👍 is alright
i was making myself dinner yesterday and it came to my head and this what came out.
hhehee
it sounds like when a main character dies hhehehehhee
sigma

i decided to make uptempo
it better be good or i'll ask admin to kick you out for false advertising
(i'm just kidding
... or am i?
)
sooo...
i got this idea. what if Manifest was made in 2017 and had a better chorus?
so made a smol remix, it's a buildup and drop
nearly there just needs an intro and the 1st verse
I mean if you like the music that I make then I guess you'll like it
It's gonna be released somewhere in winter, I don't know the exact date yet
I think old Neffex had more dynamics in the drop
the guitar was quieter and there was usually some lead synth or something like that
the kick should be more kicking imo
btw vocal skill update
I think I'm almost there for this one
nvm it's so terribly off-key 😭😭😭😭
Nice Goodluck hehehe
Noted
Noted
Noted
Well you did a good job in the expanded version but I think that maybe you could add a reversed sidechain
like when the kick hits other instruments get louder
Mmmmm, i don't know I'll try
thanks btw
yw (I have no idea what I'm talking about I've never dissected an older neffex song)
I think it's alright
it's maybe 5 semitones higher than I'd like it to be honestly
but at least I'm better at avoiding hitting the wrong notes now
Neither am i. I had no refrence when i made that heheh but i might use let me down or before im gone
I might not be able to sing a particular melody but I already instinctively avoid notes that aren't in the scale
Idk i think its alright but you do what you think is right
Yeah i noticed that
Good good
It's a long way till I'm satisfied with my vocal performance actually since I've recently started listening to Ado
Oh that's you. I thought it was an old Russian song that you've remixed hehehehe ma bad

It's not even in Russian bro
Ukrainian?
yea
I'm not gonna work with music in Russian until peace
Yeah i understand
I don't even know how to explain it to you but there are certain sounds that Ukrainian has and Russian doesn't
And English doesn't even have words to describe these sounds 😭😭😭
I know like american accents and british
English is a mf

Well at least american and british english use the same alphabet
Blyat
That's the only word i know
Hehehe
in Ukrainian we have this mf
ї
Ooow
Bruh
it's like a hard g
Bruuuh
🍐 yaay
so old
Yes I'm into old women
mommy
mommy
weird thing i made yesterday
Not any weirder than the things you usually make
😭
Nice concept
ignore
ignore some more
I'm gonna make a drill melody, chord progression, and ambience in C# phrygian and then transpose it to A# to use in a hybrid trap song

Cool
And I made a new distortion preset
Ooh nice
add some variation to the piano passes
or maybe another instrument to form a call-response with the piano before the violin appears
nice bass
It's mixed professionally I'd say
But I can't hear the vocals being double-tracked
And the lyrics are er... suboptimal, in my opinion
But overall you did a good job if you don't have that much experience
That's because he didn't listen to "Generation"
I don't have such good equipment; I'm Brazilian and I don't own a decent kit
Yeaa it feels in the way you write that English isn't your native language I suppose
And good equipment isn't really necessary
I mean, you sing really well regardless
Well, I guess I should write very "correctly," actually, I still haven't learned the slang or anything like that
Do you have any projects to show?
I'm listening to the only one that I recorded in English determining whether it's worthy to show
Tyty
Your lyrics are too direct for my taste
Like you're just making a statement
I get really pissed off
I guess that's how most music in English goes tho but I perceive music rather as a way to say something less directly so that not everyone can get what you're talking about
so it's like a little puzzle for people to solve
Just practice more
And perhaps pay more attention to lyrics of songs that you do like
Yes, I will, but those two are more explicit songs than the ones I make. Apart from that, they're a mix similar to "Neffex" itself, with some traces of Lil Peep. I could call it "Emo Trap Metal"
I re-rendered the only vocal song I have
I guess I have to record vocals all over again so they actually sound like a person singing if I ever want to release it but yeah here it is
Initially, I thought there was something "high," perhaps "sharp," about the sound
oh, nice line bass
I do like making bass lines
😭😭😭 Perhaps I am destined to become a bass player after all
Did he do it with "piano"?
No, a synth
but in this song specifically the gimmick is that the rhythm section gets louder when the bass plays
oh
Perhaps you've heard of sidechain
this is it except it makes things louder and not quieter
This is "Broken," the one I presented above; this is part [other] of it
as an instrumental artist I'd say you should work on your off-vocal parts a little bit too
It would make little difference to most people (especially in your genre) but I think that good instrumental makes even a vocal song better
I mean my arrangements are usually something like this
uhmm
🥱
Tyty
THIS A REMIX OR YOUR VOCALS?
i'm kinda dry and got no ideas for music. help?
this remix is no longer a remix it's gonna be a standalone song with no vocals
noice (mouth click sound)
It feels like there are clicking sounds in my mouth?

