Gravity Ball being a DLC as opposed to it's own game mode is an incredibly poor look for 2K, but I think that this year, 2K has listened to the community more than any other year prior. That said, part of the problem has been that the community has loudly complained about things that weren't issues just as much as things that were issues, which caused some things to get "fixed" that didn't need to be. Shooting changes between Season 1-->2 is the major notable example, but there are certainly other examples of things that people complained about because they weren't willing to change to suit the new game

The game is far from perfect, but I think they did a great job with a lot of the changes this year, such as player/court ratio, REP rewards, smaller city, etc

I'm 26 so I must be getting there. But I think there's a lot of interesting ways to be a shot creator, and a lot of positives to the game outside of the gameplay as well (such as the REP system, Cap breakers, Max+1, smaller city, etc). I know a lot of the "top players" in this game just shoot middy fades left and right off screens, and play in such a boring way, but I think this game can be fun if you try to have fun on it. Recently, I created a replica build for a player, and found it a ton of fun personally getting the player as close as I could to looking like them irl, getting the build as close as I could get it with future cap breakers and Max+1s, and using their animations to play like them as much as possible in game.

The REP system is good, the builder is one of the best in a minute, cap breakers and Max+1s change how you make builds, the city is smaller which is a huge plus, Workout Warrior is well worth the time and a massive buff over having to put 99 stam on a build in the builder, the devs are actually caring about the opinions of players, the court/player ratio changes was massive in not making everything feel clasutrophobic and cluttered, the new takeover system is interesting (having to unlock each one individually sucks though), etc. A ton of good things about the game

Personally, I prefer being able to min-max my builds myself. The problem with Pie Charts is I feel like there's not enough build diversity. With the game how it is right now, I could play 5 different games and see 5 locks, one in each game, all built differently. Some prioritizing rebounding, others going for higher physicals, others going for more finishing, etc. There's so many different ways people make builds in this game because of how the builder is, and Pie Charts kinda minimize that
