First, this would be kind of like saying, "We should have different channels for different languages because it has multiple people talking about different languages." Both of those servers were not that active, and combining them made it easier for the helpers; many of the helpers that help in both channels can help both college and high school students in one server; this new change will take some getting used to, but I think you will realize it is very beneficial. (Also you are welcome to start different threads to talk about HS in general if you really believe it should be separate.)

based on reading your message, what seems to me is that these kind of schools are only applicable to a small part of schools, that too in New York. adding a different channel for such specific type of admission process, would not be of any help considering that we have had many channel reccomendations, which have been declined with the same reasoning, that it is too specifc to be made innto a different channel. In this channel, users will be able to share resources that are not in #📎ㆍresources.
These can be related to any subject that can help students academically.
This is important due to the fact that the current resources channel is very limited, and students who have used certain websites/resources usefully can decide to share things they have found for others. There are lots of great resources and tools on the internet, and this would be a good channel for us to find what we need.
This can be either a category or a channel.
If it's a category, it would be divided into something like math-resources, science-resources, etc. and these would be a forum channel with a tag required, so that we can select tags like "AP Calculus BC" and it's easier to search through.
I have not shared this idea before but some improvements/changes can be made.
The resources channel can be very inactive because it's a forum channel and not everyone knows or has access to good resources, but I am confident that it will be useful for numerous members of this discord server.
I don't think that having a dedicated channel/category for this is a bad idea. If some members are not interested they can just unfollow the channels anyway.

Maybe do some roles specific to some popular countries so people can find some ppl of their country or area if they need help with something specific to their country or something? Or maybe regions of a continent/large country (like eastern US, Western US, Eastern Europe, Western Europe, East Asia, Subcontinent, Australia + NZ) so if needed for whatever reason - maybe help with local schooling, ideas, information or whatnot. It could also be maybe for applying for a uni or someone to talk to in general about something that happened in your area or about your area. I just thought of this and thought maybe could be a decent idea if you guys are interested. Obviously the logistics and everything would be difficult, but it's up to you guys with the experience and power to weigh if this is worth it and if it is, how and all the little things needed to do this? Idk this text was a bit long, if clarification needed I can explain. My brain a bit all over the place so sorry if it sounds a bit confusing lol.

3. We have too many channels already and we are actually always actively considering archiving unused channels.

2. Study tips used for most subjects tend to overlap.
3. Niche study tips are not necessarily discussed that often and so I don't see a point in making a specific channel just for that.
4. Making several study tips channels will ultimately kill the already existing #study-tips and most of the new study tips channels, as messages will be distributed across all of them.
5. How about you use the individual help channels instead for specific study tips? Say, #math-help for math related and specific advice.

To be honest, asking for life advice from a bunch of 13-16 year olds on Discord doesn't seem logical either.

There are generally better places to find life advice. There doesn't have to be a specific channel for that here on this server.

That could be a server specifically for life advice, other discussions forums, or heck, people IRL often have good things to share.

There has always been a long standing issue on this server where users share advice that always seem to be contrasted or challenged by other users.

And given the vagueness of life, and the variability of its condition across the world, there is no right or wrong answer.

But, looking at the bigger picture, we believe that the server doesn't really need one and that, if we do, we would run into unnecessary problems and arguments. Which further strains our current moderation team consisting of volunteers.

And from what I see before anyone says anything (or maybe I’m too blind to see a difference), #college-guidance just helps us with preparing as a freshman like picking out majors or finalizing our application letters

For this new channel, college life, people who already have a feel for it are able to share how they’re doing and what life in college is like for them. Whether they’re on a struggle bus or feel completely chill, they’re able to share that there

The only problem I could think of is some random kid thinking they’re some kind of “all knowing college mentor” by searching everything off of Google (pretty much filtering who’s actually a graduate and who’s not, which seems like a lot of work Ik 😔)

I've made a ticket to confirm that the rule in the pins about no clubs for games is about video games. This makes sense since we have #chess-club .

We should have a Dungeons & Dragons club channel.
Threads are great for general and such, but when it's a game that can get a little complex it makes sense to have a channel. In hindsight of the attached statistics for chess plays and D&D plays, the club should be added. There is a big amount of people who play D&D, lower than chess, but still a giant number.

I know a multitude of people in this server like DND, from comments and remarks in #general and other places too.
There has only been 1 other person suggesting we should have a D&D club here, but I think it would be a good open space for the people who do like the game.
The channel would be for tips on the game, rules of the game, help with creating something for the game, but those could be threads in the channel itself (which could be a general area for D&D)
I would be glad to help out in the channel if it were to be a thing, and I'd be extremely happy if the club came; a channel for just TTRPGs could also work, but wouldn't be as optimized as a specific D&D channel, and D&D is the most played TTRPG.