horny jail for you
i'm trying hard not to say the dreaded n* word but you guys keep triggering me
Noice again that's fire
You're provoking yourself, my friend.
It's all a personal matter, don't you think?
hhhehehehhe idk. iwas nearly banned for saying whi**a only got a warning hhe
i am not a racist (i am)
i mean universally not just black or white
(i'm crazy)
Well, I don't think I remember saying you were racist.
you didn't? sorry...
anyway forget i said anything

relax
What's your name?
Nice, Hvkz
idk it's combo of the first and last letter of my name and last name.
it was supposed to be HAKZ but switch the A with V to look cool, i guess
my name, is Davih
what about you? why BlightSTK?
oh nice where are you from
🇧🇷
Hamza ibn Abdul-Muttalib
sybau or... i'll explode on you
lock yourself in a room with no internet for a week
and you'll probably make a whole album
okay that's pretty good
Btw I made a tape delay simulation effects chain
i don't know what that is but guitar is good and the delay is too fast
tape delay is basically what they had before digital delay was invented
sound was recorded on a tape live and then played back with a delay
oh that's what it is tnx for explaining
i hate everyone equally
Play Lil Peep
Me too.
As a matter of fact, i do hate you for reasons that don't seem to exist.

ayayay

i hate this song but nice job

you're mean bro 😭 😭 😭
no no no i didn't mean anything bad i just said that i hate the song, nothing bout him. he's good

also what is those things on our profiles?
I'm not sure how they're called
why?
nothing just asking

is it normal to have most of your projects be a NEFFEX or BS remixes?
(i never finish them)
I mean most of my projects are my own
weeell
CHEESE.
I haven't been active on neffex discord since forever 😭🥀🙏
some sfx are weird and vocs are kinda over just leave the "idk which way to turn", maybe pitch down and manipulate it to sound different but still in key.
The song itself is good

Vocals are temporary, I'll replace them with real ones (hopefully)
nice vro
good luck
i removed the vocs, changed some notes in the melody(not conviced yet) and changed the kick to a real one from a drum kit

enjoy
extended it a bit
👍
sounds ggoob
tty
ignore
i hate the lead on this
this sounds better
dunno I have troubles hearing this one
feels like it's a bit too high up in the spectrum
i kind of want to make it a bg saw
someone said big saw? (idk what i'm doing
)
😭
me neither
i added a mid bass
i have no idea myself
i feel like its kind of trap mixed with future bass and some industrial thing in 180bpm
a reference track would help but i don't know
this i guess 😭
but like it only gave me the idea for the kick
noice noice look for tracks that sound like what you're making and make a reference track... (i sound just like gpt right now)
use it as your reference track then
maybe yea
H
but its mostly dubstep
which i dont really produce
yeah that stuff is hard, ive been trying to make future bass for 4yrs now and i still suck
anyway good luck, i'd say let's collab but im too nervous i might fuck up or something
i dont have much space in my schedule currently 😭

it's okay, i understand you're busy...
good luck again

If you're trying to make dance or something that would kick you should change the melody to something less abrasive
remove half step transitions and other such things
wip wip
The song itself ends at like 3:30
Anything after 3:30 is just ideas and wips
😭 187 mb
Yep

you should render in mp3 for previews maybe
Mmm it’s fine I delete the previous version either way
The stem folder was 9gb..
💀💀💀
Yeahh
that's a third of what all my projects combined take up
This is what happens when you produce rhythm game music

