With gunstocks it usually easy to detach the controllers for when you need to do stuff with your hands, like open chests and such? Or is it easy to do it with the controllers still attached to the gunstock? Just one of my questions I had before buying one lol

Just got my (chrome) magtube today. Haven't had much time with it, but it feels awesome so far. Super adjustable and solid.

i dont see how. they do not have a good magnet orientation and have to use a small lip to compensate for that. the magtube cup attachment method is genius

i can see how someone having not used gunstocks for very long might think a horizontally flat orientation is good, but its not. it submits the magnets to sheer forces which they are very weak against. plus you need a higher degree of precision for attachment since you have a small lip surrounding a flat top

if you were to combine the angle at which magnets are strongest along with levers to counteract or enable the forces that you want on a gunstock, you end up with the magtube cup design

I 100% agree with this. I switched to the glisco cups for a week or two, and they are just more clunky.

You can't really pull the stock up from low ready to firing position super quickly because the magnets disconnect quite frequently due to the angle.

Also, reattaching the cups to the stock is more difficult and finicky.

I am now using the protube ones again and they are just much better overall imo

Feel it out at first with just controllers, virtual gunstock helps a ton but for really stable aim I would recommend a real gunstock, the most popular ones is Magtube by protube and the one I’m using @mental lance ‘s Tomahawk, it’s really good with some minor tuning

The difference is that it sets a “barrier” on your shoulder/stomach area so it’s more stable but gunstock is the way to go if you can afford one so much more stable!!

In gun calibration you can change the guns elevation In your right hand and its forward angle. You should be able to make it so when you grab the gun the way you want you can have it straight.

The canted grip pushing your gun to the right is something you’ll have to adapt too irl. But the other issue is fixable

Haven’t tried it but I would not recommend almost any gun stock from Amazon, most of them are very poor quality + that might not even work with quest headsets as the gunstock will block the tracking on the controller.

Be weary of any stock that occludes your controllers as it will affect tracking dramatically that’s why the expensive stocks all have the controllers on top despite it being less “realistic”

This honestly works frickin great. It’s all folded cardboard with a butt that has some flex but the length is stable and easy to use blindly. The butt is angled for comfort not poor quality lol

Without magnets, you can instead cut the cup in half so that you can remove the controller easily

But they're thicker

And it can put too much strain on the cup causing failure

Also the quest 2 controllers are not orientated exactly like the quest 3 ones, not a problem if you can adjust the cup though

Tried posting this in questions. Having trouble getting this one calibration issue solved as it relates to my magtube. Is this something that may be covered by save file deletion?

Physical stock calibration sometimes seems to change in game. The front hand grip point will not register the right height, and will kick into the right spot if I let go and grab again.

It’s kind of a game breaker for me. I use a quest 3, and it does it on pcvr and standalone.”

This a lot of the time has to do with tracking. What I recommend is holstering the gun, recalibrating, and repeating until its minimal between all the grab point. Also, I'm sure you have, but if you haven't, you can use the in game calibration to change the angle at which your trigger hand is. I highly recommend using both in game and irl calibration for guns

I find pitch rotation to be a lot more consistent, but physical stock calibration tilt angle to be the root of the problem

Yeah, but since there isn’t a calibration for the forward hand, I think it’s from the tilt calibration

It would be that then yeah. In game you can drop the AKM and calibrate to whatever gun you're using. Try tilting it down until it work, the. the forward hand might have to be moved a bit left or right

Yeah, those are tricky. Sadly tabor doesn't use a per gun based stock calibration, so it'll have to be universal. If you do use a stock I highly recommend using one gun at a time since you have to recalibrate per gun to make it perfect. Otherwise you can try to make a universal one, but it won't work the same

Get the SkolVR Tomahawk then... the butt stock has three easy to adjust positions... will set you back a bit of $$$... but definitely people love it.

Another more initially economical but upgradable option would be the OlenVR Asset which has a push button slide option for length of hands and butt stock separately.

CGrip is probably your best sub $50 bet... The ones on Amazon are prone to breaking.

The ExoStock I make has been well received, but is a little above the $50 range.

If money is no issue, then the Tomahawk usually comes out on top for features and adjustability.

If you are trying to stay on a budget (which appears to be the case), then I would suggest my ExoStock or the Cgrip or the Ultistock

My ExoStock is the closest match of the three to the Tomahawk mid-split style, but the Ultistock does have options.

Cgrip does not split in half (to my knowledge)
