Always on gunstocks work great in this game, but they can get in the way. Lots of folks like the Forearm brace from the Ultistock for this reason. But my magnetic grip option gives you the best of both worlds.

"Hands free". The stock punishes you if you need to use both controllers for inventory, etc.

You got to unhook both magnets, have the vr gunstock impede you as deadweight... then you have to fumble slightly to pick up the gunstock while hooking one magnet at a time; even more if you need to bend down with the gunstock in the way

You are very vulnerable in a game where you need to mess with inventory a lot.

That is where the split stocks work best... you are essentially hands free, but just need to bring your hands together and you magically have a stock again.

I can go hands free in less than a tenth of a second, and getting the stock back on is done in the same action as grabbing the rifle from your waist

I can climb a ladder at full speed with the stock off, and when I jump off the top ladder position I have the stock attached and in ADSing before I hit the ground

Considering a roof assault on labs from the tall ladder side needs you to do this quickly to survive it’s an important thing to be fast at. More stuff on my controllers that I can’t get rid of does not seem like a benefit

The muscle memory needed for a small or overcomplicated gunstock to attach or detach. For example, the tomahawk you just need to be kinda close and it snaps together. The common joe blow would not have difficulty with it. But others yes. The tomahawk has an Itty bitty part on your off hand so reloading and manipulating is a breeze.

Physcial calibration is doing this for me also randomly. If I open the menu and point at something it will fix most of the time.

Some times I can do 10 raids and have it not happen or sometimes it will happen every raid

And it breaks hand offset setting if you try to change that. I don't really understand it yet. 🤷‍♂️

Tomahawk is super nice, no fatigue in my hands after hours of play. Aim is steady all the time.

One stock your squeezing the controller into the cups, and they are constantly sliding inside them so the aim is all over the place. Hands get fatigued from all the squeezing

Yeah physical calibration is just broken. I'm surprised more people aren't bringing it up. People in here are suggesting the Butcher stock when the tracking doesn't even work on half the guns without physical calibration. And then you're stuck with your hands randomly gimping up. Maybe it's only a problem on the Meta version and not steam?

It works just like how your video shows. But my hands will just randomly stick to that angle. It can happen every raid or it might only happen once every 10 raids.

If I open the menu and point at something the hands will go back to the default hand offset.

Chances are you aren’t following the guide specifically and are skipping steps which are leading to inconsistent behavior. I’ve been playing this game and working with the gunstock calibration and its bugs many times and have documented them to the devs for an eventual fix. As of right now I am not aware of anything like what you describe

I just went over the guide again and I followed that exact procedure last time. Going to try it again. The only thing that might have happened was I calibrated more than once without reloading my game inbetween?

All I am doing is trying to adjust the pitch so my left controller is elevated slightly above the right. Some guns like SKS barely work unless I change that a lot more with the butcher stock. But that's a Quest 3 problem.

Interesting. Well I assure you the Ultistock maximizes quest 3 tracking.

And everything is adjustable. A pro and a con. Mostly a pro but if you don't like tinkering and adjusting to maximize your play style and would rather learn a fixed gunstock id probably recommend a few others

Lots of good options. Cgrip is a pretty great cheap out of the box option. Protube and Ultistock take some configuration. Butcher and Mr Tass in between. But gunstocks help a lot regardless. Lots of dedicated makers here to support you

The classic with foream brace stays with you and allows for tons of movement while still giving tons of full two arm stability. But if you want a full two handed stock experience with the ability to clip out (with no compromise in the clipped in feeling) then get the nesting magnigrip. That works with the foream brace or the front grip. Can't go wrong.

its a common quest 2/3 tracking issue, as they do not have the best tracking technology

however, a good gunstock is adjustable, so you can make sure you configure it to be in a proper ergonomic orientation, which will have the controller a decent ways away from the headset so that problem should be minimal

thats a quest 2 tracking issue. the way you are holding the controllers has the rear controller blocking the front. enable janky aim fix, that adjusts the offsets a little to help compensate for the tracking problem

Yeah, I have one and found the locking pin tolerances a bit scuffed, but the creator does take suggestions and reviews quite well, and if yours has an issue that is a issue, like the design originall being for quest 2, but due to the quest 3 and pro controllers having a slightly different shape that prevents it from working, and report it and give suggestions, he is likely to send you the updated version

read the pinned calibration guide, it will take some understanding and effort on your part, but once you understand what it does you can calibrate a class of guns in 5 seconds

overall process shouldnt take more than 3-5 minutes

Depends on the stock design... But most can get familiar within an hour or two and build up muscle memory within a couple days

iStock was not too bad before especially since it didn't cost as much as the othee options, and was very portable/lightweight etc.
However now there are a lot of better options for the same price range, and iStock doesn't fully stabilize your aim since it's a half stock

I did tried a butt to dominant stock, I did bominant to aiming hand stock, both give something. None can be compared to a proper full stock. And honestly, mini stocks (dominant to aiming) is way batter than butt to dominant.

I agree with you, between buttstock to dominant hand and dominant hand to aiming hand, I find having both hands connected much more stable than only a buttstock like the iStock would be.
I also noticed that having only weight behind your controller makes it harder to aim properly with pistols, since the weight will be dragging behind etc. Made the aim more "jumpy" for me. More weight on the front though reduces shakiness and helps to keep your aim where you point at.
However iStock is still a better than nothing option imo, especially when it initially came out since there were almost no other options at that price, but now I would never recommend it with the better options that are around for the same price range

Yeah. Ministocks does help. As I said they both did something. You touched on an interesting topic. Handguns and gunstocks. Are you doing that? Is it with butt or just hands, and butt being retracted/hidden?

With a split stock design, like they did with the tabor RAIDR gunstock, you'd keep both halves on each hand. So when you use a pistol you have the whole buttstock hanging behind your controller

That is when you extend your hands, you can also use the buttstock with the pistol, but it can limit your aiming movement at close range which kinda defeats the purpose of using a pistol for close range

Yeah I get it. I am planning on showing something "new" soon. It seems like it would be something that noone does, but I know ppl do that. Anyway, there is a way to use a handgun with a gunstock that rests on the arm (with butt) and aiming hand still on the stock.

And if one does marketing for their gunstock, it also makes marketing for gunstocks as a whole, so as long as your product is good enough or better it should also increase customers

However now I play mostly breachers (competitively), and most gunstocks get too much in the way or slow down too much. The only type of gunstocks that would work in breachers imo is one that stays in your dominant hand with a half cup in front for maximum speed and easiness to transition from free hand to aiming. The exostock is looking good. Better than mamba imo. Your butt can adjust. The. Tilt I mean. It seems like kobra have the X and Y but no butt tilt. Exo has Y axis and butt tilt. Good to see people getting their stocks adjustable in more axises. This thing should go up and down. It should do a bit more, but let me release mine and in about two years you guys will be right there 😄

Jay does reviews well. Unfortunately I didnt get to see his review of uni, but at least I know his opinion on it. I sometimes see it on his clips and its pretty cool 🙂

Luckily not all reviews are flattering, because not all gunstocks are any good. I wouldn't worry about exo tho. There has to be someone that draw a clear line for what a good or at least good enough gunstock is. Jay does this well.

You should really get on i used to have horrible aim now since I got one my aim got way better really recommend and if u calibrate it just right when u pick up your gunstock the sight is perfect

As per the calibration guide "Note that some guns are not in the category you expect (ie SKS, CX8, etc)" I know the CX8 needs to be calibrated as an AR - does anyone know what the SKS Tapco needs to be calibrated under?