And I have like 80-ish FL projects

Time to listen to my album again and think about what kind of cover I should make for it
Idk I went for this
Still working on it
ur making this yourself?
😭 I'm not that good with graphic design
Me neither
I mean the best I ever made is this
it's like riding a rollercoaster for the first time... (this is compliment)
That’s kind of the point
I’m happy to hear that haha
i went and remastered this bad boy, i took off the melody because i don't like it anymore
when something is good whomever made it deserves praise...
(i spend a while trying to say something and this what came up)
Haha I see
Also Yeahhh I agree
This lowkey reminds me of the music you hear in some pc building videos 😭
at least it's something
wait this is the updated version i think
Still a wip of ours w
Ofcourse
drums are a little louder than the the other elements in the tracks
or is it supposed to be like that?
Meh kind of
I also want to add some more background stuff I guess
noice noice like ear candy or whatever that they call it
Yeah
And some more pads and stuff
To make it a bit more cinematic/emotional
Oo also funnily enough I made the guitar out of this
like neffex type of cinematic lmao
That’s not really what I wanted to go for

distortion is a life changer, i also made heavy guitar using two basses
Yeahh
Idk I got guitar rig 6 pro for free with my interface
it is good?
I mean I barely use it but from my experience it’s okay
ooh a synth or a cello or whatever through a guitar amp we like that
Okay tnx
it needs a lot of work, it ain't terrible, the piano slaps but the rest not good.
i got this cool idea... what if chasing by neffex was rock?
💀
That's too slow for rock
Also the guitar got no transients but I suppose that's because you're using a plugin
bass
No, just ✌ distorted basses
Sooo... it’s just a concept that i may not finish (i never finish anything)
I like the bass and the jazzy feel but there's overlap and muddiness (is this how they spell muddiness, im kinda of a retarded person lol)
This was a demo of 4 different ways of playing
first was finger plucking then playing with a pick then thumb plucking then slap
I'm kinda bad at finger picking and slap but I've started learning slap
You have a guitar 🎸 noice bruh
I have four
With trial and error you'll be better
for the lyricists here what is your process? like im really struggling to find a process for myself. and then when you write are you just saying the same thing differently in each verse? (ping me or i will probably never see the answer)
Well I usually try to pass along a certain thought or idea by using some elaborate constructions or analogies
Poetry is essentially about saying what you want to say in a complicated way so that not everyone can understand and it's kinda fun to try to solve the puzzle of what the author wanted to say
You have to keep a balance so that the puzzle in question isn't simple and boring but at the same time isn't too hard for people so it's still somewhat engaging and thought-provoking
makes sense... not sure how well that would work for my style that im TRYING to do... im tryign to make lyrics similar to what neffex does you know uplifting and inspirational
It's better than the original imo
It at least keeps up the dynamics
Though I'd record some proper guitars
If i had one and i know how to use it but this song is ass and i had an idea to edit it and i did. (It's still shit)
Maybe I'll record guitars one day
or maybe not
Practice makes perfect lol
actually the riff sounds deadass simple
the problem is that I'm way too lazy to change the strings on my guitar
maybe I'll do it tomorrow
Sure do your thing good luck heheh
btw I cracked the royal road progression
the what? lol
the royal road chord progression
the japanese/anime music one
that makes japanese music sound japanese
pretty easy actually
you just have to follow two major chords with two minor ones (or vice versa) and make all of them 7 chords

(didn't understand none of that but great job)
(hope we see you in the big leagues)
grrr
ive been trying to make a kick similair to
to this
i still have to fix the rumble
but its almsot there
I don't think you can even call that a kick anymore

