Hello, newbie here, someone knows how the .cfg files from paks work? like if u have 2 mods that edit the same cfg, it gonna load both? It gonna load the last one? It gonna read the text on both and try to run everything? what happens?
I can't even understand how to add custom icons to the game so I'd be able to add more lootables
actually you can change that in CustomizeControls.cfg
it will still show in the UI that both are for F1 for example, but if you put F2 there it works
every game comes out in unreal and this happens over again :p
anyway i messed around with engine.ini and i think i found what seems (at least for my system) a good balance of NO pop in and performance, its not perfect, for perection we have to wait for yerts guide, but i am more than happy if someone wants to try it and give feedback!
(it includes the skip of shader loading, 3D audio, reduced pop in, and mouse shmoothing)

ObjPrototypes has no Mention of duration at all, only the underlying cfgs for Mutants
Ammo likely wouldn't be too hard, models however.... and compatibility with Readable Ammo by @pearl lichen

compatibility with readable ammo is more like on the side of JCaleb tho, he can simply work on adding to his mod the icons 😄

compatibility is easy, all my icons are output by a script I wrote, so it takes less than a second to export a new batch
So I guess we now only need someone to actually do a new types of ammo for lower calibers 😄
Also like add those special types of ammo to stashes/traders since they're basically a legendary loot 😄
and that they have meaningful differences, IMO
otherwise they'll just pollute the loot tables and you'll have to spend more time finding the correct subtype you wanna run

Well the HP should work like in GAMMA, tho in stalker 2 You could check the stats on like 5,56x45 hp or 4,45x39 since they have their hollowpoint (aka anti-mutants) properties 😄

Ye I know, I guess it works more like a "mod" for a weapon where You get like +10% armor penetration but also 10% faster decay of a weapon (for AP type)
FYI I've had mods installed for like 5 hrs of my play through no mods I'm aware of turning achievements back on. But I'm still getting all achievements.

if you cancel the animation at all, it will not consume it or give you the buff
can be canceled by starting sprint or opening inventory in my experience

if my theory is correct then putting hunger at 0.25 would quarter the current hunger rate which is exactly what i want playing with 8 hour days
Anything they didn't enable I assume is cut content
I honestly may as well just make a thirst icon and add thirst into the game
100 hunger is probably full on starving
So food decreases it to zero, then it regens over time
so regen means the rate at wich your hunger builds
I assume the hunger/satiety option in Difficulty also affects hunger rate
so if you put it at 0.25 then it should in theory take you 4x the time to get hungry

yeah but read only from within an individual config doesn't guarantee a lock from general cvar editing, no? There can be a lock, there may not be one set up for that by devs. Hence me not being sure. Hi, none of the stamina modes work for me. Even though I only have the longer sprint mod. It still doesn't work. Can someone please advise me how to fix it? Even reinstalling Stalker doesn't help.

Sprinting stamina drain is in CoreVariables.cfg, while jumping/melee costs are in ObjPrototypes.cfg. If you have any other mods that alter those files, your Stamina mod might be losing the conflict
like I said, even though I only had one mod, it still didn't work
Is it placed in the ~mods folder? There's no reason why it wouldn't work if the mod was created correctly and it's installed in the correct folder
Do you have the Steam version or GamePass? They have different folder locations
yes it is, at first I had more mods. But I tried removing all of them except "longer sprinting" but it didn't work

so its either vortex for simplicity but no conflict resolution, or manual for merging

also no real reason to use vortex atm, and rage made a mo2 plugin if you realy want to use a manager
weird that we have the code to execute it, but it cant be ran on launch dynamically
you would think we just put all the mods in a mod manager folder, it runs the merge and puts the generated one in last on load order and we are good to go

another half day with chat gpt of testing, and it comes down to, UE5 is a broken engine, its only good for screenshots, nothing can be done as of now to fix reflections and popins (popins can be reduced but not fixed - testing on stronge pc) until they update ue5, and also devs work on the game engine as well and also tweak their commands, and hopefully make the engine give all the commands that they put in, we just have to think they are anomalies...sometimes it acutally works..

Immersive Physics + Longer Day 4h + Realistic Speed + No Dialogue Zoom + 90 FOV,
Do I need to delete my .pak files from Mods folder for Longer Days and Realistic Speed since they’re already included in this merge? Or is it just compatibility?
To be on safe side yes I would delete the single pak files if your going to use a merger
the ini thing is deff cool and worth fucking arround with but we are tuly bumping arround in the dark just stumbling across stuff. there is no guarantee of any line of code that will "fix" the game

You need to “update” your carry weight before it works, so equip an artifact that changes carryweight or armor that does so

the only time i got locked from the main quest was on the Wild island when the bunker door wouldnt open

Yep, the technician ranks/upgrades are hardcoded somewhere and they shouldn't be, so I assume its a bug/oversight on their end since they have a cfg for it. Yet changing, deleting, making new arrays/templates doesn't fix it.

