Our main concern is the fact that if we do implement a debate club, we are not sure who will be there to regulate and moderate the club activity since discussions can be sensitive.

Well, yes, but as I previously said, our aim is to minimize the chances of negative outcomes. Having for example a channel like #general is necessary for a server like this (sometimes, people want a break from things and just do whatever they please), so it won't be removed despite it decreasing the chances of negative outcomes.

Introducing a debate channel will increase the risk of such outcomes rather than minimizing them.

Having a debate channel could also make the server a less welcoming environment for some members because of all the various debates.

How do you know that debate channel wouldn’t work if you haven’t tried it in a controlled environment (with topics decided daily/weekly, and debate moderators watching over the action).

We actually have tried that in the past (a specific environment with topics decided, a time frame, and moderators - not an actual debate channel, but it was something similar to one) and that did not work that well, in fact, it slightly negatively impacted the community for some.

If we make them so frequent, fewer will participate. Having a weekly question enhances the experience because of the suspense and engagement it creates. That's actually why many series don't release all the episodes of their new season at once, so in the long run, more people will be involved in it haha

Yes we already have a book club but think about it in most book clubs you hear about they just talk about pre existing books, poems, and other forms of literary expression.

Yes we could use the book club but then there would be a conflict of interest between the people looking for help with their stores and people who are trying to share their book recommendations.

This would benefit both clubs because the book club knows a thing or two about a good book and could pop over to give complements or suggestions and I'm sure the book club wouldn't pass down the chance to support a aspiring novelist or poet if they really like their work.

hi I have a suggestion for an event/game that could be hosted in this server

2 people (random or qualified from a previous game) participate in a split/steal game for discord nitro/classic, they each can choose split or steal, if both splits, they both get nitro classic, if one splits and one steals, the one that steals get nitro and the other get nothing, if they both steal then neither of them gets anything, they can talk to each other for 3 minutes before the decision, a perfect test for trust, friendship, greed and betrayal!

we can create a bot and have it match all participants into a private channel (would be messy yeah, but members will only see their own channel)
anyway when the bot puts everybody into pairs itll have em play the split and steal game. however, the difference is that itll be some sort of tournament.
if both of the members in a pair pick split, they will both move on to further rounds. if either picks steal, then whoever picked steal will move on to another round. if both pick steal, they will both get booted.
rounds will repeat until 2 members remain, which will have one final game (2 steal -> both lose (but maybe get a role or smth,) 1 steal + 1 split -> stealer gets nitro and role, and 2 split -> both get classic and role)
