Why do I have this strange effect in my game? etc.

It's the new DOF (Depth Of Field) effect.
You can turn it off:
1) Open the game.
2) Go in Mod Configuration Menu.
3) Search SSS Settings.
4) Disable whatever options you don't like and/or move sliders to the left.
Shaders Cumulative Pack for GAMMA has to be enabled in MO2, otherwise the SSS settings won't be visible.

If these steps don't work and DOF remains enabled, press ~, type r2_dof_enable off and hit Enter.

I’d been playing my current character fine and for some reason f5 now no longer saves, when I press f5, the game will freeze for a second as if it was saving but no text appears and no save is actually made, I’ve tried remapping my save input I’ve tried turning yacs off and I’ve tried making a new character which saving works fine on

While I’m actually at a campfire or sage zone, I can only go into esc and save game from there

Well, id like to mention that by default f5 isn't suppose to do anything unless you're near a campfire, or have waited 240 seconds since previous save

I have a question: If i start a new game with economic and progression on hard, the settings will be different as if i change the settings manually under options/gameplay on hard. Eg: Goodwill factor is on 1.0 but if i change it manually on hard under options/gameplay it will be 0.8

What are the standard/normal settings for these?

Hi, i had a problem.
The point is, i just re-downloaded this game in my crappy laptop and i don't think it can run smoothly above dx8, so i read the faq and it says that it's possible to play it (in dx8). I've done all that it asked, but it freezes in the screen (after the dx settings and such), so in the end i returned the mod settings to normal again and decided to run the game in dx11 and suprisingly, it worked. Any solution to this?

Well, the explanation is, whatever you did for dx8 caused it to not work, you went back on the changes - so now it works again

I guess go back to the instructions, and start disabling mods and immeditely checking if the game runs with that mod off

To clean your "Shader Cache", don't use the option in the Anomaly launcher.

How can you reduce the stutter in game? Game runs great, but some stutters are a little bit annoying, like 0,5 seconds freeze

Game has been running for hundreds of hours without crashing but I'm trying to complete the mortal sin questline and now game is crashing all the time.

No error message either, just completely stops with no explanation or crash log.

I have an issue with my sound. I know it's kinda my sound card's fault, but I get audio cutouts randomly, because of certain ambient sounds. I have disabled the Soundscape Overhaul and Horror Overhaul mods, but I still get those audio glitches. In some maps I get them frequently, and in other maps not at all.
I've already tried a different alsoft.ini and to check the Sound Problem Workaround and Prefetch sounds options in the launcher, but it didnt help.
If I disable Smart Volume Management from my sound card's control panel, then the audio issue immediately goes away. But without SVM on, the sound volume is all over the place, so it is not a viable option for me.
The thing is, I never had this issue with vanilla Anomaly, so I know its something that Gamma changed, but I dont know what that is.

Can someone pls help? Its been a long time I've had this issue now, and I dont know what else to try.

Small tidbit issues, pretty sure from the basic, default modlist, confirmation whether it happens to others would be good:

There's fancy new, very cheap artifacts. Dunno if intentional or they're unfinished, but they are visible without being "uncovered" by detectors, have no stats (only special ability) and thus do not need nor fit containers and have no PDA encyclopedia entry

Putting regular flashlight in the detector slot to use it and running around with it, turning it on and off either by pressing 6 or by switching it directly in inventory with another detector-slot items at times caused it to work but with battery warning (in inventory it still had full batteries) or made it completely drain (even freshly inserted, new) batteries.

