if you're on controller, alter your controls so you can jump & attack at the same time. use the right stick for lights because you don't have to aim with your body.
bind your neutrals.
read & react, this game makes it pretty easy to punish when people throw stuff out randomly, just bait them.
also , at least for me, I always expect the hitbox of my attacks to be closer to my character than they actually are, try to notice if your spacing your hits properly because the further away you can be while still connecting an attack the better and easier you're gonna have countering people

debuffing your ally while they KO the enemy -- not an assist
debuffing your enemy while your ally KOs them -- not an assist
doing most of the damage and your ally getting the KO -- not an assist
basically anything other than hitting the enemy about 1 second before your ally KOs them -- apparently not an assist.

More than half of all my playtime in the game has been playing bot matches trying to get assists, and I'm still only at 18/25 on the most assists milestone. If they're gonna use this metric for missions it shouldn't be so broken.

yep. not just hitboxes, but hurtboxes. that and the “floatiness” of the characters is turning off a ton of people who play other platformer fighters like Smash or RoA. Brawlhalla fans are at home, I guess
