I'm having this problem, was fine with the gun stock off but as soon as I turn it on it collides with the pouches on my armour and feels wonky.

Wield VR OneStock is the only product in the world that I know that fixes this.
Also doesn't cause the gun to jump from magnetic force impact when reconnecting the controller.

Last night I was testing Tabor with a few of our gunstocks and the magnetic ones especially are quite horrible since first there is the magnetic impact that throws off the controller acceleration tracking, and then when you grab the front of the gun the sights shift around.
So basically two phases of fucking up your aim.

This is a misalignment issue where the gunstock does not correlate well to the virtual gun you are holding.
There are 2 fixes to this: calibrate every gun in every game perfectly from in-game menus, or get a gunstock that you can align with your hands in 2 seconds.

But your WieldVR gunstock doesn't have any angle correction on the second hand at all :/

It has full step less friction-based angle adjustments (tilt + rotation) for both hands.
It's what allows the perfect sights alignment for all VR guns.
Friction is fully adjustable for your preference and can also be locked if needed.
We added thumb screws for the tilt friction so it can be tightened without tools now.

I think the tilting of the hands alone won't be enough compared to adding height with a vertical grip? Anyway, we'll see; the product isn't available for at least 3 months!

Do you care with your protube if the frame tube is parallel to the ground? Propably not. You don't see or feel it during the game.
The points of contact need to be in the right place and in the right orientation. The OneStock can do that for the vast majority of VR guns without needing calibrations and physical gunstock modes on or off. Off course there are outliers in everything such as some guns in some games being in weird angles.
What matters is that the virtual gun points the right way, is comfortable, tracking works and there are no weird issues like magnetic impact throwing off the controller acceleration tracking.

I think the bug taylor is talking about has nothing to do about gunstocks, I also have it while free handing, it's just a tabor bug where holding your gun only with the non dominant hand makes it snap in a weird angle instead of staying upright

The only fix would be to hold it in a way that will break your wrist

@timber falcon I'm primarily thinking about the ADS position, between an M4 without a grip and one with it, the height difference to see the sight will be different. The protube allows changing the complete angle by slightly loosening it at the front with a hand pressure. This is the main issue, in my opinion, with straight gunstocks in games like GoT that don't have calibration for different weapon/equipment types.

I think what he is talking about is that when you hold your gun with both hands and toggle the front hand grip on, off and on again, the gun shifts back and forth. Happens in all VR FPS games, not a Tabor bug

Yes I am familiar with this. Most likely the game code needs to be changed to keep the position of the gun when the dominant hand is released.

Indeed. We wanted to make ADS perfect no matter the situation you are in. For that you need more than the front hand tilt to function like this.
With the protube also there is the extra bit of tube in front of the front hand that limits the tilt since your fingers collide with the tube. Whereas we use the telescopic structure so that the stock ends where your hand is.
No priceless ming vases getting dropped from your shelves from swinging that 20cm extra tube around, yay!

We will make a version compatible with a few different aftermarket grips.
A bit like kobra has their version for regular quest controller and kiwi grips.
However we don't personally like any of the strap/grip designs out there, so we are making our own knuckle grips in the Active strap style but with soft-touch strechy velcro instead of the rough and coarse that Meta uses.

Then there would be a problem that the gun you see changes but the controller reconnection points don't.
Therefore the gun's visible foregrip would lie to you where you need to put your hand.
And you couldn't take advantage of the different characteristics of each weapon shape and size during gameplay - everything would also feel the same. And grip points might be closer or further away for some guns, meaning you can't reach the grip point.
This happens a lot with my tomahawk since it's very short.

For the reconnection points they can do like virtual stock, the gun's visibke foregrip is where you need to put your hand, and when you hold it it snaps into the corresponding position from calibration.
And yes there are some trade-offs, everything will feel the same, less easy for cqb with smg or less precise for long sniper shots.
To reach too far or close grip points compared to the fix position of the stock, depending on the system you should be able to grab it first with your hand, then move your hand in the stock position

this is how my mamut wasp is set up. I never have to make adjustments and the only gun in the game it doesnt work on is the storm, that gun is weird free hand for me too. Also there is a known bug for the hand tilt you mentioned. Sometimes just toggling any setting on and off in game fixes this

grip points are not changed from gunstock calibration. you are changing the offset of the rear hand only, and if you dont do anything in the gunstock calibration page nothing changes at all. sounds like you have created a gunstock calibration setup that is inaccurate and causing problems for you. check the pinned guide/video on how to utilize the calibration function effectively

For example to pick up items you need to let the stock go so you can reach down to get them. But for aiming they are amazing. Takes some time to calibrate it for the guns you wanna use though

For this reason I recommend stocks that are not magnetic. It makes the looting and other tasks easier with 2 hands very difficult. I have the Magtube, 150$. I don’t use it. Been eyeing one that’s up further, I’ll tag you. You get the stock but have your free hand braces instead of locked in. Makes for more fluid gameplay and helps aim.