Here's what I'm thinking:
Why not add a mentorship channel in Matchmaking?
Here's why I think it would be useful:
-It could help students who want to help with their learning, but may not have the money to do so. Especially to those who need it, I think that it would be a great channel.
-It would be in an easily findable spot, meaning a lot of people could benefit from it, and not just a few people.
How it would work:
-If people wanted to, they could be paired up to someone that has a mentorship role (which would have to be added by Gohar), and people could use a command, say, !find mentor, or something along those lines.
-Then, it work would similarly to the #👥ㆍfind-study-partner channel.
-I would feel that a lot of people would be interested in this channel, as @onyx elm mentioned.
-There would be no discussion, similar to the #👥ㆍfind-study-partner channel.
-I wouldn't promote activity of said channel, because it is not one where communication is required, nor needed.
-I see how this could be resembling #👥ㆍfind-study-partner a lot (since it does work similarly), but I feel, again, as @onyx elm said, "...for a more wide variety not just one peer, maybe to have mentors or to mentor...", so it would be a wider variety.

Also andrew has previously stated they tried a qualified helper role and it was a nightmare to manage. We have office hours and we have helper pings who are mostly reliable. I think that's the best you can find on a discord server

Threads can also organize homework help so there won't be conflicting messages for help at the same time.

Alternatively, since this server (In my opinion, don't roast me for this) is along the vibes of "Ask for homework help",
and not suitable for chatting about day-to-day happenings if there's no suitable club/thread for you to join, and that #general is constantly flooded with messages,
should we increase places for people to talk about day-to-day happenings and not just homework so that they can level up quicker?

As for the thread permissions, there is actually an issue of there being too many threads on the server. Too many to the point that it is very hard to moderate them all. Depending on the situation, we may or may not alter the level requirements for threads.

Suggestion: Allow us to report people who are disrupting Study VCs 1 and 2 and ban/prevent them from using them. It's a common occurrence that people go into those 2 VCs and start yelling or intentionally interrupting and breaking the silence. Suggestion:
The helper roles could be divided for higher levels of certain subjects. For example, math could be divided into middle school and high school math because you obviously wouldn't want a middle school kid getting pinged in #math-help to attend to a high school kid's doubt. It would waste everyone's time and effort.
By implementing this solution, one could get the appropriate clarifications to their doubts, from the appropriate people of their grade.

(In advance SORRY THIS MESSAGE IS LONG i explain why later.) In a nutshell AN ADVICE CHANNEL, and here is why...

An advice server would be great. Most servers here cover a specific topic, but the down side is I have questions that cant be answered on here, for example the chess club is cool but how come we have a chess club but no mentorship server or life skills and guidance, heck even that stuff can be too specific maybe just something as vague as "guidance" or "advice" can work. I basically see this discord server as a forum / community of sorts, its been very helpful to me, but on certain questions the channels are not helpful. Another idea is some sort of plan where we map out every possible community we could create here, we don't have a history nerd community instead we have academical history, when i went there to learn and nerd out about history with people, people there did not enjoy studying history at all, this is only one topic not including a science community to nerd out about new discoveries and space exploration, stuff like this to make this community more intellectually vibrant, instead of teens who hate studying the topics others love, and it'll just make learning more fun i guess, thanks for reading all this text too if you did, id really appreciate this kind of a channel, to highlight a side of learning not many people see, plus who doesn't like studying something they like, and being smarter? Please consider the idea I've been asking and hoping it would happen.

not for everything though, for example you wanna study something interesting for fun from ancient history if you go to the social studies help it'll just be like "what does your home work look like" "what are your questions" but sometimes i just wanna learn for fun, i may not have questions i just wanna learn, or maybe my questions aren't aiming for a higher grade which different goals get different results, academic studying versus external studying for fun will give different results or have some sort of mentor, a thread just wouldn't suffice for this idea and it wouldn't go in depth, if i thought it would i wouldn't have asked for a channel for it, i just think this idea is in need of a channel specifically

I will say I maybe be wrong on some parts but I believe his main factor is that in case of a channel there are other channels it could go in a the channel would likely be inactive as I looked and may have done it wrong but I put in search, “help with accounting” which I only got 32 responses for so it would be reasonable to believe it would be a dead channel with little to none activity. A role could be more ideal but as stated before little to no people need help with it so it would do nothing. And, that role will be dead like many other roles. These main roles are just the language roles which most see little to no usage. So I hope this helps. This same idea has been denied beforehand too multiple times although not always in this channel.

I would like to suggest a new general chat but in different languages, like Spanish, so people can chat in their own language and way. So implementing this we could pass any risk or problems because of confusion or misunderstanding because some vocabulary or form of communication.

And the second suggestion is to add mods in different languages so we have more control and order of what people is speaking about, and don't have confusions.