Rawstyle rainbow kick
Idk @merry hollow do you have any feedback except for
The mix and master
Since I know it’s
Messy
Uhh so not really my genre but there seems to be a lack of b a s s
Are you sure
I mean I could just be used to louder bass? Best to ask multiple people so you can get a common ground of noticeable things
At around the 1:38 mark I feel like the bass is good
Other than that, not really
This is my usual bass setting lol
I use this while also normalizing songs to 100% volume
Damn
I only have an eq to Make the highs lower and the lows mono
And sometimes to reduce the 300-400hz regions
DnB drums sound so good at 130 bpm what lol
that's just a basic rock drum pattern bro
ofc it'd sound good
Its literally all DnB-like sounds
That's exactly why sound design does not matter 🗣️🗣️🗣️
And if you haven't heard many DnB songs, then they're all really similar with the drum patterns, including this which is just remade at 130 bpm
I don't get you
We're even then xd
I meant that it doesn't matter how exactly your drums sound as long as you can tell them apart from eachother
well ofc the samples can be both good or bad but if the samples in question are good then it makes no difference
No-
Different sounds work better in different scenarios, that's why in a lot of packs or kits you'll see for example kicks separated by punchy to clicky to soft to hard
Like how 2 stomp kicks can sound similar and good but if one is making your song sound worse, its safe to say that this might not be the best place to use said kick
Try out more sounds, see what fits and what you like
Whether its related to mixing, general feel, impact, or whatever else
Sound designing didn't just appear out of nowhere for no reason lol
And especially in a lot of EDM genres, sound design is key because of how much layering and mixing needs to be done
Bro I make my music with samples from a shoegaze drum kit and it does not bother me
I have a single drum template for all my needs
which is like 2 options for every main drum
I can go ahead and create a sub and print it and then just knock it up 700 semitones, or I can do what sounds better to me which is going into serum, making a sub bass using a sine wave, layering it with another sine wave that's 700 semitones up and then using a filter and envelope on it to make a harmonic sub layer
Which again- is a you thing
I can't use the same kick in every track because for me it just starts to sound like the same thing again and again
I'm not trying to make 10 VIPs, I'm trying to make 10 different tracks, all that I enjoy
Oh also I was experimenting with the royal road progression and its analogs
I like how the bassline ends
It's not like I've actually written it down or anything
So?
just improvised it
Nothing's wrong with that at all lol
<@&948748342891008040> @Neffex - do you have stems or an instrumental available for Ready to Go, Dangerous, and Backstage? I want to make karaoke tracks to sing at the bar here for myself.
a remix of the unreleased song "Your Smile".
Your tracks would be better but for Karaoke and me singing, nobody will really be listening to the imperfections. - Instrumental for Dangerous --
Ready to go has a lead-in of about 7 or 8 seconds as it starts right there with the lyrics.
Still working on Backstage.
This has the backing "Hey"s in it - so it's how I wanted.
Update...
Changed the drop to something match the tone.
Dayum this is good.
update #2
-better buildup
-Added a melody
Hardstyle chainsomorkers remixxxxxx
https://youtu.be/V0y4aeRXYkA?si=a6yw0liprK3CwSjf
This is actually pretty good🔥
subscribe, a lot of projects are coming soon 🔜 🍪
#audiovisualizer #flstudio #music
#remix #audiovisualizer #musicvisualization #music #rap #musicvisualization #audio #beatmaker #remix #neffexedit

It's pretty good
But the key change is weird
is that a hardstyle thing?
Normally, atleast for me
@blazing obsidian Here then
Noway another hardstyle producer
Well I’m more of a raw / multigenre producer but close enough
idk i have this
the idk hardstyle-ish drop is at 2:45
ooowh right @merry hollow what do you think
idk i also made this not too long ago which is more house idk
I'm actually MercuryFM
This guy
im trying to remember but cant..
😭😭😭 You don't have to say that bro
it's mean 😭😭😭
im not trying to be mean thoughh
.wav
57 mb
😭😭😭
actually @charred steppe teach me how do u make it that there's so much space in ur tracks
Is it like just a lot of different pads and sfx?
yes
usually yess
i love atmos
and stuff
😭
some more textures and ambiance
theres also a lot of grainy botanica textures
oo also remember to eq the frequencies you dont need out
for example in a lead
or chords
you dont really need the low frequencies

