when i use "Weapon HUD editor" in debug menu, it either breaks other guns, or goes back to default. reloading save doesn't fix, quitting and restarting gamma makes it go back to default.

weapon HUD editor is a debug tool for you to get the values to put into a config and then apply that config via a mod (in this case I'd recommend DLTX method)

any good editor for Direct Draw Surface files (.dds)? I am trying to edit one with Xn View MP but when I save it it messes up for some reason

Paint.NET or Gimp. I prefer the former as it's much faster at saving them. For editing I'd convert them to PNG and edit with something else, unless you only want to move parts of the texture around because they're quite limited at editing. Once you're done, open the PNG and export as DDS again. When you do that , make sure to select this option in Paint.NET to eliminate compression artifacts. Or pick DXT5 from the top but that might introduce weird discoloration sometimes

For GIMP I use "None" for compression, and "Default" for format, since idk what any of these are XD I use DXT5 if the textures are large since that can save lots of space, and interestingly in that case it doesn't seem to produce discolored compression artifacts

Your best bet might be CNPP if you are monolith, the army base near Agroprom if youre military, army warehouse base if youre Freedom or 100 rads if youre Duty.

Clear sky actually has a pretty safe base. Never seen hostiles attack the place itself, due to all the forcefield and shrubbery around it.

I don't see the point of the gamma minimalistic making dynamic, what would you hide? the whole thing? you can already do that by pressing H. here at least everything is separated and bigger so it makes more sense to hide these elements

i guess you could alway choose to autohide the different limb health elements and the doll itself only showing them on screen when theyre damaged same for radiation bar and stamina bar, would probably look a bit shit if the black background was enabled
whatever you end up making definitely looking forward for a release of this, apart from the autohide feature for the stamina bar a dynamic hud is something i havent seen yet in stalker so im definitely stoked for this, keep it up bud verynice

How can I create extra placeable items? For context I want to add additional gas lamps (or other types of light sources) with different color, while keeping the originals intact. And I want to essentially copy an existing light's properties, just give it a different light color and name to make it an individual new item but all the models and textures should be the same

oh, if you just want to make different variants of the lights, you'd just need to duplicate the sections for the: item, physical object, and light definitions, and change the relevant references in the configs

Kind of LUA script philosophy question
I am not expert of lua scripting, I am more of an obj oriented language, like java,c++ , guy
I noticed these scripts have no coherence or planning regarding use of global variables and method calls
For instance in one script it's repeatedly called within functions thorough the script, the same static (I guess) method ActorMenu.get_maingame() to access an object and update the gui, while it would make sense to make it a global variable call it once at script initialization and access it during the whole lifecycle of the script
Do these call are not expensive at all as not to require this kind of conservative approach to coding?

How can I add items into debug spawn menu? I'm still working on custom lights and they do work as expected (haven't gone into crafting recipes yet), but I can only spawn them via debug by typing their name in, they don't show up in the visual or text item list anywhere, but they should be in the same category as the regular yellow gas lamp and other hideout items

And why doesn't my custom lamp use the texture I defined for it? It ends up being empty. But the way the default one is used is also really strange since unlike most textures it doesn't point towards an exact texture ID, it only points to a texture file that has a number of different icons in it, with no further references as to which icon should the game be using for this item. I couldn't find a textures_descr file for this icon either

The first time I load the game it works.
I can enter the MCM menu and I see the mod menu tab in the mcm I can click the mod menu and all the options are visualized and the values are saved in the axr_options.ltx file.

Oh sweet, sweet success. The fourth value is the culprit of your shots hitting to the sides of your crosshairs, even when doing a quick 3-shot burst.

Hey everyone, I'm reworking on a mod that makes stashes rarer in general, this is just a rework from user Grulag, who did bunch of little mods for gamma long time ago.
I personally like this change to the game, makes map less cluttered with stashes, and makes each one of them more unique and exciting, and so I'd like to share this in the mod posting section.

Yes, you need to modify this file ui_options.script, search for the word weight, the rest is pretty easy

You can set it to anything you want, then in-game, you need to change your max allowed carry weight
Go to = Settings, Gameplay and Gameplay difficulty, there you can move the slider up-to the amount you modified in the file previously

However, please note that if you change anything in the difficulty menu, your Iron Man run will not be eligible for the Invictus achievement.

