After playing a good bit of 2s, i definitely think BG is a lot stronger in 2s because the chaos helps with his weaknesses.

I will say though the one downside of 2s is not having anyway to communicate with your teammate. Cause some of these players need to be guided.

banana guard is so crazy strong in 2v2 and i love it, especially when you can get a good consistent partner to 2v2 with

especially if they enjoy playing support characters. banana guard + steven almost feels cruel to play lol, he can stand behind you and shield you and there's basically nothing the opponents can do

it almost feels like s1 with how just how good side special spamming is when you're shielded

BG as a support I find is better than being the primary. Since it is easy to read and dodge many of his moves but with proper set ups from a good partner then it is easier to succeed. I still climb with Randoms in 2s. Definitely easier if I can make plays off my teammate setting things up

i'm beginning to think this is the only chill thread out of all the character threads in the server

when i learn a new character i always like to check out their thread and see if anyone's discussing anything interesting about them, but it's pretty much always people complaining about how their character is the worst in the whole game and has nothing good in their kit (regardless of if the character is actually good or not) and usually something about the devs hating them in particular

it's nice that in comparison, this place has been relatively chill. everyone here just seems generally satisfied playing banana guard

To be a Banana Guard main you must strengthen one’s mental daily and constantly evolve.

Unlike majority of the other characters, Banana Guard doesn’t have cheese combos so to be a good Banana Guard one must be mechanically insane

A lot of the complaining/crying we see in the other channels is a result of bad players who think they are good because they play like a rat or abuse OP abilities

btw have you tryed matching opponents dodges to punish them, like after taking them high with the jab up attack combo jumping to them but reading the dodge time and direction to copy them and hit them with a spicy sside air after dodge chase, i love doing that

I love banana guard I really do I just can’t win against a Raven or an Arya who just spam the same combo over and over again, idrc about combos

hard to give advice against arya cause i dont know a sinlge thing bg can really punish arya for, its mostly reads and spacing, id say get practice with her up special, getting a good sense of its space and timing can allow you punish it properly, on ledge i like stepping a bit back and punishing with neutral attack, sometimes when they pace back and forth they tend to fall on a mental cycle so if you let them do it enough times you can punish them while catching them on the part of the cycle were thay walk towards you, when we are on the air, they get a bit jittery about catching you and often down air special will allow us to avoid their attack or catch them after the dodge and punish them, doing small hops puts some type of mental pressure over them, and always when you go for a side air, dont do it, dodge the direction they are going that very often is behind you then hit the side air, we miss more side airs than we hit when doing it normally, also up attack is just a good cover all tool, kind hard to explain

also watch this video, bg hitboxes are a bit larger than we think and understanding them will help us hit further than we tought possible

i go for neutrals more often to cover above me due to understanding better its vertical coverage, helps me catch a lot of feet in the air :y

prob WW, i think the biggest problem with ww players is that they have such good tools that they tend to fall into their own patterns of play wich makes them easy to predict but she has so much good stuf that is hard to not think she is better than bg, some of her combo strats and simply perk variety makes her a wild threat with more option than us

their biggest flaw is that they fall on the neutral air obsession

hell just the recently discovered tech\ of half air lasson in the corner of the map into down air is makes her such a threat offstage due to being able to choose between that or a multi hit air atack to recover

and barrier is even more op than people realize cause hitting it does not only blocks any attakc but briefly freezes you when landing the hit

in short multi hit nair, nothing is stronger than a multi hit nair

WW is waayyy stronger. As a banana main who recently started using WW because of the vista event.

WW has more tools for more situations .
In 1’s WW has an easier time winning.

I think in 2’s banana shines more because of his sheer kill power, and he’s got a partner who can cover him when he’s whiffing.

And yes as Conehead explains. Her Nair is INCREDIBlE!

