Large displays should work fine as long as they're standard aspect ratios. Even 8KHD displays for that matter~

@hasty tide -- By crash to you mean that you're disconnected, or that the client completely closes? {assuming that the client is closing here}
@astral isle -- Radeon RX 6000 series should normally be stable with the game on any drivers past 22.5.1.

Take a look under "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Hotta\Saved\Crashes" and see if you see any folders in this location. {double check that the timestamp lines up with the recent closures} [or, Saved_Steam, if the Steam version]

If you can archive a couple of the most recent of these crash-dump folders {e.g, with winrar, winzip, 7zip, etc} and send me them (via DM's) -- would be glad to take a look and see if we can figure out what's going on here.

@hallow silo -- No current workaround to resize or migrate the UI-text. {e.g, this is a bug and is not isolated to your system}

@signal fractal -- Most likely you're on an NVidia RTX Graphics Card. If that's the case, then disabling DLSS in the display portion of settings should immediately drop that memory usage. {as Yamada mentioned earlier}

• You'll also find a pin on this topic with a more "thorough" workaround -- such as if you're also experiencing crashes on startup, or need to recooperate some performance.

@cobalt blaze -- Whenever the Vera Update was pushed out -- the launcher was altered / started the game in a different fashion vs prior {in effect forcing the highest supported D3D API version to be used}.

Many players on older graphics cards were using "workarounds" {*lots of players on Polaris and under [on the AMD side], and Kepler and under [on the NVidia side] *} as directed by support to drop the engine down to --D3D11--, for stability or to get the game starting. The newer launcher was forcing these setups to start the game under D3D12 once-again, resulting in those systems returning to the crashes that they had prior faced. {or rendering them unable to start the game at-all}

• In jist, this was a quick stopgap solution to get those players to be able to enter the game once again.

@steady valve -- What exactly happens whenever you attempt to make purchases using credits from your Steam Wallet? Was able to just a matter of days ago.

Reading through the chat history, it sounds like you might just not be seeing the Steam Store browser / prompt. Make sure first and foremost that the Steam Ingame Overlay is enabled (both globally and for Tower of Fantasy).

Whenever you said that clicking to purchase just made the game "lag a bit", I'm guessing the purchase window never pops up at all. Which probably implies that the Steam Overlay isn't functioning right.

It may be a good idea to try hitting SHIFT + TAB as well, and see if the overlay can present itself.

Indeed, the aspect ratio doesn't work well with how FOV is calculated by the engine, specifically using the Horizontal Axis as the dominant. This results in the top and bottom of the screen in effect being chopped off -- or what people call the camera looking like it's extremely zoomed in.

Sadly, there's no good workaround for this. It'd require developer involvement / proper ultrawide (or super ultrawide), or whatever you want to call it -- support.

Best that we can recommend here right now is to drop a line, and file #932914069395091456 -- expressing interest in the feature.

I take it the DLSS is the thing that can cause TOF to crash due to running out of memory? I just had a crash right now because of memory shortage, but i seem to only have a chance of experiencing the crash while playing the game and opening up / starting up something else on my pc. I looked it up and people say DLSS can cause memory leaks so i have it turned off, although looking into the task manage still shows the game often running at 98-100% memory, occasionally dropping down to 30-40% for a second

Just be aware that you may find the DLSS setting does not persist between starts. You might also find that you need to totally disable NVidia's NGX support, or that disabling DLSS was not sufficient for crashes at startup.

There's a pin on this if you wind up having further problems.

Assuming you mean that the launcher shows in the system-tray ... yet there's no associated window, nothing in the taskbar --- and that the launcher doesn't show on "double-clicking" the tray-icon?

Have you tried the basics such as restarting the machine already? {judging from message history [just dug back] -- probably did, since I see a repeat of asking that on 9/18}

In a case like this, and looking at the date, recommendation would be to try reinstallation of the launcher.

By crash, do you mean that you're disconnected and dropped back to the server select, or that that the client closes? Have to ask, since people are describing disconnects as crashes with instanced runs.

Gotcha, so the disconnect type, where it's not possible to re-log until the instance times out. Do you have access to any other form of Internet Connection that you can experiment with? Cellular Tethering for example.

