I use a cloths hanger as a stock, I use my finger on my gun hand and wrap it around back of hanger. And taped my left controller to front. It works great, and I have had a 70 dollar gunshots b4

I personally think sniping w gunstocks is WAY better than without, but Yes, angled grips will Offset your gun, however Most gunstoks have something to counteract this, as for the Protube vr that use, you can adjust the hand Placement so its straight again

Is there a way in which my hands can hurry up and move to its proper position when gunstock is enabled? I hate having to re-grip my gun into my gunstock hold to get a proper sight picture

My first day playing with a stock today. I've found that I'm subconsciously failing to activate the grip button/sensor on my fore hand, as my brain now thinks I'm already gripping the gun. So I'm thinking of modding the controller to depress an additional button on the controller to do that as it's snapped onto the magnets. This will also mean that as the hands is pulled away the game will release the grip. Do people already do mods like this? Seems a simple enough thing to do.

@lone yarrow It should be easy enough. A 2nd switch soldered such that pressing it, or the original controller button activates the command will do. I did something similar to add a mag release button in a sensible place on a pistol grip. In this case the magnets will already be strong enough to press a microswitch, and release when the hand is pulled away.

I might be wrong but there is most likely a setting that's called something like sticky grip that makes it so once the grip is pressed the weapon stays in your hand

I got to say, part of vr gaming is us irl doing stuff somewhere else (in vr). Using periferals becomes a sort of AR. Just the other way around. Making VR more realistic by Adding the IRL aspect to it. You havent used any gunstock or have you used some and it was not good?

I play pavlov. DM/TDM. Very rarely we play large maps. Its always cqb. And ttt is low, So the game is giving the time to turn and try to counter attact. (and i dont do artificial turn. Its a sweat bath after 30 mins against the veterans. And theres nobody else there but them at this point). Gunstock is not bound to be far distance only. Except when it is, but thats a bad gunstock. There is a sicence behind this. How ever weird it sounds

There is nothing better than an actual free hand play while doing utilities, looting, bandadging etc. Gunstock needs to be "disposable". Fixed stocks suffers from that issue. Magnetic stocks suffer from other issue, where there is a need to be careful while holding a gun. Sumilar to a halfcupper. I mean it when i said there is a science behind all of it 🙂 holstering is not even considered to be a valuable option today. One day it will.

Under $50 USD: i would rec the STKR version of the Asset by OlenVR or the SmartStock non mag no cheek rest from SkolVR (might be more than $50 after taxes and shipping)

Under $100 USD: i would rec the SBS version of the Asset by OlenVR or the SmartStock with mag and cheek rest

Over $100 USD: I would rec the SBS or the standard Asset with some mods like the VTCR or anything else you might want on the MODpart of their site or you can get the SkolVR Butcher or for top of the line SkolVR Tomahawk

I have personally used all products i recommended here and these are just my genuine opinion

Every Stock here has an option for either Q2 or Q3

from stocks i have used these are best choices i bet there are others that could fit in but i have not tried any others

yeah but for me the chin rest works in the lowest setting, i had considered using a ziptie to lock it on a higher possition if i needed it, just pass it thru that loop, that should put enough pressure to lock it in place

i ordered from temu and had them in a few days, but they didnt come with the metal plate so i used washers works fine but i should dremmel the screw hole some to make it more concave to have a better contact, it is still the best stock i have ever used, tons better than commercial ones

Yeah, calibrate the gunstock as much as possible. Then slap a foregrip on it and then adjust the gunstock itself to fit the foregrip

the irony here is, that you recommend two halfcuppers. Witch means that you have to actually open your palm in order to grab the dominant cup. Holding any halfcupper is a pain. That is why Ultistock got additional magnets. But still you have to open the palm. So you are in direct contact with a cup while actively not seeing them. this alone makes your pics more cuts inducing. For the second stock, the new one, the front hand also needs to do the same. It has to open, grab a half cup and hold it. All without any help from the stock itself. Its literally blind action. It would cause huge problems in any faster paste game (like Pavlov). Especially without artificial turn. Im not assuming thats true. I know it. I have onestock and its terrible in comparison to even weak magnetic. The fact that dominant is a half cup too makes it useless in any cqb. As for ultistock, your hand literally stops on the piece of plastic. It means that any faster move will be felt in contact. both of the stock you advice are much more dangerous. Im not even going to mention the main bar connecting the cups in the new stock. you should be more worry about injuries caused by those stocks if you feel like you are responsible for other peoples accidents. my stock was designed to be literally out of the way in VR. Ive posted a long explanation video about its features. my 3rd rule was "gunstock should not be interrupting while in VR". This rule eliminates any halfcupper. including both Ulti and the other one. Ulti is better tho. 145$ for another duoble halfcupper.. at this point after onestocks fiasco, if you are erasing mine and shill for this thing, there is no point in explaining anymore. One thing is good. All you half cupper owners are way behind on the scoreboard. Its just an objective truth. Its physically impossible to be other wise. It really shows on your clip. what is the tempo of ulti.

