I couldn’t possibly know, but like I said it’s even pictured with a bare controller. They design these things to fit the controller itself, usually they don’t have tolerances for adding extra thickness

I picked up an OlenVR Asset stock. Havent put it thru its paces just yet, but I was thinking. Seems operating a bolt action is not as much an issue with the stock as I feared, but I had a thought. It would be pretty rad if, assuming you are using a HMD that supports hand tracking, you could release a hand from the controller and it would swap to hand tracking for that hand, allow you to manipulate the bolt (or whatever really, any action is viable), and the controller tracking reactivates when your hand returns to it.
Its just a thought, and I did give it a brief 10 minute test on my Quest 3 via Virtual Desktop. It would seem that activating hand tracking does it with both hands every time and doing it with only 1 hand is not possible, unless Im missing something. My attempt in game would either result in dropping the gun uppon hand tracking activation, or my other hand instantly takes over the main grip instead of staying on the foregrip of the rifle.
I feel this could be a worthwhile avenue for hand tracking to work in-tandem with controllers in such a way. Though it seems such an implementation is currently not doable.
Would love to hear if anyone else has had a similar thought or messed around with a similar idea. Seems it would be a very nice thing to have with vr gunstocks.

Not really, it was scrapped together. But youtube does have some diy pvc videos you could reference. Bring a controller to a hardware store and test fitting for the cups.

Fixed the coupling issue, stock is very sturdy now. Offset and raised offhand rod doesnt get in the way of reloading.

Hello, friend. Adjust the stock and calibrate it. Tomahawk and Butcher have the ability to rotate/raise the front hand in addition to calibration.

But using the straight or shift grip creates a minimum offset, which is much better compatible with all guns.

The ultistock holster is fine, its velcro. I repurposed those parts and added magnets instead. Functions the same way as my onestock holster

anyone else's tracking get worse when using a gunstock? I just lost two fullkits because my gun kept going up whenever i was ADS and spraying.

Handles fine, there are ridges on the waist holster on either side of the magnets that keep it in place can't pull or rotate the stock out. At least not easily. Helps line up the magnets when they pull together having 2 sets of magnets on the waist leaves little room to miss.

Just a suggestion I also use a magtube but a quest 2, make sure the but stock isn’t too far up so it doesn’t cover any of the cameras on the headset and that the controllers are in sight when ADS.

I doubt it, the design for the controllers are different so they wound fit in the same controller cup. the cheap Amazon gun stocks although they do have removable controller cups don’t sell replacements. I know protube sells them separately so you could buy a gunstock with the cups for eg Quest 2 and then buy the Quest 3 separately but that will be WAY out of your budget.

I made mine automatic. It locks in the stock to the controller once it goes up and opens when movinh down leaving the the magnetic surfaces waiting for reconect. Its pretty cool. Holster for life 🙂

I second that, skolvr stocks are good value for what you get. I personally have the tomohawk and the butcher. Butcher is cheaper but I actually prefer the stability of it, although it doesn’t fold as compact so there is a tradeoff there in terms of doing no shooting activities like looting, packing bags and climbing ladders but you quickly get used to it. Really easy to snap back together too the muscle memory is instantly there!

Both are fine, neither block view of the controller. For either, it'll mostly come down to your offhand grip placement. If you keep your controller vertical or at a slight angle, you'll be fine. If you want to underhand, then you'll have to C clamp it to keep the controller IR in view.

No it's not a bug, it's a standard off set which is created by angled grip obviously in this game.

Wield is good, both grips are cups, so its something you'd have to get used to. If you dont want the stock to fall, you need to have a solid grip on at least 1 cup. Good thing, the stock is very light

Yeah, i modified mine with a magnetic holster and primary hand. So its possible to change it to your preference.

Great for bolt actions tho, since your hand is always free

Although personally for bolt action, i prefer the ultistock with the magnetic primary hand release, and an offhand cup.

Bit it does have benefits, in that if you leave some skrews slighty loose, then you can adjust grip angle on the fly with a bit of extra force

Theres a knob for tilting forward and back, and a skrew inside the cup to change the direction you are pointing the controller.

You could make it somewhat loose for lever actions in some games. Thats pretty fun. Also it does have a built in shotgun pump

I had this problem if I grabbed a second gun in my offhand. Hands would stay offset.

As others recommended the best way to fix it is to not use the in-game calibration and just physically calibrate the gunstock to the in-game model (if your stock is adjustable).

You could always DIY your own with household items. Pvc pipes, wood board, hanger, cardboard, etc.

Under 50 you got the ultistock and some variations of astreus stocks.

Amazon has some okish stocks at 40 and under, so long as you dont apply too much force, parts wont snap.

There are some good cheap stocks on etsy.

But you start getting quality stocks at around 50 and up

TAVR you can use any stock. The game has great calibration. I use my DIY stock for the haptic recoil.

Tabor, any of the skol stocks are great. Ultistock as well since its mostly used as a brace, helps when adjusting to guns you pick up or need both hands. Some guys do make tabor specific stocks as well.

Depends on your budget, there are plenty of solid ones within the 50-100 range. Also depends on what your looking for in a stock and your patience on shipping.

50-100 is good I could be convinced to go higher if it's something really practical. My thing is I've never used one before so idk what it's like to switch from stock to hands and what the motions are like.

