to Origin Lodespring. Actually, on this photo there is the most beautiful zip-line in the entiry game imo — from the TP point to the rare spot with mushrooms.
Fifth photo: Origin Lodespring. No comments on this one except: Life finds a way.
Sixth photo: Power Plateau. ||Tata's memorial made by players. o7 Tata.|| Not the most beautiful photo of them all, but one of the most emotional ones for sure.

Jingyu Valley.

Entering Wuling.

Not gonna lie, these photos aren't the first ones I took in Wuling, but while I was travelling around Wuling, reaching places I wasn't supposed to reach (there will be another part about it, I think), I was thinking to myself: "What I am going to put in the second part?" I came to conclusion that, perhaps, there is not better choice than to publish another place in chronological order.

Wuling is much much more stunning than Valley IV, that's a fact. Perhaps, I just like this type of scenery more. Or maybe I got really bored of Power Plateau's and Origin Lodespring colour pallete and was hungry for some greenery. Who knows? Nevertheless, after I came to the very beginning I reminded myself about how important is first impression. And then I thought about that the first impression readers will have from my diary are going to be... strange. I hope that I will change them later, while sharing things I truly like and made my stop and think about something. As of not, here are to sets of photos from Everwater Brook.

i spent abt 2 hours adjusting the focal length, position, field of view, zoom, timing, etc.
turns out the "black and gold" filter spawns a cube of particles based on where you first entered camera mode, so i had to pinpoint the perfect spot to not get too many particles on screen but still have enough to the side of her without blocking her face

I think storm is approaching

Video games are the rare case of art and media in which visual storytelling (or visual narrative) is used as commonly as any other from of narration. Sometimes it's a hundred times easier to show than to tell. But visual storytelling isd also about the setting of the stage. Based on how things are arranged in someone's kitchen you can tell when it was last used, who uses and owns this kitchen.ообще.

When we arrive to Jinguy Valley and ||meet Ardashir, he tells us that he is travelling around Talos-II...|| Based on that, I believe this chair might belong to him. Or, maybe, it belongs to that lady from a side-quest? Who knows. But I am completely sure that whoever used to sit on it, genuinely enjoyed his time here, inhaling cold wet mountain air and looking at this scenery.

The Hub, Power Plateau.

Grief, part 1.

Memories of an old friend.

Back then in Beta-I I really liked only two character: Yvonne and Gilberta. Yvoone for her character design and resemblance of Ironmouse, and Gilberta for her personality, story and voice. Later on I was kinda disappointed in Yvonne because she didn't really fit my playstyle and there wasn't anything else besides her design. On the contrary, Gil was perfect for my team.

She was in it for the very beginning of Beta-I all the way to the end. And while I was playing with her in my team, after multiple weeks you just kinda get used to her, get attached to her voice lines, the way she acts on your screen.

After the game released, to my shame, I didn't even immediately notice that her VA has changed. Back then she was voiced by Lizzie Waterworth, the same person who voiced Angelina in the OG Arknights. And her acting... I think she was just perfect for Gil. The way Gilberta sounded with Lizzie's voice was so lively, so joyful and warm, that after you hear it once, no one will be able to replace Lizzie. Anna Devlin for sure did a good job, but, you know, if someone ever asked me:

— If you could, what thing would you change in Arknights: Endfield?

Without a doubt, I would answer:

— I would bring Lizzie Waterworth back.

Because without Lizzie there is no "Gil' be nimble, Gil' be quick!". No "Hi Endmin!". No "You called?".

p.s. On Youtube there is a video with all her lines from Beta-I" [Arknights Endfield]Gilberta ALL Voice Lines (English with CN subtitles)". I really recommend checking it out. Perhaps, one will remember thing we will never ever hear in AKEF again, and other will for the first hear what I will be longing for.

I not only post photos myself, I also enjoy seeing other people's works. Besides the disappointment that about half the photos use the same "Black and Gold" filter (he isn't bad, I just think it's really unnecessary to take every single photo with it, like, come on), I sometimes see photos of places that I have no idea how they were taken. Sometimes it's the angle. Sometimes it's what the person photographed in the first place.

Ponds and waterfalls, pt. 1

After seeing so many ponds in Wuling, I feel like they are part of some big update in the future focused on fishing. Because there's just no point in making so many different streams, rivers, ponds and lakes. Fishing in games is quite often not the most interesting activity, it is usually seen as some filler secondary task that will be done by the minority of player base. Although, some games portray fishing quite enjoyable, like Nier: Automata or Stardew Valley, in the latter fishing is part of the core of the game. And I am not even talking about fishing simulators like Russian Fishing and others.

Fishing in games always reminded me of times when I would go fishing with my father in my childhood. Honestly, sometimes I think that these fishing trips were not about fishing for most us, but they were a way for the family to spend some time together in the countryside. Perhaps, that's why I like fishing in video games.