I honestly prefer this over the 3d print ANYDAY but this is technically something you can put together with magnets and pvc pipes cuz that’s what it is

But I’m lazy! I’ll lay 35 and go about my day

I don’t calibrate guns in the settings I just adjust it to the gun I’m currently using and it’s perfect once i screw the rings down

For other guns I’ll release the magnet of one controller, grip it, then move it to the magnet to lock down

For the most part it works but aiming is a bit weird, like you have to raise the stock up higher than you’d think, but honestly I don’t mind that and it’s still stable enough to where I don’t care

If you aren't interested then no need to reply. I took multiple models of gun stocks " not the Butcher" and made it into one. Using actual gun butt stocks like the SIG folding stock but inverted and better ergonomics as pictured. Feels and functions more like a real gun instead of a toy... I also paid for a file off of makerworld but used it as a baseline and paid a 3D graphic designer to re create and correct multiple failures in the 3D models like weak/small controller sockets, thin frame and short design. It is longer, stronger and made with better material. I also use advanced multicolor printers and create custom versions as well. Something other manufacturers don't do. There is only so many ways you can make a VR gun stock and you could say the same for many others out there looking like numerus other VR gun stock. All the files are 100% mine and I have them to prove it. I have permission and give credit to Any other creators files that have been remixed to protect me legally, on my website 2taptactical.com as requested by the original creator. SKOLVR has already trash talked the Shadow Stock but I refuse to stoop to that level even though I could point out many flaws in his models. To each his own I guess.

The Shadow Stock is also 100% made in the USA and sold for a fraction of the cost avoiding the month long wait time. I can get one of my Shadow Stocks out to the customer in a week and it is a quality product. I am also in the middle of a shotgun style VR gun stock as well as many others. I have gotten quite good at 3D design using Blender, one of the most powerful 3D CAD software's out there. It's a lot of fun creating and I don't expect everyone to like it but sometimes people want something new that not EVERYONE has. 2taptactical.com is able to provide that with our ability to fully customize.

There are LOTS of options out there buddy. It depends of the style you are looking for and your price point. ProtubeVR makes a really cool fully adjustable VR gun stock that I have heard great things about. SKOLVR has lots of options as well including his Smartstock that is better for shorter arms, lightweight and fairly affordable. you could always make your own as well if you don't have the $$. There is lots of information on Google on how to make a VR gun stock out of regular household items.

Yep and I have never said anything negative about you or your company! In fact I recommend your products constantly. I purchased the model then had it re rendered by someone with more skill in Blender than me. I made the magnet well deeper and narrower because it was built like a brick. The controller sockets were completely unusable and had to be completely re meshed/designed. The butt stock you have listed is not the exact same one I used. The butt stock is actually a model of a SIG design with tons of different remakes out there to be downloaded. I have full permission from the original creator to use it as I please. I was asked to recognize the original creator and that is exactly what I did. However it was also remixed and I did away with all of the picatinny stuff on the hinge point. I simplified it all into one whole piece, inverted it then changed the angle of the butt pad and slide since inverting changes its geometry and ergonomics. I have invested thousands of my own $$ into its re design so for you to call me a thief, insult me and the model in one sentence then call me a "good guy" in the next is a bit twisted up. Had you reached out to me from the start, and us have a discussion about it in a professional manner this all could have been avoided. Nothing I did was malicious or aimed to hurt you in anyway. I was simply trying to create something that I could use as well as others as an alternative. I get you want to be the VR gun stock king pin but everything I have done has been done legitimately and legally. Feel free to email me if you would like to have a civil discussion and maybe we can figure something out. Or if you want to "ban me" you can go that rout as well but it won't solve anything. I just got the non magnetic smartstock. Hacked it up with a machete, and I got a comfortable middle ground of cgrip and smartstock