Tube stocks usually are magnetic and give you free use of your hands, but they're always on a sling. Protube and Mamut Apto offer individual parts if you want to DIY.

Modus4 on etsy is great as well with offset rods, making reloads easier. If you loosen a skrew, you can also use the rod as a shotgun.

Elvishtac is decent as well, comes with a built in shotgun pump, handgun 2 grip magnets, and free parts replacement.

On the more expensive side is the wield onestock, 2 cup design for both hands. Letting you freely drop the stock to reach for a handgun or loot. Ultralight, and has a built in shotgun as well. If you leaves skrews slightly untightened, you can adjust the controller angle and rotation on the fly. Lets you rack a lever action as well. Flick a tab and asjust the length, press a button in and the stock can adjust in height.

Braces dont have a sling, since theyre so light and almost always have a fixed primary hand. However, several designs tend to have a lot of adjustable joints. They always leave your offhand free, but some like the astreus stock, can be upgraded to a splitstock design with magnets.

Ultistock is also a solid brace design, cups around your wrist/forearm. Doesn't require perfect calibration since you can freely move your wrist. Its small so it doesnt get in the way of using either hand. Does offer a magnetic primary hand that can slide on and off the stock for 2 free hands. Works great for bolt actions.

Skol is a name thrown around a lot, but they're rep is solid, smartsock and butcher are within your range, and are some the best stocks atm. Sturdy, straightforward, and light. 2-4weeks to ship

Going higher, there is also the skol tomahawk that has 3 adjustable buttstocks. The has a side folder, that can extend from SMG-RIFLE-SNIPER.

At 20, you can either print your own or or DIY with pvc pipes. At 25, there are some options suvh as the astreus stubby or ministock and istock. Etsy does have some other options as well at around 15. But don't expect decent quality.

Remove the joints/stock and adjust. The stock should slide up/down for the cheek.
Its a tube design, you can make it look however, you want

Something really weird happens that is so annoying. Sometimes when I’m shooting with my stock (don’t use in game calibration) , the gun jumps up and then a restart will bring it up to its original position.

the caliration system does not do any horizontal adjustments, you will need to phsyically adjust your stock to perform a horizontal alignment

the gunstock calibration system used in this game is the same as is used in others, such as exfil zone. it can make height, distance, pitch and rotation angle adjustments, nothing horizontal

typically you just need to adjust your rear hand outwards a little, and your front hand outwards a little, and then you'll have everything in the correct place

With a pump, youve got the elvish tac VRX15, wield onestock, modus4, UFVR and Armory R1.

These are within the 90-150 range. Onestock is on sale for 140 atm. Armory R1 doesnt use a sling and UFVR uses a waist holster system. The rest have a sling

But you could probably make most tube stocks into a pump with a glossy carbon fiber tube and some lubricant

wouldnt recommend under mounted stocks as they can break tracking tho.

Light, durable, adjustable with joints, magnets are a bit too strong. They are known to break because of it. You may want to cover them with grip tape or foam. You could also attack their haptic accessories if you want. They dont work for every game, but most of the popular ones.

They use 18mm tubes, so they can be mix and matched with other brands such as mamut apto, if you prefer some aspects of other designs.

Skol tomahawk is solid as well. There are smaller lighter brace style stocks like the ultistock

Wouldnt say its the best, but a few tips. Dont tilt the offhand mount all the way down, can break tracking, unless you're using something like a Qpro controller. Leave the skrews slightly untightened to adjust for new weapons. The cups dont fit well with silicone grips, there's a lot of friction bc of the material. You'll have to shimmy them into place. Also they cant be grips that extend the length of the controller.

Depends on the stock, if they have a fixed connection and are light enough, its not a problem so long as you have enough space. Magnetic tube stocks like the forcetube, you can just detach the controllers.

Is there a VR gunstock that you can use with quest 2 and quest 3 controllers? I want a gunstock hit have a quest 2. But If I upgrade to quest 3 I don't want to have to get a new gunstock.

Depends on what you want out of it, and your budget. Check etsy, there are plenty of affordable solid stocks over there.

Heres a basic breakdown within price ranges, there are many more im forgetting that you could research on.

40-50: ultistock, cgrip
(both have optional configurations above 50)

80-100: smartstock, kobra, asset, modus, astreus (smartstock, asset, and astreus have cheaper configurations)

100-150: elvish tac, wield onestock, skol butcher, forcetube, Armory R1 (forcetube you could DIY)

150-180: skol tomahawk, deadeye enforcer(haptic)

200-1000+: protube haptics

Ultistock would be one of the cheaper stocks that leave your offhand free. Its a brace design, so the only hard connection is to your prinary hand. Helps with looting. Its not too long, very light, and is made up of joints for adjustability. No sling needed, and they offer upgrade kits that you could consider. Velcro waist holster and removable primary hand, pistol paddle, hand cups instead of a brace, etc.

Yes protube is great as well, you can remove the controllers to free hand. Theyre connected with magnets and the stock is on a sling.

also forgot to mention. rn am on a quest 2 but might and probably upgrade at some point but i dont have a reason to rn so i dont. i also need if theres a gunstock that fits both or can be upgraded to 3 without needing to pay the full price again.

TechMan is a streamer who got a custom magtube you can buy if you're a fan. Don't get it if you arent a fan basically

I don't know how protube's deal work, but i'm fairly sure the extra goes to the streamer
