Furthermore, the expansive difficulty options came as an update quite some time down the line.

I'm not saying we should never have more in Helldivers 2, but as it stands most difficulties are only played in order to unlock the higher difficulties.

That was not my point, the point was that sinve there is little difference between some of the lower difficulties they could be merged to allow for higher difficulties at the top.
And the way to do that is compressing the least popular difficulties.
Making too many different difficulties dilutes the playerbase which is harmfull on the less populated planets/front.
As it stands, most of the game is now significantly easier than it ever was.

From personal Experience, in Helldivers 1 all difficulties were used, you could find tons of lobbies in 1-10 and you could find tons of Veterans going for 10-15

Alright, and you get enough for 1 premium when you clear the free one, so that is 6 remaining warbonds.
You get 1k SC in 50-100 hours, so that is one more down, 5 remain.
So then, the full price of the game, including 'DLC', is 90 EUR

The OG Helldivers 1 had the extra equipment as DLC in the Steam page, this meant that you sometimes could get them on sale, I wonder if we will ever see a warbond sale in HD2, or if new players are simply cursed to drop ever increasing amounts of money to access the full game and content.
