I wonder if ArrowHead decided to overhype a rushed and moderately sized update because they were under pressure (Internal/external) to re-ignite player numbers.
Like, nothing else makes sense right? This update is a massive disappointment and could have simply been labelled as another regular update.... They did not even tie the emergence of new enemies into the narrative structure of the galactic war.
They DEFFINATELY overhyped the update. It's nowhere near as good and filled with content as they said it is in their trailers

New Balance Changes in the Escalation of Smegma Slugger This weapon was pretty ass in the last round of nerfing, and after running it into the ground we decided that it wasn't dog ass enough. So to get better and more closer to the true vision of our studio's own Serbian ape, we have decided to run it even further into the ground.
At this point the copium/hopium mix I am injecting into my asscheeks is that they stupidly decided to split the update in 2, one half today and the other half with the warbond
we already know the content of the warbond
my hope was that the warbond was so lacking is because they gonna bring more shit with the "big" update
No shit, but there is also the napalm orbital that is not in this update
So that suggests more to come alongside the warbond
so that means that their "awesome" and "amazing" massive update full of content is paywalled

You’re entitled to your opinion but, they still made an incredible and very fun game. There are several other difficulties to play if the hardest isn’t fun. Hard should require teamwork. It seems like thats how they’re trying to build their game from the start.
I'm also sure the scout striders have infinite ammo on their missles too

they realeased content TOO fast and TOO good at the very beginning, so now the pace is all weird and fucked up,and in comparison, the current warbonds we are getting dont feal nearly as good
they focus too much on warbonds, and not just additional strats and whatnot
I like the formula of light weapons for chaff, strats for heavies. Also like the idea of bringing up lesser used strats to encourage use like they did with gatling barrage and eagle strafing run
no mech/vehicle upgrades, the emancipator mech is pretty disappointing because of its damage difference with the autocannon turret, only a few new stratagems, but all of the good, useable shit was out when the game went out, so all the follow up hasn't been as good
I think they’ll keep messing with weapons and strats that don’t get used. As for your last point, i think the stuff that hasnt been “as good” is now just utility, like plugging holes or messing with sight lines or staggering

Im enjoying the new enemies they add, the explosive resist armor and shield pack are probably a bit of a necessity against more missiles now?
The ballistic shield had physics updates, not sure what that means. I know they expanded its protection border, and it used to take 1 cannon strike before breaking clean, so I wonder how it is for missile defense now?

Orbital rail to me is something to pair with another more available explosive like precision or airstrike
they released all the good exciting shit first, and too quickly, so now everything afterwards feels like shit in comparison, and isn't coming fast enough to quench the content hogs

Well, used the flamethrower for quite a bit, still works real well against small bugs
even brood/alpha commanders, idk what people are saying that it doesn't work against them
just doesn't work against chargers
The rocket turret is goated as well
You throw it far away and then watch it rack up 40+ kills
And it can snipe gunships
Only thing annoying is enemies will focus on your turret so it might not even get half its ammo off before being destroyed
That's why If I'mma start fighting, I throw it behind me to the right or left (depending on my position and what's give the turret more of a firing range)
Draw the agro, and just let the rocket turret rain hell

and they've also stated that they want primaries to counter chaff, support for mediums, and strats for heavies
strats would be good for heavies if they didn't send like 5 at you at a time
They reduced the number of heavies. It's also why 4 teammates have strategems, we vastly outpower anything bots or bugs send us but they designed the game for people to stick together and communicate

I love the game and I liked how this thread started out with the fun stalker peeps, I'd like to fix it but that's not up to me

balancing the game around every squad being a 4 man in a discord communicating perfectly is stupid, because that's not possible for more then 80% of the playerbase
i could not give less of a shit about the incen breaker, slugger, or GL pistol nerf, because they basically did nothing, they were barely nerfs
fucking the flamethrower SO BAD to where it can't perform the one job it was SUPPOSED to perform well (dealing with swarms) is another thing entirely, the whole POINT of the flamethrower was that an enemies corpse wouldn't block the damage to the alive enemies behind it
and this is after they had a good ass, mostly (if not all) buffs update, and went on about having new balancing strategies, and not nerfing things anymore
which is looking like a complete lie, because they are using the same balancing strats as before (balancing based off of spreadsheets of what weapons is used the most) and yet again just randomly nerf shit

i tried using the normal liberator a little while ago again where i would usually use the incen breaker
it felt better, because that's the type of weapon i would normally enjoy and have fun using, but any difficulty higher then 6, or sometimes 5, i just could not keep up with the amount of hunters and shit, so it took the fun out of it
im gonna stop yapping my ass off now, last thing im saying is that i hope to GOD the actual warbond shit is awesome and worth all this, and that they maybe roll the flamethrower thing back