Tabs and spaces are also extremely sensitive. Use spaces, convert your tabs to spaces. Also careful with it cause a few of the cfgs got accidently left in with a tab here and there, and if you delete/change that, then it won't compile and format error out. So cross compare with original and your modded changes, see compare plugins in your text editor of choice.
Really annoying actually, espescially when using regex and automating thousands of lines of changes just to find there was one tab somewhere in the original and it bricks your file.

Whomever heard my cry for faster reloads last night and decided to make a mod, I salute you.
The new UE versions both perform better and have less artifacting when it comes to Lumen, making it easier to setup. Unfortunately 5.1 has native issues to using Lumen, that only gets fixed in 5.3 I believe? Not sure of exact version. But had same Lumen issues on a clients project that Stalker has, and it was resolved later and made easier to configure on a UE5.3 build instead of UE5.1

Depends on the project and the scale of it.
If they use a lot of custom plugins, or outdated/legacy tech -> upgrading is a pain in the ass.
If they use all native UE5 things, and barely any plugins, and only in-house stuff that's easy for them to change. Then it should be easier, still a difficult task. I'd be surprised if they upgrade at all within the next year. It's both a risk and a time sink.
Most games, avoid engine upgrades like a plague because of so many things can go wrong with it, *and usually it does, experienced that already. *

They've already said they needed to make tons of changes so engine would handle Stalker 2 and called it UE 5.1 GSC edition
Unfortuantely 5.1 to 5.5 is quite a big upgrade, and 5.5 "fixes" the decade old problem of overlapping dynamic lights, with "megalights" although I've not tested peformance metrics on how good it is, eitherway, for them to upgrade- they'd need an extremely good and convincing reason to do so- because both the time sink and the risk of bricking the project version is so high.
The thing is, if they've already started work before hand on an SDK/Editor for editing Stalker 2 on UE5.1 then any upgrades, would also mean to update the SDK which sometimes is tougher to do than upgdating the game project itself.
In that case, they have a custom source-built engine UE version to work on Stalker 2, and that' complicates to how you upgrade from version to version already.

It's a potential fix for the Lumen GI that looks like you're underwater and sun/directional light is hitting the ground instead, making the GI move all over the place, rather than stay still. Hard to explain. Shimmering on grass is a different issue imho, this might be related to Anti Aliasing settings instead.

There’s a few out there, just don’t expect massive gains
Like 10 fps in some areas would already be huge
Mostly a CPU bound game, so any settings that offsets instructions from CPU to GPU, or reduced the CPU intensitivity of those functions, are usually huge wins on their own.
Usually around 5 fps, unless you’re okay with your game looking flat and bland
I'll take any haha. It's funny because in the wilderness outside of cities I get like 80 to 90 easily, as soon as I enter Rostok and some other safe zones it's over

Guess I should've mentioned I'm using a mod that makes NPCs visible for more distance and spawns them further away, it's not roadside panic tho

NPC Logic will be one of the most intensive things for the CPU in a game like this. I doubt they're using AI LODs as they're not native in UE. But who knows, maybe they have some awesome AI devs that do AI optimizations and that might be why they're using a custom version of the engine. 🤞

How does the repair system work again? is it like a percentage of the base weapon cost?
So if a 20,000 coupon weapon is at 90% condition, would it cost 2,000 coupons to repair?

It's possible they are plentiful as a means to balance the economy
nobody thinks to sell meds bc they always use them, but if you got a surplus, it's fair game

How cool would it be if the game had some kind of online feature like dark souls with bloodstains but instead you find a corpse with a bit of loot and a PDA describing how they died. Tune that to happen very rarely and all the sudden boom, immersion

I thought about this the other day, it would be such a cool feature that you could add too, say like a bunch of fellow stalkers die to the same thing, they just add a few more corpses to the pile. It would be a huge boost to the world building

I really feel like they missed out on a lot of "preparation" before going out. Like your light needing batteries and so on. Would make taking care of your gear so much more immersive. The repair system is fine but I feel like they could've gone more in depth with gear management

I feel like the visual quality, world building and engine/rt lighting is nice as a baseline and modding other systems later would be amazing since it’s things we can fix vs remaking the map like was needed in anomaly lol

Once UGCs are able to be done for Stalker 2, it'd be a completely whole different level of flexibility, I pray they use UGCs and SDKs for a inherited from engine source editor.

afaik it affects any impact, but still yet to test this shit. I.e any physical impact (including bullets).
oh it's just weapon damage
so its their natural protection against physical hits?
