I think that's been in the game for a while, my guess is somebody in the coding didn't put an if loop conditional in for if an input is put in at a certain frame. (I can't imagine it being a hard fix)
The same goes for most if not all gameplay modes with a replay function, maybe it's cause the length of the sponsorship in a 60$ game changes in length every year?!?
