I have not built my own yet. I’d assume based on the photo it uses some sort of rubber that kinda has a bit of elasticity to it so once it it creates suction. If you don’t want to go with a magnet route you probably could just find pvc that has a pretty close size and do a sort of clip. An alternative I suppose would be to connect a magnet right to the controller somewhere that it won’t mess with general operation like on the hand protector part. And then make the controller mount from the bottom
