for example turbopumps in rocket engines are driven by turbines.

and the land-based world speed record car (actual car with motorized wheels, not a pair of jet engines strapped to wheeled base) used a power turbine, one which did not produce any worthwhile amount of thrust with jet exhaust and worked the drivetrain
