So I have been playing sekiro

And I’ve been playing it like every 2 days

So I keep losing track of where I am and

I thought i was in like the middle of the game so I did the shura ending

and now I have to start a whole ass journey to fight the saint guy

which means fighting the apes and everything

I thought I was in the middle of the game when I was in the god damn ending

And so I sided with my dad without actually knowing how much it would matter

It doesn’t. Carian Sword Sorceries and Glintblade Sorceries are both labeled as “Carian Sorceries” in their description. What’s even more annoying is that there are other carian sorceries that don’t count as “Carian Sword” or “Glintblade” as well.

I should make this clear that this is a minor nitpick at best but for some reason it causes my brain-goblins to scream in frustration at the obtuseness

Oh also another small nitpick. I wish you could see the final scaling for weapons before they are fully upgraded.

Like for example, the knight Greatsword looks like it’s a quality weapon with D/D scaling but suddenly when it’s at its final levels it jumps to a D/C scaling, so you should have been favoring dex over strength the whole time. Also when it comes to elemental weapons it would be nice to know if it will always have a C scaling in int or faith or if the scaling will suddenly become a B

Obviously the wiki helps a lot with these issues but during my first blind playthrough it was a fair bit annoying

Finally finished the dlc of ds3, and a few points: Midir isn’t hard, took less than 10 tries just get a good shield. First two phases of friede’s fight are hilariously easy losing maybe 3 estus at most, with the 3rd being incredibly difficult. And i gotta say nameless king, dancer, and pontiff sulhyvan all tie for the hardest boss in the game.

How so? For me, the open world aspect is the reason I was willing to give this series a try. I don't do well with the traditional getting stuck and having to do the same boss 100 times to progress in the game, like people told me older Souls games used to be. I like being able to give it a few tries and then go elsewhere. I can take on a different challenge or just explore.

elden ring is like 2x casual when i beat ds3 i thought that was pretty casual but ER takes the cake. i dont understand this die 100 times to the same boss if someone died that many time youd think they try something different or rework their strategy or ungrade gear. Durability goes down so slowly in dark souls it's never an issue, every time you upgrade a weapon the durability is reset to full and the cost to repair is so cheap it's hilarious

So, I recently finished Elden Ring, and it was a blast. I'm thinking of buying Dark Souls 3. But I have one question. Does the PS4 physical GOTY edition contain all the DLC, and 60 fps?

it is not that hard, deflect is really easy to do, which speaks to how well designed the combat is. Its just, you need to follow the rules of the combat. Once you do it its one of the more chill games. Though without kuro charm it can be pretty hard

I hear other stories about how other players got that “click” whenever they fought a certain boss. And afterwards the game becomes a little bit easier.

I think that click for me was when I got my very first prayer bead from that samurai general. As well as some of the mini bosses in Ashina Outskirts

Like, from my experience in ER and what little knowledge I have from other fromsoft games, it involves a lot of evading and punishing, mostly dodge rolling.

But for Sekiro, besides the occasional step dodge, it demands that you constantly put the pressure on the enemy.

Attacking and deflecting, pulling off the appropriate counters against perilous attacks, using prosthetics, using reusable and consumable items.

It wants you to be in the trenches fighting for your life

And I gotta say, the combat is damn amazing

Bad analogy but, a lot of artists who try to change or expand & mix in other genres, end up falling off & not doing well commercially. I think the devs did a really good job at implementing open world into the design without straying from what makes the games great. What they did expand on pretty much all works well & makes sense. & the lore discoveries have been cool too. I get why people prefer the other titles tho. I just dont think its objectively inferior.

Unpopular/hot take be prepared: repeat bosses aren’t disappointing to me especially considering the lore behind them. Now, maybe a few are way overused but it would make logical sense if you made the same type of guardian to guard catacombs, like the erdtree watchdogs. Or another unpopular case, the Astel at snowfield. Astel isnt a singular creature, AN Astel is the fully formed version of a fallingstar beast. Those giant hanging astel looking things are the fallingstar beasts after the pupae stage, and once they are fully done morphing like a butterfly they become an Astel. Things like these make these bosses more enjoyable from a lore perspective. Sure, its a game and people dont like fighting the same enemy over and over, but the watchdogs being in every catacombs make SENSE, the fact that around every erdtree is the erdtree guardian or the giant snake things MAKES SENSE, despite the fact that they repeat over and over. Same thing with the tree sentinels and how they are placed. Im not saying its super enjoyable fighting the same boss again and again, but i would say it’s unrealistic from a lore perspective that every single dungeon has different guardians and enemies. Lore wise, it simply makes sense. (Except dragons. All dragons fight the same except for 2-3 super moves on some of them and its lame, but thats my only gripe)

its just lazy game development to copy paste, there are bosses that are weaker then other versions in the game but coz its open world it doesnt help the case. feels alot more mass production over trying to tailor an experience. The bosses ai arent specially designed they are just enemies no matter if they put 2 of them in the same room.( that being said i enjoyed ur lore bit) it would of been different tho if the game had more distinct enemies givin the zone. edit: godskin duo for example would be 100% more enjoyable if they had more of an O&S ai instead of being as fast as possible. The AoE moves on Borrealis and Ekzykes are annoying tho bc they make you need to shut off dragon-fight-autopilot for once 💀. Only repeat boss that I don't really like being so common is the Deathbirds. It feels like there are too many.

One of the few thing I’ll give dark souls 2 credit for was how it did powerstancing, letting you powerstance most weapons together and actually taking into account the weight of both weapons, you wanna use to great swords? Your gonna be shouldering both. They did it there and then stopped doing it in future games, as far as I’m aware at least, correct me if I’m wrong.