For why it's happening, Kirixsa is probably on-track there in that something on the machine may be interfering with the launcher updates. That an update is performed, and for whatever reason the files can't be written properly -- leaving things in a broken state.

If you have any third party security software on the machine (beyond Windows Defender) -- you may find that these incidents stop happening with whitelisting the game (and launcher) folder.

It's certainly something commonly reported. Though just remember that connection speed and reliability of other games or services does not mean that there's no routing issues to the game-servers {to Tower of Fantasy specifically}. I recall reading a thread a few days ago of a person on FTTH (home-fiber) reporting that they could only join Joint Ops through a VPN.

We don't generally encourage folks to use such, and there's clauses in the user-agreement that prohibit their use under normal circumstances. Yet I'm mentioning this just the same in this case. [to drive home the connection point]

After some trials and errors, I managed to launch the browser again after adding only the main program, QRSL.exe to the exception. Location is as follows

@gleaming swift -- If you're talking of a resolution when in fullscreen mode, the engine should respect the desktop's resolution (e.g, lowering this would result in running the game at a lower-res).

Alternatively, there's a pin on DLSS that indirectly has a solution of reducing the resolution scale. This was proposed for improving performance for those that needed to disable DLSS, yet will also work on hardware that does not support DLSS {as well as on AMD & Intel}.

If your desktop resolution is 1920x1080, the launcher should be able to fit in entirety on the screen provided that DPI scaling isn't set over 100%. Odds are that this is the cause.

One possible solution without losing your multimonitor setup, would be to arrange your displays on a diagonal (in Windows' layout manager).

This will make it very difficult for the cursor to enter the other screen unintentionally.

Yes, Windows has a way to override / disable DPI scaling on a per application basis:

- navigate to: "\Tower of Fantasy\Launcher\"
- right-click on "tof_launcher.exe", and select "properties" {might also need to do this for tbs_browser.exe}
- select the "Compatibility" tab {from the top of the dialog}
- select "Change high DPI settings"
- check the "Use this setting to fix scaling problems for this program instead of the one in settings" checkbox
- check the "Override high DPI scaling behavior" checkbox
- make sure that "Application" is the selection in the dropbox (it should be the default)

Though, generally on a 1080p display you'd want to consider setting the scaling to 100% globally to avoid problems in other applications overall.

@earnest flame -- Loading speed boils down to mostly four things:

CPU, RAM, IO {disk}, and connection. Best starting point would be ruling out that the non-connection side of things and looking for any potential bottleneck, unless you're saying that the game loads faster {for sure} when using a VPN, as that would point more towards some form of connection relationship.

@hasty tide -- The game worked properly for you in the past, right?
Since I note screenshots and other discussion hinting at this, would recommend that you try wiping your settings and seeing if that gets the game back in to a usable state.

• Try clearing out the contents of: "%USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Hotta\", whenever the game and launcher are not running, then re-starting the game.

Most likely routing related then, if it spontaneously cleared up. Just as abruptly as connection problems begin, they tend to clear.

10-15 seconds would be sufficient time for Windows to capture a minidump, so that's possibly what's happening here. From the description of a freeze, I assume that the display stays showing a still image and not a bluescreen though -- right?

Ah, seems that I missed your earlier message. Unfortunately, having raytracing capable hardware won't enable the feature, as currently the engine is dropped down to d3d11.

The feature is missing as a result of the API-Level used. This doesn't mean it won't come back in the future.

Whenever the Vera Update was pushed out -- the launcher was altered / started the game in a different fashion vs prior {in effect forcing the highest supported D3D API version to be used}.

Many players on older graphics cards were using "workarounds" {players on Polaris and under [on the AMD side], and Kepler and under [on the NVidia side]} as directed by support to drop the engine down to --D3D11--, for stability or to get the game starting. The newer launcher was forcing these setups to start the game under D3D12 once-again, resulting in those systems returning to the crashes that they had prior faced. {or rendering them unable to start the game at-all}

• In jist, this was a quick stopgap solution to get those players to be able to enter the game once again. It's probably temporary.

Though we definitely understand what you're saying here too, or why it feels misleading.

Most likely you're on an NVidia RTX Graphics Card (most common cause of the leakage). There's a pin on this topic, yet in jist -- DLSS / NVidia NGX interactions with the engine cause the VRAM (and also system RAM) to inflate quickly.

