Any advice for landing sniper punch? I find the armor on it is useless because of its delayed activation. It’s mostly useful in ground bounce combos, edge guarding, and punishing whiffed attacks in my experience.

Practice first and foremost. But general tips are to try and learn how to read people’s dodge habits and try to be aware of your own habits. If you’re defaulting to a select few specific options, those will eventually become predictable to your opponent and you’ll get punished. Learn some of the better combos like jab dair loops (at least until they likely get removed when they add 15 frames of delay to jump out of jab). Ice breath is really good against projectile characters. And be wary whenever you’re in burnout because none of your moves will have armor and you’ll eat a lot of extended combos

If you’re only spamming jab and laser, you’re gonna have a rough time

It’s ok to play slower while you’re learning, but once you get more comfortable with reading habits and reacting on the fly, you’ll start to play faster

I would say the best advice for superman is to get off the character to be funny but like, genuinely patience is the biggest part of supermans gameplan

Youve gotta learn to be happy to wait for a lifetime for someone to do something stupid, and after that you have to really get in their head in advantage to make them really scared to do any emergent options

Dont be afraid to go out for an edgeguard since he still can actually edgeguard. Up b at ledge is disgusting since you can either send yourself forward to catch your opponent on the wall or stay in place and possibly clip them under the stage with the blast

Wall is defo your best friend now, if you can do something like deep nair and they hit the wall you get to batter them for silly damage. Another thing you can and should use is laser on wall, it forces people on wall to do something lest they get caught by the last remnants of supermans strength

To add onto hoagieland's and KillinJudgeAtlas' points. Ice breath is good at denying certain characters slow, set play like projectiles, so add Morty to the list as well (he's still a menace though). You can also use ice breath as a little 'quit stalling' reminder for your opponent on the ledge but it's not amazing.
Other things for playing on stage, be careful timing your swings out of dodge cancels and spacing your grounded dodges if that's how you're getting in, as soon as you swing your I-frames disappear, I have eaten many a projectile for swinging too early. If people are jumping in neutral and going up and over you and then coming down to punish, like a wonder woman Nair or something like that, you can meet them in the air with a little read and sair or Nair them (Sair if you're confident on timing, Nair if you're not)
Edgeguarding is absolutely still his biggest strength, we have lost the Nair carries directly to the blast zone, but we can still upb > air dash sair if we catch someone sleeping, threatening that I'm going to follow them all the way out and baiting a reaction has worked for me. I'd say the thing that helped me the most with edgeguarding is paying very close attention to what resources my opponent has used in the air, have they dodged twice? Have they used both specials? You don't need to be 100% accurate but knowing if they've only got one or two things left will help give you that confidence to make the reads and get the KO 🫡

The problem with Finn is that he can hold his charge attack whilst in constant movement for as long as he wants without penalty. This too strong a feature without drawback. Thats akin to Superman not having stamina drain on all his armor moves. The developers can solve this by draining Finn’s stamina that longer he charges or putting it on a timer. Or slowing his movement the longer he charges. He’s too strong.

His up air is no range but every other fighter with a throw move has a big meaty air throw - Jason and Jack. His locomotive punch is nothing but situational. His laser doesn’t work. His only reliable special is S.air and U.Special, everything else is hard reads and luck. Meanwhile, everyone is saying that he’s in a good spot.

I literally can't control my throw direction 90% of the time whereas i pretty much only messed up my throws if I was inputting too much and pressed hte wrong direction, laser vision literally just sometimes doesn't hit which throws off my attack because I go in when I think they're gonna get hitstunned only for it to just do nothing

recovery and air side special both are super slow, and the recovery grab has insane endlag on it now

Total dodge fest. I just fought a Tom & Jerry and it was the most annoying thing ever. Everything I’d did was beaten out. Most characters have some kind of cheese and Superman just doesn’t. You can see armor but there’s a whole perk that discredits that.

After being master 1 for a while with superman now, can confirm he is mid tier …Characters who are better than Supes in 1v1 - Arya, Finn, Joker, Batman, Harley, shaggy, gizmo, Steven , WW. Characters who are even with supes in 1v1 - TnJ, black adam, agent smith , Morty , marvin, bugs , samurai jack , iron giant (after recent patch he is a decent matchup). The rest of the cast he is defo better than. The even characters are the ones who I feel superman has a decent matchup against and are similar in balance. Bare in mind superman has a huge bug with lasers which can literally cause losses when it doesn’t work, especially for me since lasers is a huge part of my playstyle.

Brawlhalla at this point probably has tighter controls. I liked mvs for it’s tight control and extreme freedom but it feels like they nerfed everything so hard it’s basically brawlhalla where the startup outpaces the endlag so you’re just throwing out attacks wherever the opponent might be if they were trying to get back to stage or god forbid- be aggressive.

at mid to high percents nair can setup for a sniper punch kill off a ground bounce + read

but its not really true so YMMV

In truth though what I think would help immensely is learning how to play jack

to understand his flaws and take advantage of them when you're fighting against him

I main a couple characters, one of them being supes, which is probably my most played one

it does but it's not quite as crazy as you might think

frost breath takes a while to come out and has significant end lag meaning it can be punished pretty easily

that and it does give the opponent a projectile right in front of them 9/10

yes that is true but it's not useless and I've seen tons of players pick it up and use it for a potential combo starter
