Some of the top players here are still good but some are also just better than average which is now enough to be GM. I used to hit gm early in seasosns because Id get my masters climbs done early then let it drop, now if I wanted to I can hold it til the season ends but I got my banners for hitting it already anyway so it doesn't matter.

Wavedashing is weird because of how it has interacted with the stamina bar over seasons, I dont blame people for not touching it, and it feels like they gradually made Iads less necessary than they used to be, Jack use to need them until they tied a lot of his combos into cancelling the first part of his uptilt, so now he only needs to IAD vs small bodied characters, it is also useful if you are jabbing someone off ledge to IAD a dair on some characters. Really it just depends who oyu play

Oh dude it's 100% worth it. People still play Melee competitively and it's very much still loved till this day. A scene that's been around since like 2005?

And there's way you can play melee on pc as well and get good at it that way

Ultimate is the easiest game to get into and has a much smaller skill gap and is very fun. It's the most balanced smash game as well. I wouldn't recommend getting into ult bc the netcode is horrible. The only way to experience it truly is to play offline with friends, or at locals (or you could hack ur switch?)

There's also a platform fighter that came out last year that's heavily inspired from Smash melee's mechanics called rivals of aether 2. And that games very good as well, it has a huge scene
