I gotta rant cause I just don’t understand.

Maybe I’m tweaking, but I feel like shooting shouldn’t be nearly this hard. Everything about shooting this year feels like it even defies real logic in how a person plays in real life let alone the game. From Anti-cheat methods or not, I truly feel like if the game were easier to shoot in, things like Zens wouldn’t even exist. Like why is it that I feel like I’m going insane every game after spending 30 mins to an hour in the Gatorade gym perfecting my shot. Just to go into ANY other game mode and the queue point changes.

Idk what the shooting system is, but the way that I’ve seen it week 1 to now has changed so much I feel like I’m still playing 2k23. How do we have all these pass accuracy badges and things to boost a player’s shot but they don’t seem to be helping? How did we “buff” the wide open shot boost but yet people are still missing? Like what kind of game are you trying to make here? One that promotes smart passes to get to the open man for an easy shot? Or a game that completely makes Pass first guards and Diming bigs obsolete from the sheer fact that badges or not, teammates can’t hit their shots regardless of the help.

Like it’s frustrating. Whatever this patch was, is eliminating the player base from sheer frustration alone, cause I know I don’t even enjoy playing online with my friends anymore from the horrible quality of life issues ( bans if you quit OR disconnect, not vote to kick option in solo rec, the enabling of bad sportsmanship ) to the fact that no matter how well you play in MyCareer it will never translate to multiplayer modes.

I’m over it, I really enjoyed this year’s game the most too because of it’s gameplay potential, but enough is enough. Expensive or not, it’s just not worth the headache and I’m just not addicted enough to still invest real money in this game.

I thought so too, but it's not nearly as straightforward. Even with good ratings down in the post and the appropriate badges, you often get hit with the stupid ahh animations and miss easy shots. You can sorta try to get away with it by pump faking etc. but a 7 footer shouldn't have an issue dunking on a 6-2 guard like that

Idk if anybody from the 2k devs is going to read this but I’ll write it anyways idc. I’ve been playing nba2k since 2k11 and have bought the game every year since. I used to have a friend group of 10 people and we used to play 2k every year. Now we’re in 2k24 and my last friend of that friend group that was still playing with me even this year, just told me that he’s done with 2k, now it’s just me. 2k devs stop making the game so damn realistic, hard and so expensive, it’s a video game, and videos games are meant for having fun, to have fun in this game you need to play everyday so you can hit your shot consistently and maybe you’ll have fun.

Also, I used to remember when I could have as many builds as I wanted and not having to pay so much money to get them on a high overall, you guys are killing the game and the game has gone from us having fun to just a daily chore. i mean, for me, the patch has fixed the issues I've had with shooting. not as choppy anymore in rec etc. and I can notice my cue better now. also, you don't know what an angry community looks like until you hear about the OOTP 23 debacle since they not only decided to enforce the judgment of a japanese court (which isn't even enforceable in america where most players are) but broke everyone's saves and hardcoded a whole country out of the game

basically, they put japan in south africa, except south africa produces baseball players, and if you play it long enough, they produce quite a few, and some people are playing saves that are like 6-7 generations old and ported

all this happened without warning

and not allowd to talk about it on the official chat

or forums for that matter

compared to that, 2k haven't even broken anything or changed too much, they just took ideas that already existed and adapted it in a way that didn't affect the series as whole

and compared to EA, 2k doesn't get it right all the time but at least responds. 2k releases poorly planned and poorly balanced products but not really true fiascos

ea deleted everyone's online franchise in madden if you logged in on christmas last year and what did they do to fix the issue? offer up beta access for the next version, which was free to begin with and offered to you if you play enough.

that's the sort of fiasco that 2k has managed to avoid. and i hope they never accidentally delete everyone's saves in the fist place, never mind offering up what is basically nothing as an apology

I think we need more info on shooting slump, and nuff the effects a bit. Once you are in it, that is it for the whole game. Or reset it after a quarter. I am not sure, but if only way to get out of the slump is to make layup or dunk, if you play non scoring focused position such as power forward, sometimes you dont get a chance.

What is so hard to understand about this. Shooting is touched every other week and it doesnt feel any better than before. I literally just went half a game ( cause I’ll be damned if I sit in a lobby where NO ONE can hit their shot ) where no one on my team or the other team could hit their WIDE OPEN SHOTS.

