technicians seem to be hard-coded and can't be made to have new upgrades. All you can do is remove requirements

It works in some cases, doesn't work in others as it's dependant on location and which interior you're within the post process volume of. Glad it's some kind of progress. It'll do until GSC fix the post process volumes or we get the mod tools I guess... Play around with those values as you wish. @wraith saddle too.
You can also try messing around with bloom stuff... I am attempting to turn it off for now for exteriors, and limit the post process volume ones for interiors, but ehh... bout to stop messing around with Engine.ini altogether, got it to a point where I am happier with quality and that's it. p.s yes you might have to recompile shaders after making all of those changes.

Does anyone know if when an enemy is spawned do they have a range of HP that they spawn with?
I don't get why during my testing at the moment I spawn a dog, and sometimes it dies in one shot, sometimes it dies in 2-3 shots. 🤔

Looks like they were in the middle of making a Master difficulty, or maybe saved for the future when you complete the campaign or something. But they named SID Stalker, but this isn't the normal difficulty one.

when he was talking with you that day about backpack texture it was actually him helping me out

Depends on if the shader is alpha masked and looking to lets say the alpha channel to define what is opaque and what is cutout. If your channel encodes with a black alpha (0), the game would make your backpack invisible basically
Oh don't worry about it, I am trying to force it right now so that only Master difficulty is available in the menu. Trying it.
Which means only my modifications, no cheating around it. True difficulty. I don't even want to have the option to turn down the difficulty at any point.

You can try this, some report that it works for them. Other's don't. For me it works a bit.

does anyone know of a mod where when you fire your weapon it lights up dark areas aroudn you? i was having an intense fight in a cave and wanted to try fighting without the flashlight LOL to make it look more horror cinematic but it just lights up areas of the gun. If anyone watched the most recent Batman movie where he fights down the dark hall, that's kinda what i'm looking for.

think that'd be a fine idea which considers both low tier gun some love and progression

So the latest optimized tweaks s2 and the anti stutter mod don't conflict? I don't seem to notice the performance increase of anti stutter when using both.

Vortex puts them inside of folders inside the ~mods folder if you'd wish to organize them more.
Folders then need the order priority alphabate instead of the individual paks.

Without it, the .pakchunks will overwrite your mod. In theory.

Played with it plenty. It mostly works, 0.0.6 tried fixing one pda issue but that caused a whole can of different issues.
There is a vanilla bug where after a cutscene the game will force a higher viewmodel_fov but reloading a save fixes it

With how much the Devs have relied on existing UE5 systems to make the game, is that a concerning thing from dev a experience side or is it just as difficult as coming up with your own stuff?

For example just using meta humans and everything that kinda comes with the engine and apparently not caring much about its performance impact. To me it seems they just took the "easiest" route for most stuff. If all of those things really come with UE5 out of the box like that.

nahh just have to compare what your puting over and for config files put the changes from one to the other i use a plug in for note pad++ that automaticly tells me whats diffrent

How much can they realistically fix in terms of performance without majorly changing how the game looks at this point? Since Nanite and Lumen are mandatory as far as I've seen, which seems to be the biggest offender in that area
Most of the time it's more efficient to use things that others (well-versed in the topic) have made, when it comes to tools. Espescially engine-wide tools.
It's much harder to make it yourself, than it it to use something that's already made and documented for you- that way you and your team can focus on the actual design, rather than the long engineering process of making your tools from scratch. No point reinventing the wheel, unless you're 1000% sure you've got the innovative reason to do so, such as a custom engine feature that requires you to rewrite how fundementals work.
People nowadays really underestimate how hard it is imho.

They're under understandable amount of pressure, and it clearly shows some things are rushed. And I truly hope they don't just take the bank and run with it. However there is a lack of technical attention to detail from their side, that is more concerning than anything else.
To be fair, UE has a large learning curve, and is not well documented in many cases, so it's easy to get lost in there.
Huge respect to them for achieving the atmosphere of the game eitherway. They've built a good base imho.
What they in my opinion did wrong, is develop the game for upscaling graphics, rather than focus on the native picture.
If you upscale a shit native picture, it'll still look shit. Focus on the foundation and fundementals, don't skip straight to the polishing/refinement tech.

In my experience and working with some great heads in the industry too, nah. It's there, but it doesn't tell you what a thing does most of the time.
Majority of the documentation for the more custom things are a single line of code or method/function -> and you have to go and physically go to source build of the engine and check in the C++ to find out what it really does debugging it yourself etc. Does it have documentation? Yes. Is there much more to be desired, yes.
Unity has proven much better documentation than Unreal does for instance, there's less things to need to go and investigate yourself how it works.
However, it could also be that the documentation is sector dependant and in some cases UEs documentation is sufficient, while in others it simply isn't.
i agree fully, i just didnt want to write a big-ass text like you did but you are right.
i personally work with 3D so i'd say its pretty well documented. but if we head over to the other sections i do agree that UE could really use some better explanation.
all in all, i just hope gsc can fix the mess. its a cool game and im only mad because i see the beauty in the game

I am mainly in the industry on the Designer side of things too, but as a Technical Designer acting as a bridge between programmers and designers- I have an insight into both sides of the picture. You're 100% right, the 3D section is certainly a lot more documented than the other darker side of the engine. 😉

It's a weird thing I'm facing that has a mandatory background story behind. Yesterday everything was working tip-top, until I got a notification from Windows Update that I can hop on 24H2 finally. So I did. Then had a bunch of issues with the update, had to reinstall NVIDIA drivers clean, by nuking everything through DDU in safe mode. And I launch the game, and it's locked at 45 fps. I use no locks for Stalker 2 anywhere that I am aware of with that value. It also is Stalker 2 exclusive, other games work fine. The interesting tid bit is also that the limiter seems CPU-based, since it gives me near 100% CPU util in the main menu while sitting at 45 fps...in game it's the same story, very high CPU util, while GPU is power throttling HARD. I checked where I could, but now I'm just lost and have no idea wtf is going on. Sorry if it reads "ranty", I'm just kinda tired of this bs at this point XD

upper two set up audio environment, xaudio2 is the default windows enviro preferred for multimedia playback, then the lower two in Audio set up file format, not sure if it affects anything, really...try invoking these commands without "=" while in game using dev console, it should tell you what the values are for them currently set to

i installed LTSC 2021 on the PC of my buddy after building it
and he couldnt run anything with DX12 until i fixed it for him installed win 11 for him
im literally force running games into dx12
we've got a few already, but not the one the game uses

yeah don't install anything non-standard for normies, in fact I'd say don't build normie friends PCs and such. I built a 7950X and 3090 (both were bought at a heavy discount and X3D chips didn't exist for Zen 4 at the time, I envied this deal tbh, still envy it) desktop for a friend in '22, set it up for him, but mofo nagged me for help on specific settings with VRR, HDR, and game settings for months later. Felt terrible to turn into his personal tech support because I built him a PC once...now I only help people who are just as screwed in the head as I am 😄

i told the creator of s2 how to make his mod perform as well as mine, so there's really no difference anymore. same with the ultimate tweaks guy. all 3 mods should perform the same, but since mine barely changes anything, it should be the least likely to encounter crashes/bugs

It is true, but I like helping people with tech, genuinely enjoy it. I just want people to respect my boundaries and don't use me as their personal lackey. Unfortunately, telling them to do so and having them respect those is the most difficult part of it all.