The way I play is I don’t use a stock until I’m in a long range fight. Always just keep it slinged on me

Telescopic action is not spring loaded, we want you to be able to adjust and lock the length with one hand.
Imagine what would happen when you want to go from a sniper rifle to a PDW - you then compact the telescopic pipe, take your hand off to lock it and it would shoot back out, meaning that you would need to lock the mechanism with your dominant hand, meaning you would need to drop the virtual gun. Not convenient.
And a real pump-action shotgun is not spring-loaded either.

The friction for the sliding needs to be super optimized - too loose and the front hand slides out by itself when tilting the gunstock down. Too tight and it's a nuisance.

And if it's not tight enough when locked, you cant use pull force to engage your back muscles, meaning that your aim and posture suffer and your arms get fatigued faster.

These are the reasons why our preorder takes so long to manufacture. There is nothing out there that fills these requirements, it had to be custom made and as it turned out it needed to be updated once before shipping out to customers.

We tested a version that was spring-loaded and could be locked with one hand, but this required rotating your front hand to the left 60 degrees, meaning that the pump-action would have to be done at a weird angle.

If this would interest people, we could still make this but due to the round pipe frame you would also lose the vertical plane self-alignment that the OneStock has.
This for us is a big deal as the protube and apto wasp have round pipes, and the controllers and buttstock can easily rotate on the pipes and get the whole gunstock out of whack

With different gun grip configurations whether that's the shape of the gun or because you added a foregrip, your physical configuration may or may not still be inside the grip radius. Worst case scenario you grip the gun then put the controller on the stock. Different games tackle this problem in different ways

Was about to pull the trigger, but I think I'll wait to buy until after in-game gunstock calibration works with straight stocks and I don't have to recalibrate after using a different gun (AK -> M4). Would love to replace my magtube at some point for something faster, but I don't see the Raidr actually working for this game as of the current patch.

The trailer showed gameplay of it, but it cut out all the parts where you have to actually calibrate the gun.

Maybe sometime in the future, gunstock calibration gets another update and there's no downtime in between switching guns.

I’ve gotten it mostly working but the protube has a cheek rest and no matter what I do it won’t line up with that. And one thing I’ve noticed is that for some guns is when I grip them with my forward hand and then attach it to my gunstock, it is inconsistent. Like sometimes it’ll be too high and sometimes it’ll be too low based on where my hand is before I grip it, so I have to try and perfectly line up my hand before gripping so it’s not slightly off

Another big issue is that when it calibrated for rifles for example, it only works for a couple rifles and not all of them which is annoying

Downside is its a bit dangerous if you force it out with your legs it will pop out while standing up from a crouch or something
Also it slows down the time it takes to equip and unequip your gunstock. But i believe its better this way as it avoids it flinging around and hitting things especially while you are caught by suprise and just want to start running away before worrying about your stock

Its very easy to go from shooting to looting. This is my first time using it and its slow in general but with practice i think it will be like second nature to use it

If you use bolts and special magnets from home depot you could make controller magnets and tube magnets easily. Put an l bracket on the front and back of the tube with bolts through it
Then magnets on the other end of the l bracket with bolts through them.
The controller part of the build will be depend on the controllers. Index is way easier to build for than oculus rift and rift s and quest1

For the butt stock i would literally just screw some pvc pipes into the end of it and call it decent.
Maybe not as ergonomic as magtube or as safe but should be sturdy as heck and stable. Also removable controllers and one axis of adjustability for the controller mounts

You should keep the quest tracking issues in mind when deciding the height of the front hand

I've noticed this too, I think it's just a Q3 thing.

If I'm not careful sometimes the gun will randomly flip with the barrel pointing up at me.

Hmmm one point is that it appears you are adjusting the position of the gun when calibrating but you are actually adjusting the position of the dominant hand. This can be confusing and non intuitive.

What they should do is they should do it like onward where you are holding the gun with both hands and can line up everything perfectly

another way to word this is.. you cannot make any adjustments to your forehand position. So when you grab the gun with your forehand it usually means you are now aiming at the ground in game, even though your physical stock is aiming straight ahead. This essentially makes the calibration system useless for vertical adjustments.

So I get one AR calibrated perfectly then when I pick up a different AR the calibration is off

nah, if you have a quest 3, just order the quest 3 gunstock. I only got the adapters because I already had the stock and upgraded to a quest 3 vr

Seems like the only two people here to mention they actually have one says its great 🤷‍♂️ Some others complaining about apparent black goop from melting rubber but thats probably just people living in 70%+ humidity etc

idk anything about any issues with it. I've had mine for a few months, and between it and the magni tube, I prefer the gunface. personal preference I guess
