As with all fighting games, the skill ceiling is high and fundamentals practiced for hundreds of hours in other games transfer over. You will need to practice to keep up if it's your first. Unfort, there are no good resources for new players to match with only newer players in most games, so you'll have to find them on your own. Most of us either had the benefit of starting our first fighter and growing alongside with other new friends, or just struggled against good people until we figured it out. Best I can suggest is hovering around here in #lfg-casual and asking if any new new players to fighters want any games. Gl

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I guess I'm the minority in that I was mostly attracted to this game because of the roster, while everyone else seems to trying out their third or forth fighting game. I've played smash bros before but only at parties with friends, so yeah I'll probably never be as good as life long fighting game players. Yea it's rough without friends to start out with. I've had the benefit of doing so, and whenever I encounter new players their likelihood to stay seems to correlate strongly with whether they make strong friendships early on, and/or are close enough level to someone they make friends with. COVID is raging right now, but fighting games typically have local scenes. It's a lot easier to network in-person, since fighting game players recognize how scary it is for new people to come to events and so are really helpful. Even if you drop the game at some point, I highly rec giving it another go and searching for local MVS groups once you feel safe going out COVID-wise

On Finn I use it to approach or retreat and threaten, it's also good for big stupid combos like 5 down airs into an up special

It's probably not a good habit, but where the average player is I seem to be able to overwhelm most by just constantly having a fast disjoing out, on more passive or smarter players I can dash jump first to make it a solid whiff punish

On Finn I think it's very useful, I was using it on shaggy and it doesn't seem to be as good because his aerials have a ton of end lag even with the extra lag cancelled

i use controller, but do you not know about air dodges? its literally in the starter tutorial

Just get used to to distance that u dodge, then u can get a better understanding of when to use it

u can chain that with a fast fall jump and if u have the triple jump u can jump again so its literally insane
