A vocoder isn't that complicated
You have two inputs - carrier and modulator
And the way it works is that basically the modulator's frequency content acts as a filter for the carrier
So like if you have a chord playing in the modulator then only the frequencies of this chord in the carrier would be let through

A good kind of guideline to follow is the reverb should mostly be done by the time the next time the instrumenet is playing

Or you can always duck the reverb a little bit whenever its playing and then let it come back up when the note ends

If you've applied that flanger to the whole frequency spectrum try separating them and only applying the flanger where you need it, eq the sub and basses out of the instruments that don't need it so the 808s cut through, and mix the vocals in