Disable DLSS and it should stop happening.

As the poster mentions, this is modification of files used by the game -- even if those files are from an official source such as NVidia. We generally still advise against doing this, and waiting for an official fix down the road if that's possible.

Hello, I recently ran into a problem when I was playing Joint Operation, I was thrown out of the game in the server selection lobby. this was before the 2.0.9 update
, after that I could not log on to the server for another whole day (the download reached 90% and I was thrown back into the server selection
I waited for the 2.0.9 update in which these bugs were supposed to be fixed, but I couldn't get in. I reinstalled the game, it didn't help. reinstalled the client - did not help. However, I have 2 accounts on two different servers - Excalibur, where I can log in, and Estrella, where all my main progress is and where I can't log in. I also tried logging into my Estrella account from another computer and everything works, but I can't do it from my computer anymore. What could be the problem?

Before I start I want to mention that I have a Ryzen 7 5800x, rtx 3090 asus strix gpu, 32 ram 16x2 at a frequency of 3600 Mhz cl 18, 1200 watt platinum power supply and mother x570 tuf. I consider that I have a good pc, when I play TOF I put all the settings to the maximum and the frames to 120Hz and this gives me a lot of fps problems in open world and in group battles, sometimes alone, is this normal? It is worth mentioning that I have my components in undervolt both cpu, gpu and ram in DOCP, also the game starts to consume a lot of ram periodically until it wants to use all the ram and I have to restart it. They are constantly making switcheroos with game optimisation, or how it works...So it's a problem for everyone. Some ppl said it's because they switched to forcing the game using the DX11 again. I myself noticed that it was quite bad with stuttering and lag before 2.0.7 update, but newer updates made it bad AGAIN. So yes, it's entierly the game's fault it run's like crap. Also the RAM problem...Turn off DLSS, they use some outdated version, and it causes the game to crash sooner or later due to memory leakage.

@gritty crow – This is something we can’t provide a timeframe on, unfortunately. However, that performance hit that you’re seeing going from D3D12 down to D3D11 is ‘extreme’ and likely hints at something else going on here.

@regal spire – Inability to log into a server on a specific computer, interesting. Presumably both of the computers are on the same Internet Connection and network as well?

Will DM you collect more details on both of those machines, especially if it's the case that they're both on the same connection.

@sterile sluice – That both of your side weapons are locked, and you only have access to the weapon in slot “E”?

I’ve actually seen this happen as well, though only in instanced content where the weapon page can’t be opened. It seems to happen during packet-loss {have been able to make it happen more often playing with artificially induced loss with netem}, and does not effect everyone.

@lean galleon – How long ago was the last time that you logged into your character before this happened? Was this pre-Vera?

If the last login was pre-Vera, then it would be before changes were made to the account binding system, and back whenever unbinding an account did not require going through customer support. It’s possible that this is a case of account-theft, and that your game-account has been disassociated from your sign-in method.

For any instances like this one -- you’ll need to contact customer support and request that your game-account be investigated. Since you can’t access your characters anymore, and because the game-account currently bound may well be a new account, the recommendation here is to do so by email.

That may be done via the following email address:

Be sure to include as much details on your game-account as you can. The last time that you’ve signed into it, where you login from {regionally – country, state, etc}, the character name, UID, and server that you play on, any details that you can on financial transactions (such as from your bank’s side), etc.

Support will ask you for these details, yet the more that you can provide them upfront, the better. In effect they’ll need something to go on in order to locate your game-account, associated character(s), and to investigate what exactly happened.

It’s also a good idea to double check the email / sign-in method that you’re using if there’s any slim chance that you might’ve used another address.

@merry oar – What type of GPU load and temperatures are you seeing that’s prompting the alarm of damage? Also, what resolution and settings are you running at?

High GPU utilization might be normal. Graphics Cards also tend to be tuned for noise-level rather than temperature, and there may be something easy that can be done about this – such as creation of a custom fan-ramp {to exchange higher noise for lower temperatures}.

@modest kite – No crashdumps being generated, interesting.

Since you seem technically versed here, have you also looked under the Windows Event Viewer, Application section? [To check if the engine is crashing during or before the crashdump collection]

Even if there’s no crashdump, the engine log (Hotta.log) probably exists and might give a hint of what’s happening. Possible that you can DM me a copy of a log from one of these incidents?

