The main reason why I use shield on bugs (and not bots, unless we also count the ballistic shield which is just cool imo) is because of it's ability to protect the user from melee attacks. The ability to not die from a single pixel of acid spew touching me is just a bonus to be honest. Seeing as a lot of bugs are melee units, the ability to not die instantly when I'm getting swarmed (which bugs tend to do a lot) is very nice to have

My personal observation has always been the opposite, since I tend to be pretty spatial aware the hunters are sort of the least of my problem, unless the booty patrol comes in, fuckin hate those lol

On the other hand, spewers can still fucking slow you down even if they miss their attacks which is asinine as hell, especially if approached from a blind spot and then you're just dead. Always damn frustrate me when it's tacked on top of whatever else bullshit I'm facing

The primary problem I tend to have with stalkers are them creeping up from the flank if I'm not aware of them existing and their nest being nearby

Since when they are within melee range, well enjoy being ragdolled and thrust into whatever swarm of shit you were doing your best to avoid

Though seldom stalkers become the primary cause of death, even indirectly as majority of the time they just ragdoll me away instead of opting to one two punch my ass into grave