Took the drug that gives you strong dizzyness. Dizzyness kept going for many hours, even thorough sleep. Weirdly enough, dunno if connected, disassembling found field-stripped weapons while under the effects after they were stripped gave no parts (not even damaged barrels)

those are the perk artifacts that are very cheap and weak. they decay over time if you equip them on the belt. that's a feature

and by pretty sure it's from default - are you running other mods? did you modify the modlist in any way

I did minor stuff like turn off some shader mod to improve framerate and added a bit that'd alter number of cooking uses of the better stove. Nothing that should in any way affect medicine, flashlight and disassembling which I am certain of because those things worked fine (minus haphazard, random flashlight) during the same gameplay and then just went weird. I underline, stuff didn't change how it worked after some mod managing - it started spazzing our during the same gameplay session, albeit a long-ish one (hey, it's weekend :P)

A possible fix for busyhands if you have the "Turn this on if you stutter" mod enabled: reduce the auto_switch_distance_start in small increments of a few hundred at a time in \GAMMA\mods\Turn this on if you stutter\gamedata\configs alife.ltx.
Start with like 300 or something, then every time you get busyhands randomly, reduce it by 200 more.
If the fix needs to be resistant to changes made by the installer make sure to also modify the alife.ltx file in \GAMMA\.Grok's Modpack Installer\G.A.M.M.A\modpack_addons\Turn this on if you stutter\gamedata\configs

If you get the bug on first load, try loading the same save again. It loads faster and is less likely to bug.

Reporting more as a bug than anything:

Was walking around as usual, till I decided to take a caffeine tablet. Animation didn't play, I still could run around, jump, but couldn't open PDA, pull up any weapon/device, interact with NPCs and I was apparently invulnerable (at least vs anomaly I've jumped into).

Decided to load previous save, GAMMA crashed with no error message and following log. I doubt it's really memory issue since I don't have many other programs using any and yesterday I've played about 7, 8 hours long sessions on the same computer with no issues.

The busyhands is the name of a bug that among other things prevents the player from interacting with objects or the weapons player holds.

If you can't:

• use your weapon or reload
• open your inventory
• drink/eat/sleep or otherwise interact with items you have
• correctly see your HUD in the bottom left corner, and it appears like everything is at 0 and it's all red
• transition between locations

Then it means your save file is affected by busyhands. The only known way to fix this is by loading an earlier save that was made before any of the things mentioned above started happening.
It is believed that the most common causes of this bug happening in the first place are:

• Enabling mod Turn this on if you stutter in Mod Organizer (or auto_switch_distance_start value being manually changed).

4. Run the installer as admin and make sure you have the latest version: 3.8 (If you don't have it, grab it here: <#📢announcements message>)
5. Click on Download GAMMA data and then click on Full GAMMA installation

3) Copy this file: modlist.txt
4) Paste it in here and replace the existing file: [YOUR GAMMA FOLDER]/profiles/G.A.M.M.A.. If you don't have a G.A.M.M.A. folder in profiles - create it.
5) Now launch MO2 again

Moving Anomaly:

1. Move your Anomaly folder to the new location

Moving G.A.M.M.A.:

1. Open your G.A.M.M.A. folder and ONLY delete the "mods" folder you'll find inside. Leave the rest untouched, you don't need to delete anything else
2. Move your G.A.M.M.A. folder to the new location

When you have finished moving everything to the new location:

1. Run the installer as admin
2. Click on 1. Allow Powershell scripts
3. Click on 2. Launch MO2
4. Select your Anomaly folder
5. Click on Download G.A.M.M.A. data and then click on Full G.A.M.M.A. installation

Is microstuttering unavoidable with GAMMA? I've done a fresh install and followed all optimization guides and there are stutters every few seconds that only last a few milliseconds, but are noticeable enough and very annoying.

it's really really common, yes - the engine is pretty old and can't make full use of modern hardware so it stutters

It was the first thing I tried. Shadow maps all low, grass lowered, graphics settings optimized... The only thing I haven't tried is disabling the shaders. But is that recommended?

Tbh you can just wait till new major update releases (which should be at the end of this month)

As it will most likely include grok's newly baked pre fetcher and new alife settings that should reduce stuttering even further

Best to follow #📢announcements on how to update (usually it will be full gamma installation path)

As for mods, if you added them yourself they won't disappear, but they will be disabled because during the update mo2 reverts back to the default gamma profile.

if that's the stage it froze on, not particularly, that's basically the last thing it does before the install finishes and you can make the shortcut yourself