Its
Pretty simple
Nah sorry I'm a lobotomite
why is this chat so dead all of a sudden 🥀🥀

Why does this sound like I'm playing it on a vrs tape
Maybe add some mid-range synths to the chorus so it's more like a drop?
Also I don't remember you doing rock stuff
Sounds quite cool indeed
Nvm it was my earphones
Banger song
Probably bcuz i distorted the hell out of the guitar and bass
Like a melody or something?
Actually it's a guitar sample i pitch 7 semitones down and distorted. If i had a guitar i would do it myself but my hands were tied hehe

Actually... it would sound pretty good like that, it fits the theme of the song.
chords
thats what supersaws are lmao
not all supersaws are highs
supersaw is a waveform buddy
saw wave is a waveform
hate to break it to you but there are other waveforms
ik
a supersaw is a combination of saw waves and other waveforms
saw waves were what you thought was supersaws
I know that there's a difference between a saw and a supersaw
Lmao
Isn’t a super saw like
A thing with multiple layers of saws
And pads
And what not
"Layers of saws" like I said, adding more saw waves with other oscillators/waveforms, which in your case is other saw waves
We're like polar opposites in the same fking genre
You produce the raw parts, I do the opposite and produce the melodic partz
mmm kicks...
oo and like i made this for the funsies
I actually did something like this recently for a first drop, it was released a week ago
First official release! And with Kasane Teto too?! I honestly love Vocaloid/UTAUloid music, and wanted to try it. After making a banger hardstyle demo, and receiving approval from great people, I decided to try using OpenUTAU. Learning it was the worst experience of all time (I still don't think I learnt it 😭), but I had a good time once I go...
teto
nicee
This kick is to date still my hardest kick of all time
i uhh idk
i have a lot of hard kick
s
😭
my favorite type is the rainbow kick though
this sounds like an angry rubber band omfg
Oh the colour kicks! Yeah ive seen them in the OPS free pack
I use samples
I make every other instrument instead
Very colourful! (Im so funy)
yeahh
ignore
😭😭😭 your kick has way too much kick
interesting
bro invented bass guitar 🔥🔥🔥
I saw the name aaaa and thought i was that chicken meme hehehehehehe

