Whenever AntiVirus software blocks access to files, often these types of programs will substitute a library (or executable) with an empty / 0-byte file. Windows will throw a prompt similar to what you’ve shown in the above screenshots in such a case. {odds are that an AV is blocking or otherwise removing parts of the game during the installation or update process}

Please check any security software’s logs or under its ‘quarantine’ section and see if you notice any alerts of actions taken at that path / on the game’s files. If you do, you might be able to “undo” said action (restore the file) after setting an “exclusion” for your game folder. (e.g, for the folder “C:\Program Files\Epic Games\karpatkaPublic\Hotta\” )
-- If restoration is not possible, then you'll need to perform a verify of the game files through the Epic Games Launcher.

Never tested that one admittedly. Far as an issue like this happening immediately following a game update, that's most common. It might take a bit before the AV company whitelists the game's files.

In the short term, an exlusion usually is sufficient to get things working, but again have not used that software personally.

If an exclusion doesn't work, it's also possible that the file is being held open. Sometimes rebooting the system following the addition of such is enough {to get a repair to succeed}, since this will force anything that's holding the assets open to drop those file handles.

Sounds like you're facing VRAM exhaustion with a fresh Windows 10 installation {22H2, installed on 6/22} -- only seen on a brand new 6950XT. No errors observed on a Vega 64 prior-

Far as the UID of "00", this is normal before successfully loging in completely to a world. UID is not synchronized to the client before world connection.

Right, I didn't explicitly change selected world either. The client had a different world designated after 3.0's update was installed on the following launch of the client. This behavior was observed on two systems here.

Basically, just double check that you're on the right world.

If you were required to sign-in fresh. Were you using the persisted sign-in option? e.g, was it a long time since you've logged into that account manually?

Mostly just trying to check if there's any potential that you're on the wrong account. A lot of the time people that get ejected and need to sign-in fresh for instance, will login using a Google account, but as gmail / plain-old-email instead of through the external sign-in provider. (or vice versa)

Rest assured that your progress is not gone, and even if something happened -- it should be recoverable here {e.g, via going through support}. That said, you could also try the following as-well, just incase there's something wrong with the client's persistence and if you're not signing into the correct account for whatever reason.

%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Roaming\tof_launcher\

Re-open the launcher, re sign-in, and see if your character is available this time.

The above will more or less "factory reset" the launcher and client, and in some cases that can get things out of weird-states. {on the assumption the account you're using is the correct one}

It looks like the launcher states that it's downloading / updating. In this case I'd recommend you check in the Windows Task Manager, specifically the "performance" tab and see if you see network traffic.

-- If there's high bandwidth usage, processor usage, or anything else to indicate activity -- it might be wise to let the launcher continue and assume that the visible display may be wrong. If not, you might see if you can pause and resume the download. Or, cancel and restart it, since it's not that far along from the display.

Hello hello! I played ToF a while ago and uninstalled. Wanted to get back into the game, but none of my emails or accounts work to log in, which i'm quite sad about. Is there A) any way to log in that isn't via google or twitter account (or line or facebook as i dont have those), or b) any way to figure out how to log in via UID/Username? I guess I'm also curious if a guest account saves even after you log out, as that is the only other explanation I can think of... My old account definitely still exists. Basically, am I entirely fucked to where I should just bite the bullet and start over lmao

Well if your account was binded toward steam / epic / infinite, yes you can use the other. But you need to bind them at 1st place before forgetting your original account.
If you're sure the old login used one of your email, test them with lost password. See if one of them 'hit' : /
Otherwise, you have to test your luck with support ( [e-mail] ) if you only have UID as info.

The EGS provided rendition of the game explicitly logs in with an Epic Account. You’d need to have bound your Epic Account as a sign-in method first, before launching the game – in order to access your old game account.

As long as you've not directly logged into the game on Epic, it should. The act of launching the game I believe is what generates a new binding.

Course, if the Epic account can't be bound, and isn't listed as clean anymore -- then unfortunately that's when you'd need to get support involved.

If you can bind the account, then you're effectively set. Launching through EGS would be safe afterwards {access the correct game-account}.