But for me the even more busted move is her grounded side special. That thing eliminates every single projectile, it can out armor other armor attacks incoming, and just the slower timing of it really throws ppl off compared to all her other attacks coming out faster

Might be a timing thing. I find myself nair way too early. With the changes you will fall slower after casting the ability so holding off using the ability till you are closer to enemy/floor may be better. Idk tho that could just be a me thing

dodging into neutral air is one of the only relatively consistent options i can find for approaching a lot of powerful characters

this game moves just werent meant to have shield and you just feel it, it feels like standing in one place playing passive is even stronger than before

just played against a decent ig and the more we tryed shields the more we realized the best move was standing still trying to bait the others move to shield and punish them

a complete cycle of igs nair is easily tanked by shield no reason to try and space it to punish him is just more effective to sit there and tank it

and when the opponent is just sitting there shielding we can do nothing but respect it cause we have terrible shield breakers that dont fully break the shield and are super easy to punish

yeah i've been really enjoying the "making a friend on the mcdonalds playground" sort of gameplay when queuing with randoms, but it's pretty clear everyone i'm facing off against this high up is a coordinated team

quick question i casually discovered this while playing raven, but does gizmo has 0% chance of getting back on stage wihtout getting hit? i havent played against many gizmos but it looks like shielding in the corner of the map when hes offstage and waiting for him to come back to stage you can punish with up attack bg, completely covers all of gizmo options and he cant recover without getting hit

like i dont even need to hold shield all the time just when he jumps to gain a bit more vertical distance on ledge

am i wrong and gizmo has a way to recover or is he totally screwed?

maybe keep it on the down low a bit, but i found out BG has a consistent cheese for every single node in the rogue rift

just equip the gem that gives you low gravity, hit the opponent(s) into the air, then just spam up air while jumping and dodging to stay below them constantly

the low gravity makes it where you can just glide all the way up to the blast zone with them

they only try to fight back very rarely (i've only seen marceline and agent smith attack down at me in my 5 attempts), but if you just grab the upgrades that give your attacks ice/tasty it pretty much stops them from doing anything lol

i've been an icy tears defender for a couple seasons now but i think these buffs made it a lot more accessible for general use

it might change once people get used to it, but so far nobody seems to perceive the active threat of the puddle on the ground

they just walk all over it and end up getting 6-10 stacks of ice for no reason

this move already had insane knockback and now is even stronger

i wished for the hitbox while falling since season 2

thats why it isnt uncommon to see opponents just on top of our neutral attacck without being hit

landing nair -> jump forwards -> dair -> autotech -> jump and landing nair again

sometimes you don't loop it and do landing nair -> jump forwards -> dair -> autotech -> side attack -> up attack etc

or for killing - landing nair -> jump forwards -> dair -> autotech -> neutral attack

He doesnt have the most varied combos after this patch, a lot of it stems from jab and nair more than anything. Like you can nair into sair plain and simple or you can nair into down special but if you arent timed correctly it will hit them with the new hitbox as it goes down and auto tech when you want to hit them with the ground slam portion of it,

Other than that jab into up attack into up air is basically the go to at lower %s until you can end it with sair. Maybe one of the more fancy ones you can get are nair into standing down special into sair. Unfortunately banana can't really combo his dtilt.

Sometimes you can follow your up attack with an upspecial but I am uncertain if its true or if the players I verse are really bad at dodging it

The tear down special is kinda good now from my experience

I was kind of rusty last night but I quickly resharpened by skills and I went the whole night win after win as Banana Guard. Not a single loss

Probably in part due to my overall increased skill in platform fighters having played/practiced a ton of Smash

But yeah I fought a player with more wins as Harley Quinn than I had ringouts in total and I didn’t lose a single set to them. I won five times in a row.

His side special is really really good at edgeguarding

With an extensive window to essentially kill confirm your enemy if they’re off the edge thanks to the lingering hitbox

Yeah it works great on iron giant haha. But our biggest struggle was when you played behind IG and would shoot us. Which then allowed IG to be more aggressive. I think that’s what I remember.

Yeah I noticed if I camped harder it works but it's not really my play style to camp hard this patch made it harder for me to rack up damage jab jab iad dair is not true on most just about everyone as long as they di up or out so finding dmg on Joey can be hard since he sends volleys of projectiles and it's hard to get good damage on him

Interesting, if you have Iron Temple equipped you don’t slowly fall so it’s like the old neutral special. You can still hit down key and and fall.

Late to the party but sair typically works. Depending on what your opponent likes to do after you can bait them into another tears if they immediately try to counterattack from above.

i've never gelled so well with a platform fighter character before, something about his simplicity but the amount of depth that arises when fighting against real people and having to learn what moves they're the least equipped to handle

i understand what that would make people call him spammy, but wow it's so fun to figure out which move your opponent is weakest to and then use it against them over and over while they usually fail to adapt

i'm gonna miss it