I've said the flamethrower is great for setting the ground on fire, could try that then direct hits. In the trailer the weapons look like they work fine, if there's changes to be made they'll do it post release fairly soon. They're capable of hotfixes
CMs (i assume you mean community managers here) don't have a real say in the balancing, they are usually told by someone who does have a say or hand in it what to say about balancing or future stuff
and most of the quotes that feel like lying are from pilestadt and the new ceo themselves, talking about how they weren't gonna nerf anymore, and that they planned to have mostly buffs now
also, the flamethrower doesn't really set the ground on fire nearly as well or the same way, it still just, BOUNCES off
because fire (and also assumably napalm) not sticking to something is "realistic"

i used the flamethrower on bugs because it was fun, and because non of the other support weapons were really capable of doing what it did, which was really. really good swarm control
but now it cant go through bugs or bug bodies, and cant do shit to chargers, and it also feels like ass now
i would rather not use the incen breaker, because i never liked using it in the first places, i would rather use the stock liberator, or something similar, but nothing else has the swarm control the breaker has
and then you have the "secondary missions" where even on diff 10 , after you extract with the bug larva or whatever , you get a generous amount of 2 rare sampels and 4 commons

this will make a difference in my 250 rare sample grind to unlock a useless upgrade
they tell us "primaries for fodder, support weapons for mediums, and orbitals/eagles for heavies"
fucking cool and all, and i would agree, if it weren't for the fact that
1.barely any primaries are good against large amounts of fodder
2. support weapons are pretty wasted on just mediums, which would be shit like the brood commander
3. support weapons are also not even good at getting rid of mediums, because at higher diffs, mediums spawn by the dozen
4. the orbitals and eagles either have such long cooldowns (which are massively exacerbated by mission effects), or you need to be pin-point fucking accurate with them (which is also made much more difficult via the planet environment, and, get this, more fucking mission effects)
just give us extra charges of railcannon before it goes on cooldown, or reduce its cooldown by a bunch, so we have a viable anti-heavy orbital, then while we use that, buff everything else, so the 500kg has some kind of fucking explosive range on it
they also put too much faith in random teams
they expect a team of 4 to coordonate their strategems and preserve them
use them when it must
in reality everyone just throws their shit , so when you get 4 bile titans, nobody has their railcanon or shit to deal with it
which ends up in 20 minutes running around circles reinforcing

flamethrower was good against bugs, but it wasn't the outright best support weapon to use for any mode

Primary flamethrower is pretty good and has about 10 seconds of continous flame in each canister, 6 spares
Sidearm flamethrower is ass with 4 seconds of flame time
do they shoot any farther than the support
or are they still stuck being melee range
just about the same, decent range on it
but sidearm is smaller
SG Cookout is pretty good too
Hellpod booster not that great tbh
basically the equivalent of an incendiary grenade exploding at point of impact, got more chances of FF lol

the most stressful fucking thing in this game is to gather 10+ rare samples AND the super samples while playing with randoms
and drop them off at extract early in the game
only for the container to suddenly dissapear in the tail end of the match, only to reappear a mile away from extract 20 seconds til pelican arrives
so you gotta trust these random guys who may or may not listen to you saying "the samples are there, dont get in pelican yet" while you make a mad, amphetimine infused dash for the samples and back to extract while the poor guys waiting are getting annihilated
i had 4 impalers on the extract earlier (it was bad) but we still managed to extract with all samples and even the egg from the mega base but god i could barely even get my orbital precision strike to get the cluster of them without flying around in ragdoll mode.

first it was WW1/WW2 for entrenched enemies in, well trenches, but also in bunkers, to either get some flame into the front bunker opening where the enemy would be shooting a machine gun
or to cover the concrete outside part of the bunker in napalm, getting it so fucking hot on the inside, they would stop shooting and either cook, get fragged, or shot by friendlies pushing into the bunker
also works on tanks
because back then, they were not at all air tight or sealed, so liquid flame or napalm could get in pretty much anywhere
and even if it didn't get in, as it turns out, being covered in flame while inside of a stuffy, metal box both limits your vision, and cooks you alive

Because it is not really a bug, it is a feature of their much too advanced ballistics system, you basically lose 1 damage when walking backwards and gain 1 damage when walking forwards, because the game calculates shit based on momentum, and then they round the number.
Helldivers 2 really is quite fascinating when looking closely at a lot of things, so many extremely intricate systems/details/features that add very little perceived value to the majority of the playerbase, but no doubt adds complexity to the code.
It really feels like the devs created a work of genuine passion, only to fumble on launch and continue to trip over every single pebble along a very long road.
That sounds well put tbf, they actually have a lot of small details, like the hand off the trigger unless they aim in , the revolver / shotguns reloading the exact bullets
even the bullets themselves are modeled depending on the gun , and for the brearker when they lowered the mag size they changed the mag model entirely to look shorter lol

Yeah, or simply balance the enemies' hit points to the damage of weapons at range, instead of balancing them to match the damage of a projectile immediately after exiting the barrel.
I think the behemoth charger has the same hp on the leg as most AT launcher deal damage, which means once the velocity based damage drop off happens, you can no longer strip the leg in one shot.
They also need to model shaped carges correctly, one of the details in this game that are actually wrong, an AT launcher should not lose damage at range since it is not a WW2 tank shell, but a modern shaped charge..... Or then again, maybe Super Earth uses shells instead of charges like they did muzzle loaded cannons.