Probably the "Prefer Maximum Performance" is what did the trick there, though it's weird for NVidia's clock control to be problematic. {as in that their drivers usually do a good job here on the default / automatic power management profiles}

If you alter the Windows Desktop Resolution, rather than the game resolution -- this would be a workaround here {e.g, the fullscreen will keep / respect the desktop's res}. If that's not doable, another option would be using UE's built in display scaling, yet there's no options for this in the game itself, it'd need to be done manually.

The optimal route with the hardware that you have, is to do this via the Desktop Res -- since the engine's scaling still incurs some cost.

There's a few freeware utilities out there, such as Nirsoft's "nircmd" -- which permit scripting changing of the desktop's res. I believe Microsoft also has a powershell scriptlet that can do this.

-- Not convenient persay, yet might make things less hassle to look into making a quick batch file to set and restore resolution before and after playing Tower of Fantasy. You could also file #932914069395091456 on this, if you have any opinions on improvements to the game's engine settings itself -- like fullscreen mode selection.

anyone here have issues with having insanely impossible slow download on TOF launcher?

I have a friend encountering this issue, i don't think it is internet problem (i downloaded the patch in 20minutes) since we using same provider and the internet speed on their side is fast (according to them they were able to have smooth internet aside updating the game which crawl super slow and just stop sometimes). Other than that I am trying to help to see if i can narrow it down to certain issues. Any suggestions and ways I can pinpoint and solve the problem?

The rate fluctuates a lot, depending on if I'm doing anything or not in the game etc. though it's always an average of about 15 and won't go higher than about 25. It's not exactly at a specific 5 minute mark, more like the game can only run for around 5-10 minutes before it inevitably drops down to the 10-20fps and extreme lagging

Hardware is more on the entry level side -- so I wouldn't necessarily expect thermal throttling.

However, the 9300H and 1650m are 2019 products (launch date wise). How many years old is the laptop? Has it ever had a deep cleaning or re-paste? Have you checked on the temps while playing?

Probably the way to go about this would be to look at system telemetry while playing and see if you can observe anything that might indicate what's happening. A 1650m might also be GSync capable {depending the panel}, so it might be worth testing with GSync disabled.

I did buy it in 2019 I believe, though it went through a repair in 2020 to fix a faulty fan. It's definitely heating up a lot when I run ToF, but I don't have these problems running any other similar games a full day if I wanted to which is why it baffles me ;-;

Would have to go through the other types of games that you play. Though Tower of Fantasy puts a deceptively high level of load on hardware, despite being an anime-esque art-style game.

Definitely it's worth checking on the temps, since a gradual decline over 5-10 minutes would fit with the build up of heat and hitting thermal mass.

If it's temps, then yes. A deep cleaning and re-paste can be done as long as you're comfortable opening the system and working on it. {don't need to take it anywhere for that}

Usually that's all that's needed if a laptop is overheating.

Laptops are more susceptable to "thermal pump-out" than desktops, due to reaching higher temps more frequently and the fans ramping up and down slower in response (generally). Just like desktops, they need routine maintenance too.

Basically, every 2-3 years on average.

Anyway -- the good news is that thermal paste is quite cheap, and long as your fans work. We're talking of this being a repair job that only costs a few dollars {and perhaps an hour of your time}.

Either the folder is corrupt or its permission is broken.
Then launcher the game again normally.
This time set 1st everything ( you also might need to find your server again ), then test with quit and relogin. See if your issue persist.
If the issue still there, when trying to start game, right click on the shortcut and choose run as administrator, set everything again and test with quit and relogin.
If the issue still there once more, something is triggering that hotta folder to become read only.

You have connection issue.
Try to restart your modem / router so your isp can give you a fresh IP and then run cmd with run as administrator and type ipconfig /flushdns
If that's still recurring, something is wrong between ISP and the server. You might need VPN for a while but don't purchase things while using VPN.