Did something after a long while @charred steppe @cerulean pike
Still needs a lot of work but its something at least
crazy
🤨 what's that time signature
Dw about it xd
No I want to know
I just zoomed into a normal 1/4 signature to put notes in between, its not a set time signature I'm following or anything
Ooh nice lol
Does this give off desert vibes perhaps
I started using samples and uhh apparently I'm making rap beats now
If so I'm probably on the right track
Just didn't wanna slap an oud on there and call it a day
Its cool but don't know where you got rap beats from
Ooh
I don't think when I speak sometimes
soemtimes I jast say what I feel like saying
Could transition into orchestral edm possibly
Dude the discord ping is throwing me off so bad xd
Fair enough tbh
maybe if you change the mode
I WAS IN A CALL LMAO
like lower the second
yeahh we dont really know what to
do with it
so far it sounds just like generic fantasy videogame battle music
I'm trying to give it a desert like theme without going too stereotypical if that makes sense, like I know yeah phrygian mode or something would make it sound more desert like but at the same time its supposed to be a boss theme soooo
Got it lmao
oowh and this
Orchestral EDM or maybe even DnB
no idea what genre that is
Well you don't have to emphasize the minor second
i mean its in 160bpm so its
You could make it more subtle
Ehh, slow dnb can still work, and you can always just make a tempo automation as long as its done well
True
I'll try that on different sections
Rn I've gotta figure out how the track should actually start and what not
I have 0 structure atm xd
Changed the mixing a bit
Funny story the synth riff is actually a compilation of some Van Halen riffs
yeah bass guitars are cool
Okay this did not work out like I thought lmao
Yeah but again, not for this track at least
Don't mind the lag-
My laptop is struggling xd
Some cool sounds in there
its mostly just
what is this ram consumption brother
rawstyle kicks
btw why is it called rawstyle if it's so super processed
Kontakt takes up a lot of cpu
I mean technically a raw kick would be like an acoustic kick right
😭
rawstyle is basically
a more agressive version of hardstyle
btw I got to play live drums recently and uh I was quite fond of it
I mean like no offense, acoustic sounds are nice but I can't for heaven's sake find good acoustic kicks because all of them are barely audible in whatever I put them with
oo and a subgenre of rawstyle is
xtra raw
which is even more aggressive
and modern xtra raw kicks are
amazing
See
There's a difference between aggressive because it sounds aggressive and aggressive because its actively assaulting your ears
dunno I make music with acoustic drums just fine
😭
You can say that my kicks are inaudible though and it would be a fair point
Yeah but we make very different kinds of music xd
og raw sounds agressive
I will but I also can't say just boost the volume because I know that's not how you or your tracks work
I'm not gonna ask you to put a dubstep kick on a guitar track aside from the memes xd
😭😭😭 this stuff is so processed that I can't even pin down the transient
XD
Yeah same
After transient, length is what matters most imo
It sounds like something you would put over a sarcastic meme video
💔
btw this is like
for a dubstep competition
lmao
Not even close lmao
Now I myself don't do dubstep but @winged matrix seems pretty fond of my style so when I offered to help with making tracks for the competition he did not refuse
That's- still not even close to dubstep
I'm doing the melodic parts in between the drops
also its just
a ringmod
I can only imagine this being in a really old orchestral dubstep song and even then theres not nearly enough layers for that
on stuff
wait is future bass a subgenre of dubstep?
Or a big enough sound
No
Trap
Different origins
Future bass comes from a more melodic style of EDM Trap
😭 Ye you caught me in one no shit
While dubstep comes from old uk garage stuff
futurecore....
Lmao
ugh
layers
I don't wanna be the typical "dubstep's chords need to be 18 octaves" but like- usually they are 2-3 octaves with many different layers
They're used a lot in edm
XD
as a
dtm producer
i can agree that
layers are everywhere
sob
bass.. color bass.. leads
even snares
and harder style kicks
omfg
maybe the reason why my music is alternative is that I like edm but I hate layers
For example, there would be a supersaw, then a cleaner supersaw, then a square, then a choir, then a guitar, then a mid bass, then a bass, then a sub bass, then a high lead layer, then the leads themselves would have usually 2-4 layers too, and there could possibly be counter melodies with 1-3 layers too
@cerulean pike
🤓🤓🤓
Like I'm not even joking there are very many layers in edm music
A lot of people exaggerate it but tbh its not even necessary its already a lot
for me like 3 layers of a synth is already a lot
It can be- see, it depends on why you're layering and what you're layering
In a lot of my tracks one snare layer is usually enough
lead layers
But sometimes I'll get up to 5 for certain tracks
XD
A lot of things matter especially in lead melodies
Because you're thinking of the main body, the high end, the connector between the mids and the lead, the transient, the counter leads
I'll say this, even for the orchestral tracks I'm doing rn, I have a lot of layers just because it sounds better
So try it sometimes
I get if you don't like layers but that doesn't mean they're useless
I have one main violin since its the best base sound, then I have a string section to fill out space and add a high end, then a very high end string, then a lower violin serving as a connector, then a cello for those lows, and then the bass because- well, bass
I'm layering that with choirs too
Then the brass hits are accompanied by staccato strings, multiple octaves of horns, choir hits, impacts, and orchestral drums
And then there's multiple different staccato strings playing the ostinato in the background constantly
And then there's also 2 string sections playing the chords, with another choir playing the root of those chords
coughs Read all this because f u n n y but true
@cerulean pike
XD
And I will also curse you with an ott on the master
Lol
Can't you get the same effect with an EQ?
I think
I mixed it
You will probably have to cut out some frequencies you don’t need
To like
Not make certain frequencies too harsh
And make room for the bass
And high end a bit
Frequencies are controlled with an EQ
Yes
If a bass is made for bass then I will use said bass as bass instead of eq-ing a violin to fill the same spectrum
And also
In an orchestral setting, different instruments are panned to different sides
Each of those aforementioned instruments are panned and eq-ed differently
Flashbacks to that one reel with fucking
A bass is a separate entity that has NOTHING to do with violin parts or whatever
10000 automations
Including different reverbs
I know that, I'm trying to figure out what you mean by just using an eq for all of that
Lmao
then it's not clear to me why you're using layers
A violin or even multiple violins won't fill the complete spectrum
yeah
So I'm using violins to fill a section of it
yeah
Then using other instruments to fill in what is left over
One reason is to make something sound fuller
And better
As in?
I do all of that without layering things
Yeah and no offense because I know you prefer no layers, but your tracks sound empty to me, by a long margin
Alright here's an example
If I only keep one violin how empty it'll sound
Give me a sec to record
Yeah I think I understand now
I just care more about harmonic and rhythmic information than sonic information I suppose
Wait actually layering also applies to vocals too
You can sometimes hear that
Bryce uses a pitched down recording of his voice
Under the main vocals
Since it makes the vocals sound fuller
Yeah ofc
Oops
ait
Wait
That's the wrong vid give me a sec xd
What it sounds like with only 1 violin main sound plus a bass, compared to earlier and you'll see. I get if you don't like the layers, but there is a VERY noticeable difference that would create and to me that difference helps a lot with what I'm going for
Anyhow I gtg rn
Cya everyone have a nice day/night!
waiiit it's actually not that hard to layer synths I guess since I could just create a Patcher instrument and inside of it make all the synths that I need...
I've done it with piano before
That's what your worried about with synths?-
Not the E minor, G minor and B minor disrespect
ignore- helping a friend
I need sm help for vocals as I greatly wanna be an artist, if sm1's up to kinda give sm advice or stuff like that then tanks
I forgot that literally my latest release used some layers
Ooh I see
Wrong person to ask xd, I'm not the type of person to listen to this
No but like did I do a good job at adding layers or not
Uhh again, its all dependent on you, its not the kind of layering I would do so I'd say no but that doesn't mean its wrong in any way
We layer a transient, not necessarily a hi hat, in leads and stuff sometimes
We do transient layering a lot but its mostly for when your leads or chords have no impact for example
We sometimes even do transient layering for sub basses lol
ignore
Excuse me why is your skreamer after the cabinet in the fx chain 😭😭😭
In real life you can't apply any effects to a guitar sound after it's coming out the speakers already
I have no idea what I'm doing @cerulean pike
thing
oh wait I forgot to check this out 😭😭😭😭 sorry
All good lmao
but uh yeah it's hard to make a simulated guitar sound like a real guitar
Yeah agreed
Tbh its like a few days old and I think I already abandoned the idea xd
You need to fiddle with articulation, velocity and rhythm a lot
I do plan on making a track with electric guitars later on
But it'll probably be a long while before that happens
Well if it's nothing hard I could probably help
I appreciate it! But its meant for a mc boss which I probably won't be making for a while
YOOOO Okay wait let me listen
Yay
That's nice
you can actually hear it
I'm ngl the bass feels more upfront than the melody
:p
That's the only constructive criticism I can provide
that's fully intentional
because there's no melody
that high synth is playing a loop
Idk if that was intentional too but it feels a bit too off grid
I get making it natural is one of the main points of any digital instrument in general but a decent-good bass player wouldn't be that far off grid
Unless that was intentional too
Well it's technically on grid but it's syncopated
I see
Don't usually listen to anything with that so idrk what I'm supposed to say to that xd
I mean you can hear the bass punch at 1:23 right
and I think it sounds kinda cool
that's the whole point of the section tbh
Fair
Makes sense then
I tried making a bassline before but I suck at that xd
Also the solo was improvised
I literally have no idea what notes are in there anymore

