Not neccessarily playing more, but more consistently seemed to help me, but the biggest help (besides the occassional run in with useful Reddit threads and YT videos) was having someone patient enough to give me feedback and suggest adjustments. For example, I was running alongside people to the basket, but now I try to read them better and contest without chasing them.