@severe star – Disabling NGX support, in effect disables DLSS, which means rendering the game at an effectively higher-resolution. That means higher GPU load {more work}, and longer frametimes in general, which might equate to larger frametime spikes in delaying the rendering thread for longer. {e.g, it might be easier to notice frametime inconsistency}

-- You may see if reducing the render scale makes for lesser stutter, as suggested in the pin. {though of course that comes with a quality tradeoff, it similarly will reduce GPU-load as DLSS does}

@stone tulip – One thing that stands out is that you mentioned having an RTX 3090, and also a rapid memory leak requiring restarting the game.

Have you attempted disabling Nvidia’s NGX support {see the pin on this}, or DLSS through the ingame settings?

@thick summit – If disabling fullscreen-mode improves your performance, it might be that this is the lower resolution. It might also be that Windows’ “fullscreen optimizations” have some relationship here.

Try the following:

- Navigate to: “\Tower of Fantasy\Hotta\Binaries\Win64\”
- right-click on QRSL.exe, and select “properties”
- select the “compatibility” tab
- check “Disable fullscreen optimizations”
-- OK the properties dialog

Fire back up the game and see if this has any positive impact on your stuttering.

@brazen bobcat – Yes, you can pay using Steam Wallet -- at least whenever signed in through the Steam Version of the game.

@lavish zinc – What happens whenever you attempt to purchase the battlepass? Have you succeeded in purchasing the pass, yet not received the goods?

In general, anything billing related (or missing items), needs to be handled by customer support. {aka, that you’ll need to open a support ticket as detailed in #game-support , unless it’s a more technical-problem – such as the store itself not loading}

@digital jewel – Assuming that the Twitter login worked for you in the past, and that it’s stopped working.

Generally a blank or white-screen for any of the browser related prompts {at least when this starts happening abruptly} indicates connection problems. [that the page cannot be reached, or that the loading of it is stalled]

If you haven’t already restarted all Internet equipment (modem, router, etc), please try that first. If not, if you have access to any other form of Internet Connection, you might be able to use that to sign-in to the account {as a stopgap solution}.

• If this persists longterm, it tends to be something that’ll need involvement of the ISP. {this is all assuming that the suggestion from others earlier does not work}

For a 3060 at 1080p (reading across your posts in tof-discussion as well), at 52c, that honestly does not sound bad or like any cause for concern. Actually in-line with what I'd expect here.

You can probably raise the fan curve with MSI Afterburner if 52c were to make you at all uncomfortable. Though this is a pretty modest temperature.

DLSS drops the effective rendering resolution in half. (half the pixels)

The menus themselves may not drop in perceived resolution, yet the game scene is actually still being pumped out "behind" what you can see in there {behind the menu screen}. This is why the menu load is so high.

Reducing the resolution {or resolution scale} would have the same effect as enabling DLSS on temps and load. There's actually a pin that details this on the DLSS issue.

Though, this will also look much worse (subjective) vs DLSS as an upscaler. Personally though, I would not fret the load temperatures that you've shown here, and I wouldn't drop the game's resolution.

If you're concerned, you could try that though.

Graphics Cards are built to run their entire lifespan in the 70-80c range. It's true that "technically speaking" every 10c halves the lifespan of hardware {thermal accelerated wear test studies}. Yet at the same time, you could also run those cards for their entire effective life {potentially a decade} --in the 70's-- until they're no longer useful in games and you're upgrading to the next hardware.

They also usually have quite a bit of headroom on their fan ramps, if you want to keep them cooler.

Ah, intermittent, fairly infrequent, but also constantly happening. Either way you're seeing things that hint at packet-loss beyond just the arsenal not loading in properly.

Best bet for a long-term solution would be to try to get your ISP and Tower of Fantasy's support involved:

In the case of the ISP, you'd want to explain the service that you're having connectivity issues with (e.g, mention Tower of Fantasy), and when contacting Tower of Fantasy's support, you'd want to provide details on your ISP / where you're connecting from [along with your IP address].

^ The goal is to have both ends (your Internet Provider and Tower of Fantasy's support) look at routing in each direction, and hope that something problematic is found (in either direction).
