heres a good rick combo for those asking

side-neutral string (dont do the last hit)

side-special (portal, just input it quickly and it should work, note that it doesnt work if you add something like a foward air before doing the side neutral)

neutral special, back (spawn a meeseeks then command him to go backward)

this sends them away and kills at around 130-150
but at lower percents it's advised not to let up so you could either quickly down air them or foward air them as they're flying.

You only have 1 opponent so they're always the opponent with the highest damage so it's just a flat 7% damage increase.
Pugilist also gives you about 10% bonus damage. If you stack both of them you have a 17% damage increase which is insane

Your spacing is bad then or you are being out-spaced, all characters can do this, certain moves take priority & some will hit you first simply because of hit/hurtbox. Go into lab & test it out against the moves you're struggling against. But Batman is not the only one with moves that have good prio (Wonder Woman, Shaggy, Finn, Banana Guard) there's even more, like Jason's mist-step when timed right beats almost everything. Just gotta go into lab so you can get used to it or learn how to parry the moves you can't deal with

Batman's vertical game is strong but, that's sort of his strength, just like how Finn is most dangerous when both his feet are planted on the stage, Batman is most dangerous if you are above or below him. There will always be hard matchups, but there is no matchup Batman is so good at that it becomes so easy to win that the character carries you rather than your own skill. But if you neuter what makes a character good, you end up with a roster of characters that are only superficially different. I much prefer clear strengths & weaknesses over having 50 characters that all have basically the same moves with a different coat of paint.

Well Marvin is also a very vertical character, at least when I play him, trumpet & his up neutral & air up neutral, so in that matchup it's mostly spacing, because if you focus on your movement & timing, you should be able to predict Batman (unless they are decent, in which case they'll be using instant air dashes & tricky movement to start combos instead of just jumping & making it obvious) there it becomes more tricky & a lot about neutral. Marvin is hard to play right, I've got a fair few games on him & I still feel like I suck.

You have to press your advantages hard though, if people play like that using a lot of instant air dashes, boost jumps & roll attacks etc, their dodge meter will deplete in seconds & if they whiff or you dodge, they are so doomed. Go into lab & see if you can practice parrying the moves you struggle against the most or getting your dodge timing down... People absolutely freak out when you're good at parrying moves (make sure to be looking at the enemy & not yourself when learning to parry, you want to know the exact que to hit dodge)

Marvin is very good against people trying to mess with him like that, just gotta know when to go on the hyper-aggro. If I'm not mistaken too, unless Batman aims down I think you can dodge his batarang just by crouching on Marvin

Almost everyone is sort of supposed to play like that, Mages a little less, Assassins a little more, but really you want to be the one in charge at all times, which is probably why Marvin v Batman matchup is so weird for you, if you're both about as good at the game as eachother or the batman is slightly better, it will just feel like you are always on the back-foot reacting to your opponent instead of being the one making plays. Just gotta practice, get more confident & play the neutral

Basically yes - and if they're heavier its more like 0-100 doesnt knock back, 100-150 knocks back normally, 150-200 powerful knockback, not actual numbers but just for the understanding in general
