People usually set the maximum settings in the sss and hope for a good picture in the game, but unfortunately, all they usually get is low FPS with average graphics. However, it is possible to achieve high FPS with average graphics, as in my case. Many settings in the sss do not affect performance, but they significantly affect the visual appearance, and by knowing which settings are responsible for what and how to combine them correctly, you can achieve the desired result.

I manually adjusted the settings myself, comparing screenshots in Photoshop after each change to every slider, because I couldn't find any accurate information publicly available regarding each slider. All the videos I watched, unfortunately, either covered basic things that you could learn from playing other games, or contained nonsense that had nothing to do with reality. I spent about 8 hours on this and achieved the result I expected, compared to the default gamma, without mods and with default MCM settings.

Well, I changed almost all the default game and SSS settings, I modified flora variation, custom lumscale, hemi, amb and tonemapping, about 30 additional mods, some textures from Rotten Life 2.0, some from 3.0, the main ZTR pack, armor models from Stalker 2, and many other minor mods.
There's nothing I do that an ordinary person couldn't do. I don't have any super-duper, mega-special knowledge.

OBS is prob the most well known free recording software. If you want to avoid videos looking pixelated you have to adjust the bitrate in nvidia settings or obs

it wouldn't have been that because i wasn't using that specific mod. i tried it with that mod instead but it still had that issue.
i added it as a mod and loaded it after boreals.

If you look in the LOD file, it has the wrong file path.

You have to manually move the files from the LOD fix folder to Boreals in MO2.

Almost default SSS settings 60 FPS and my SSS settings 130 FPS, it's like ~116% perfomance boost with almost no loss in quality. It's shocking to me how important it is to tinker with the settings.

These are the default gamma sss settings in the game for 1 and 3 screenshot. For exampke if you launch the game without changing anything after u're download gamma first time, they will be practically the same.

Did you happen to install the latest, or a Beta version of Atmospherics? If so, you need to default every setting in SSS. (Except Weapon DOF, unless you like that.)

Also, go into your Anomaly/appdata folder and delete all the atmos files and clean shader cache. Load your game back up and type in cfg_load atmos_summer, or cfg_load atmos_neutral, depending on which one you like best.