I added duct tape in the areas where the controllers go, so the controller doesn't slip when digging that mf in my shoulder

Its not the sticky end of the duct tape. Just so it feels comfortable when you slam the controllers in there

I also added the pin system upgrade for the adjustable cheekrest. Costed like $5 and it was easy to install. A big improvement from the key and lock system

For sure! Went from protube to skol, definitely lightweight and snappy. If you go tomahawk you get a switch to fold it so it's not cluttering so much space, you can also make different gun types using this switch from pistol all the way up to using it for snipers. Quite neat.

Does the SkolVR Butcher stock have grip problems like other less adjustable gunstocks like the cgrip do? (Can’t reach the grip, or the gun aims way upward so you have to put the butt on top of your shoulder) Also does it have tracking issues where your gun sways a little without having injured arms?

my recommendation is to use guns with grips if possible and overall lower recoil, for example, you'll be better off with an AK-109 and a fortis shift than an M4 with an RK angled. Second, don't spray as much, tap fire more, if you want to spray, use a very low recoil gun. Third, it takes time to get decent control over it, i find slowly moving my forward hand down help. With non-stuck to rear hand gunstocks, you can also just go fully freehand to help in cqc

It depends on what you want, if you want magnets (which I would recommend) get the magnetic one. It adds up the price a bit more but it is definitely worth it. The non magnetic one is also very good it just doesnt have as much to it compared to the magnetic one which explains the price difference. I recommend whatever you would prefer, you cant go wrong. There are also all of the colors, I rock the military green one and I like it. If you are going with the non magnetic one definitely go for the one with the cheek rest extender it helps a ton. Really just go with whats in your budget, if you can find it in your budget to go magnetic I would more or less recommend that version. The one on the top is the military green smartstock. The only difference is mine is magnetic and the non magnetic doesnt have a controller grip. It just uses the bare controller and you hold your hand up to the stock

I think a better option would be to make the quest trigger have a weighted trigger pull.

Then maybe have the grip can have some texturing tape where the majority of your palm might be.

Weights could just be a 1 pound wrist wrap for extended play session. Unless you got the endurance...go higher weight which i do not advise unless you were farm raised or something. But 1lb or less is the perfect comfort zone from my experience

Also refrain from setting controllers down on fabric (ie. couch, bed) opt for hard surfaces that are clean. This is especially important if you have pets that may leave hair around. I swear stuff clings to fabric that then somehow easily transfers into the the analog sticks. I've had to replace my analog sticks on my once, thankfully, and havent had any drift issues yet. I second the contact cleaner. Just make sure you remove batteries from controller before cleaning, and push button when you remove batteries to drain any residual power from it. One can of contact cleaner will last a long ass time

Yes, I used to have my ps3 controllers have horrible stick drift when i was young. I learned how to counter it and stopped having stick drift for a decade until recently. It turns out that my controllers analog sticks were pressed upon stuff more often since I started traveling again. So backpacks can play a part in your fabric example too

tomahawk can be adapted faster, but less perfect (ex: some guys will feel worse than others since the calibration is basically a ton of presents vs custom), the magtube is slower, a bit harder to learn, but you can have perfect calibration for your weapon of choice. Tomahawk adapts worse, but faster, magtube adapts near perfect, but slower. it's more so your pick. tomahawk and skolvr is popular with people that tend to switch guns very often and care less about having the best calibration possible (ex: switching guns during a naked raid).

I’d HIGHLY suggest SkolVR Tomahawk. If you use code Kenshi then you can save a little money (5%).

For the head strap, I have the BoBoVR S3 pro headstrap with hot swappable batteries.

Sling stocks (mainly the magtube) will provide more and better IRL calibration than any current split stock design, however split stocks can be faster to learn and use until you really practice with a sling stock. another benefit of sling is you dont have to removed the entire stock from your controllers to play other games that arent shooters

good example is cross eye dominance, you'll want a sling stock for that since split stocks just cant calibrate good for that

I’ve tired both and split is the way to go. Since you are constantly looting, pulling backpack off, healing, etc. split makes all these task seamless.
