try to explore the world instead of farming runes, most of your damage is gonna come from weapon upgrades from smithing stones you find around the world. If you like that weapon you're simply gonna lvl up vigor and then dexterity mainly

plus, why would you lvl up faith for the swordspear, it doesn't have innate faith scaling.
when you're done with the 40 vig lvl up your faith to 15 for fire grant me strength (a powerful incantation buff)

incantations are a type of spells, you can use incantation with a seal (you can get one from the maiden husk shop in the round table) while having your incantation equipped (and ofc having the required stats)
fire grant me strength is an incantation that buffs your phys damage by 20% (and fire damage by 20%) for 30 seconds and it requires only 15 faith to use