Trigger a 1st change ( you can fix this later ). Change that move forward to U.
Then close the game, and go to : C:\Users<window user>\AppData\Local\Hotta\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor find input.ini file. Edit it manually using notepad or the like.
Ex this line : AxisMappings=(AxisName="MoveForward",Scale=1.000000,Key=U) , change that U to W or whatever button you want as move forward.

If you want a complete WASD bait, change the default WASD into something else then save via in game, then quite game and change manually via that input.ini file manually.

I figured it out, I needed to complete the first two missions in the first vera chapter to unlock it.

Android ? Recommend to keep having 40GB empty space.
The game itself require ~16GB for game files ( depend on version ) and extra ~5GB for loading cache.
When updating, it will download another ~16GB ( depend on patch ) before applying said update.

If you already provide 40GB free space and the game keep telling you not enough free space, that's a bug, and an ANNOYING one.
Best way to work around it is by keep restarting device before attempting to update.

Go to windows search bar and type device manager -> expand tree on display adapter -> you should find you GPU there.

Your pc spec is high end and probably your GPU too. Usually you need to set the game to use DX12 from game launcher menu. Menu is located at top right -> system.

Would advise installing the 1080. While the 4700G isn't bad persay, it's still integrated graphics, and slower than an entry level GPU like the Geforce 1650.

Still a pretty decent processor on the CPU front, yet you might need to pair it with discrete graphics to really get those high framerates.

Prospectively, the 4700G has less cache in trade for the graphics cores and ranks just slightly behind a 3700X. Yet especially with its power budget not used by the graphics cores, I'd expect it to perform more than alright.

Just make sure that you double check on the PSU in there if it's a prebuilt. APU systems tend to have weak power supplies, so make sure that its rails can handle that 1080 and that the case is ventilated.

Have your friend begin troubleshooting by restarting all Internet equipment (router / modem / CPE), if they have not already done so. If that doesn’t improve the situation, and if it doesn’t clear up on its own -- they will likely need to get in touch with both their Internet Provider and Tower of Fantasy’s support teams. {see #game-support } As they're being dropped from the game, it might be a good idea to use either the website contact form, or email.

In the case of the ISP, they'll want to explain the service that they're having issues with. Meaning to mention Tower of Fantasy and the server region that you’re connecting to. Likewise, when contacting Tower of Fantasy’s support team – they'll want to provide them with their location, IP address, ISP, a description of the problem [servers it’s observed on], and any other details of that nature that they can – such as if it only happens during certain instanced play, or at certain times of day. {try to have them observe if there's any "time of day" relation to the disconnections or latency increases}

-- The goal is to get both ends of the equation here so to speak to look for anything wrong in each transit direction, with the hopes that something is found for a long-term solution. Customer Support may also be able to authorize exploring other options that we cannot recommend openly here to try to narrow things down.

Abrupt issues can and do tend clear up on their own. Other services within the same region on similar datacenters (even if you're not aware of which other services) probably are also having issues. The ISP is likely receiving complaints on these services. Just the same, reporting the problem can't hurt in speeding the process up of getting it resolved, or in finding a workaround in the meantime.

Just on the description, it sounds like they're experiencing packet loss. It's unlikely that restarting equipment will help, more likely that it's routing in nature -- yet it never hurts to try.

You'd generally start by restarting all Internet Equipment. If that doesn't work {specifically since you can't log in at all}, you can try a third-party DNS such as Google's {8.8.8.8, 8.8.4.4}, or Cloudflare's {1.1.1.1, 1.0.0.1}. Should that fail, you'll likely need to get in touch with your ISP and Tower of Fantasy's support.

In jist: The error means that either:

a) The address of the login services cannot be resolved.
b) There's no route to said services.

Ideally, far as a long term solution -- you'll likely need your ISP's assistance. The problem might also clear up on its own.

Tracert the server is the only way.
When you connected to the mobile data and enter the game ( after selecting server ), open task manager -> perfomance tab -> resource manager -> network activity -> find qrls.exe
You should see what is the server IP.
Open cmd with run as adminitrator and type tracert <insert ip number> while you are using wifi.
Since you are on wifi, make sure the signal is actually good, also restart your modem / router.
If possible change your dns at network adapter setting to 1.1.1.1 or 8.8.8.8 ( cloudflare or google ).
When using tracert, you won't reach the actual ip, it is protected, but you can see how stable is your isp from step 2-15 . If you see lots of network unreachable at 2-15, your isp is unstable.