You have 2 ways to go about it. It seems like the icons are in [your Gamma folder]\mods\G.A.M.M.A. Icons\gamedata\textures\ui\ui_icon_equipment.dds which you can open with GIMP or Paint.Net

🔹 You can copy this texture into a new folder inside [your Gamma folder]\mods while keeping the same subfolder structure, and change the icons as you like them. Open the DDS file with one of the mentioned software and either edit it or save as PNG and edit them in another software if you want. It's a huge file, the magazines are located on the left side around the vertical center. The icon size for them is 50x100 px for each. After you're done save it back to DDS. In MO2 this new folder inside mods will show up on the bottom, turn it on and you should have the modified new icons ingame

🔹 Modify the config file to use a different texture file altogether, but I'm struggling to find their config file so I can't go into details on that unfortunately. This would be a lot more efficient space wise, considering the default DDS is 128MB

What I did is I copied the existing gas lamp's and psy light's config into a new file and edited the relevant lines such as their name, icon etc. The only difference between them that I can see is there's a "matches required" line in the gas lamp, which doesn't exist in the psy light's config

I just made a copy of the original file through adding the file into archives winrar.
Then I replaced the file with the new DDS using GIMP and since its already checked by MO2 I had to do nothing.

Just make sure you always have a backup of the original, so you can revert to default anytime. That's why adding stuff as new mods is a better way of doing it, especially because you can easily get lost in what mods did you change that you might have forgotten about at some point. With separate, new mods you can easily keep track of them

How practical would it be to have anomalies trigger themselves every so often. Hearing an anomaly triggered 30 meters away as you loot, turn out to be a false alarm. Even just as ambience, I notice that gravity anomalies sometimes trigger or make a noise and it usually makes me alert or jumpy. It also gave me this idea

after you get the positions, i would recommend doing a dltx file to avoid getting it overwritten by another DLTX file that may modify the hud position ( don't know if theres a DLTX file that touches that exact weapon in GAMMA, but just in case)
create a .ltx file named mod_system_zzzzzzzsaigarepo.ltx inside gamedata/configs/
and inside use the
![name of the section]

that is the bare minimum you need for a mod that changes weapon or outfit stats
change the folder structure according to needs; in case of changing trader stuff, you would have :

"items" folder (instead of "configs")
inside that, "trade"
inside that whatever the applicable file name would be

I'm trying to make a small mod to change gun and ammo damage, or rather I'm being lazy and adjusting the numbers in each mod that last touches a wpn def. I noticed that penetration of ammo seems to be set very very low, assuming I'm reading these files correctly. Seeing k_ap ammo stats that are like 0.003 and such and then a second stat that seems more reasonable like 0.4. Which of these numbers is the one that's actually used?

This was the last mod to touch these files, so I open them up and the hit_power is set to 1, so 100% of ammo damage. And the ammo should result in a damage of about 30-40. 20 gauge is defined in the same file and that has worked correctly, giving the TOZ about 155 damage, being something like 19-20 damage x 8.

you can change/add items(including guns), NPC (stats and some logic), what traders sell, parts of quests and many other things from just editing LTX files.

Some UI/hud changes can be made from XML edits but any new UI/hud requires scripting.

Simple dialogue and quests can be done in ltx and xml.

Responding to in game events (out side of some narrow NPC logic cases) requires scripting.

Responding to keyboard presses requires scripting.

dynamicly spawning, removing, moving (in world and between inventories) and many other manipulations of objects in the game world requires scripting.

complicated quests and dialogue require scripting.

icon editing can be done with paint.net and reqires more artistic skill than i have.

3dmodeling is done in blender and may as well be black magic to me.

Don't ask about adding new levels not even the anomaly devs can do that properly in the current anomaly version

In MO2 search for the file on the right side, Data tab and edit that. The same file can exist inside multiple different mods, but only 1 with the highest priority is in effect. And it's good practice to copy the file into an entirely new mod so you can always revert back to the default should something go wrong

Depending on your screen's aspect ratio you'll need to edit different files:
zone_map.xml for 4:3 screens
zone_map_16.xml for 16:9 (maybe 16:10 too) screens
zone_map_21.xml for 21:9 screens, if such a file even exists. If it doesn't, copy the _16 version and rename it if you have a 21:9 or wider monitor

Inside you need to edit the X and Y values for level_frame somewhere in the first few lines of the file. 0;0 values mean the map will be in the top left corner of the screen, and the coordinates control the very center of the map

Guys, noob question, do new weapon mods like Arisaka rifle and others work fine with gamma? I mean do gamma scripts work fine right away with new weapons and include them in the world item distribution? Thanks!

Are there any "Dynamic Relation" mods for Gamma/Anomaly? I.E the change in relation is thought out regarding the faction it relates to, like Duty and Freedom signing a ceasefire, Mercs will be generally friendly to most factions unless they have a contract with other factions to fight a faction. Feel like this kind of concept would add to the "living zone"