Like what was the point? Bro. I don’t care if you increase the defensive impact on contested shots, make difficult shots “harder” but all of this should be incentivized by making the Wide open shot boost so significant THE BALL GOES IN.

Cause you know what happens when you miss too many wide open shots? Besides skating on ice, the defense stops guarding you. The prime opportunity to get more buckets.

I don’t know what yall gotta do to fix it at this point, cause now the fundamentals of the game are getting screwed from this “hot fix”. But I’ll be the guy to say it.

The more you incentivize wide open shots the more people will be willing to make smarter plays hitting the open man, and creating the open shot for themselves.

don’t let people bully you into a certain build. at the same time, take people’s advice somewhat. i basically mean figure out what you’re looking for in a player and search up a build online that mimics that

then add your own tweaks to it

eh it's not technically a hack or even an exploit, it's a controller splitter with a macro function, just that people have a habit of setting that macro as moving the stick to the narrow but present green or whatever may give them an advantage in the game they're playing. they're not actually hacking the game in any way except as a metaphor

not condoning the practice (it is cheating, ultimately), but people throw terms like hacking around way too much and with cybersecurity a legit problem and legal implications it's better to be accurate than to give off the wrong impression. everything a zen does is on the client side, the server just thinks you're actually hitting the shots

I shoot 59% from everywhere on the floor. The game is broken jump shots feel off sometimes its not a timing thing. It’s 100% mike wang/ dev team deciding to alter your green window. It constantly changes you can see it. My shot selection is great open to wide open 90% of my attempts i dont take bad shots play on a 144hz monitor even though 2k maxes out at 120 and i have 1gb up and down on ethernet connection 100% its the development of this game. I can go shooting 91/92% one game the very next game not even 5 minutes later I’m 0/5 with the exact same release timing i been using it makes no sense.

i have to add that sometimes its in your catch animations

like for example

when receiving a pass which you dont expect to be that fast/slow

i had a scenario where i was expecting a normal pass and it was a fast, so i timed it normal

i bricked, telling me it was slightly late

yeah, sometimes what i would do is when i get a pass, i wait for a few seconds to shoot

so that my timing would be as fast as receiving a catch and shoot

but that invites contest

which my jumper is not really good at

so im practicing escape jumpers

but really hard to think of in game

Big facts catch animations from a 70 pass acc and lower are complete trash. I don’t memorize my timing i watch the animation i know when to release my shot like the exact point of a green and it’ll still say slight early/late its wild. Honestly, agree with the server delay. I feel if they make the servers consistent i would be shooting mid 60%.

start of playing 2k24 i already used pure carmelo

and just sticked with it

i just changed my base

i tried the troy brown releases bro

its just fast i cant time it

and the carmelo release is a good cue for me

he sets the ball near the head/forehead

mine is setpoint

the carmelo anthony base and release really did well for me when i was starting. especially on open shots

but when i played with good defenses, that contests really good

the carmelo base is really bad for me

so i changed my base to tmac since its stable and just jumps upward

just retained the carmelo releases since im accustomed to it and has a really good cue for setpoint

i did try one with with a troy brown release

it was a T-mac base

at first it was good

but was just really fast im getting lates

Potential idea to better scale fatigue, especially for full team control modes:

Certain fatigue thresholds reduce or entirely negate hustle/energy related badges (i.e. glove, chase down artist, off ball pest, slippery off ball, 94 feet, Work Horse, etc.)

Essentially the ethos of this idea is that something that should likely be attached to fatigue would be fewer 50-50 balls won/fewer energy plays being made. As it stands, fatigue seems to have little to no downside in this regard in my observation.

The game right now is the easiest game ever. The shooting is so easy you practically have to try really hard to lose a shoot even with high contest over 40%. Everybody now shooting with 75% easy and the games on Rec finishing with more than 70+ points each team. Skill issue steals are easy to get around… they’re definitely broken in the sense of getting plucked the second u grab a rebound or if your l2d but if a pg is spamming crossovers in my face that’s how u get steals if u behind the back instead of crossing it’s near impossible