It's not that hard bro
I mean eh you can just check that by layering a sine wave or something at a high octave then trying to match the note if you really wanted to know
You just take the root note of the chord currently playing and play around
maybe accent some other important notes in the chord
Nah I mean I'm not used to using bass guitars, most of my tracks use either an actual bass, like an orchestral one, or an 808 or a sub bass + layers
And what about times where I don't have chords xd
You still have some kind of harmony implied
Well the thing with bass guitars is that octave jumps are often used
If I take an orchestral track for example I usually have a main lead line with layers, and an ostinato. The closest thing I would have to that are root notes which are played by the bass and cellos, but in those cases I wouldn't be using a bass guitar because yknow- I already go bass
I don't always use bass guitars either but I always compose my basslines even with other bass instruments as if it was a bass guitar
They're used here and there with sub basses and 808s too, what I'm saying is I just generally have a hard time making basslines with bass guitars
Fair enough
wait what
I actually have another fully mixed unpublished track???
I swear that just keeps happening
😭
Nah relatable lmao
Used to happen a lot when I was still releasing
I can't believe it, twice in a row where I can hear the kicks
XD
Well that's until the drop
usually
but here at the end the kicks do something interesting
Which is
I think I layer and distort them and they sorta break the drop
I have no idea what you mean to say by break the drop
I did hear it
Which is why I'm confused
What do YOU mean "what do you mean"
Like where'd I lose you xd
What made you so confused
I don't get what you're trying to say by "breaking" the drop
Tell me like the exact timestamp xd
2:36
Oh I see
What would you say is the most horror inducing scale
One that isn't on the list
Like when there are modulations or borrowed chords
so technically the scale uses 8 or even more notes
not the blues one the blues one is chill
I mean ofc its gonna borrow notes but I don't wanna be producing with no direction in mind xd
Well one interesting chord progression I discovered is Dm - Gm - C - A
I like Dm but if you want something really gross you could take like C#m
Okay then C#m it is xd
Does this kinda work
yeah
though maybe I'd add a syncopated octave jump transition into the next chord somewhere
a fill basically
Got it
Actually bass is just like drums in that regard
You got the rhythm and you got the fills
I think I actually just learned how to mix in the kick