If changing ingame setting like using lowest or original won't do a thing, test with android display setting or battery setting. Try to turn on off dark mode or fullscreen mode and not using battery saver setting toward TOF.

Make sure you actually select correct server, after closing news/announcement window, click on server name top of enter button, should find your old character.
And if you did account binding, do it correctly, otherwise you ended up with 2 accounts.
But if you did got hacked or something, report it to [e-mail]

Current version should be 3.1 🤔 ... not sure if that app v3.0.0. something is designation from ios app store.
Check all update regarding ios 1st before trying to install TOF.
After doing all that, restart your device and try to install TOF, check your internet as well, make sure it is a stable one.
A bit of warning on ios product with bionic chip like yours, currently there's a compatibility problem. You might suffer lots of crashes.

Mobile version won't allow you to tinker with graphic setting at server selection page ? Check again after closing news/announcement windows.
There should be a button somewhere which allow you to change graphic setting.

For battery setting or other ios setting, you need to look at your ios app. There should be setting app.
Another thing to try is to bind account toward other login method and login through there. Ex : bind to google and login via google or bind to infinite and login via infinite.

Hmm, looking around seem to be background conflict.
Open msconfig -> service tab -> hide micrososft service -> then remove checkmark from everything except your gpu + processor + sound. Restart and test the game.

ios with bionic chip have compatibility issue, M chip like ipad air should be just fine.
But this might also related to other ios setting like battery or display. If ios can have individual app setting for battery or display, please try them. Like not using battery saver or full power or not fullscreen / not dark mode / etc.
Another thing to try is to bind your account to another login method and then use said login method to see if your device still crash or not.

AFAIK, android should be fine although from time to time you might get hit by graphical glitch like fog issue and what not which requrie changing way to login ( from google to infinity or the other way around ).
Also some event which require better camera view will be troublesome to participate.
Bear in mind, so far updating on android / ios = reinstall.

It does, but your step by step is probably wrong.
You should bind 1st your account to steam before installing steam version.
If you didn't bind 1st and just straight installing steam version, you will have 2 accounts instead.

If you're on wifi, restart modem and router so ISP can give you better IP.
If on mobile data, turn it off and on again after a while ( 2-3 mins ) so ISP can give you better IP.

and by the look of it, you already claimed the advanced one.

For starters, try checking if any crashdumps are generated. For the Steam version of the game these will appear as subfolders under "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Hotta\Saved_Steam\Crashes\".
You can find that location by doing the following:

Paste in: %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Hotta\Saved_Steam\Crashes\

Since there's a lot of misconception on binding order. If you're looking to bind a new account {Google, Facebook, Pass, etc}, you first sign into a method that accesses your "current" game-account. From there, either via the launcher's Account Center, or ingame through the Settings Menu (under Compliance) on mobile -- you associate the "new" method of login that you wish to use.

Once associated, you can then safely sign-in using that method. If a login method is used before association, then launching the game will generate a new game-account and associate this with the newly used sign-in method. {Once an association is formed [between game-account and sign-in method], there is no automated means to break that association-}

Recommend to have at least 40GB.
The game size is ~15 GB ( as current patch ), it will require extra 5 GB to operate as cache file.
When a major update come, it will download an extra of ~15 GB ( depend on patch size ) before applying and then self delete download files.

Be aware, there's a bug for device installation where even a free 100GB will still receive such a message, if that happened, rebooting before every attempt of installation is required.

If you're using a virtual audio mixer, such as VoiceMeeter -- that's known to cause audio dropouts {also game-crashes}. If not, you might find that updating your sound drivers resolves the issue, "or" using Microsoft's Generic Audio drivers instead of the manufacturer's (Realtek, etc).

There's also been a few reports that setting the output frequency high, such as 192khz can cause crackling or dropouts. If you're doing anything like that, try dropping back to 24bit / 48khz.