Nice lol
I left the bass thing altogether and I'm now just working on some other orchestral piece xd
That project was actually a test for my new default template
which includes slightly different compression chain and clippers for the main drums
Yes I've learned how to maximize loudness by hard clipping the drums

Got this cool idea but im stuck (i should use reference tracks for inspiration but lazyness got the better of me hehe)
develop the guitar part
😭 then just transpose it so the chord changes
This is a piano that I run through a guitar amp and my cabsim
Oh... didn't thought of that hehe

Noice
ignorer
Here's the expanded idea
see it works just fine
Well maybe the drums could use some expansion as well
If you're using acoustic drums you should add fills in between song parts
Lol
I recorded them from an app called real drum, and sure I'll see if i can do fills
kinda reminds of the clock ticking sound
maybe you should layer that into it as well
Like here in the verse

Arrang...
I need to take this more to the horror side but I think this is decent so far
Not too sure about the chord progression though tbh
😭😭😭 there's only one track why does it take up 7 gigs of RAM and load your CPU by 30 percent
Because I put a whole lot of fx plugins xd
And there's like 8 instruments in there
There's 2 music boxes, 3 violas, a cello, impacts, and sfx
I learned how to use fruity convolver yesterday
I mean I used it before too but
I learned that I can just consolidate tracks and plug them into convolver to get funni effects
Lol
Fair enough
I used to use convolver a lot
Now I just use RAUM for the most part
Also I learned that FM synthesis is a thing
Before this I only knew about additive synthesis
I also got the trial for Bx Aura and even though it ran out a while ago I can still use the default preset and that sounds great
We use frequency modulation a LOT in sound design
Especially hybrid trap and dubstep
