It's fine! Fine I tell you!
You’re the one that told me not to use it, before I did, and got burned 😛
I've worked out what it's for now
Lo
It’s not for being a MCU power rail supervisor, I can tell you that much…
Haha
Slap a big resistor to that, and it'll pull the EN pin down a tiny bit.
Well, removing hysteresis if you want.
Adjusting it
There is already hysteresis on the under/overvoltage threshold, but you’d saying use the output of it to screw with those more if the default isn’t what you want?
I have done that trick on a boost converter…
Yes, although I wouldn't do it with one of them. That's how you end up burned...
But mostly it's just another not-very-good comparator.
heh
Is the solar charging circuit at all connected to the pro micro?
I was having issues with my battery charging with an old pro micro bootloader and suddenly when I updated the bootloader the solar charging worked as expected. Thanks
i mean its on the battery line so technically it does go to the promicro
but not controlled by it
@blazing trout this is the channel for the washtastic, in case you're not familiar with it.#
haha
price for single unit is 85 and tx power is 1W
lead time is not 30+ days when in stock 🙃
like it is currently
I put price as my number 1 priority and it puts nodes at the top that will literally bankrupt me.
I call 10000000% BS
yeah, I'm calling it.
HEY! i'm happy to update data.
I'll take a look rn
Thank you for calling this to my attention
I'm editing the database now. Just to verify
Nrf52840 based, E22 1W radio
Is there gps natively? is it optional?
are there buttons on the board for IO? if not, can you wire buttons to the GPIO?
The price is likely wrong as well. What's the current price including shipping and tariffs to USA?
What's the current lead time?
Ya the pricing metric needs work. I'd love suggestions on how to do that.
My equations are listed lower on the page
Currently its just another score that gets added to the others.
If you reduce your other weights to 1 or 0, then you get a lot cheaper devices.
Honestly, I can't see how you can build a fair comparison. The use cases are completely different.
thats the point of ajustable weights
It obviously needs tuning but the goal is to just have a database which people can filter.
I'll have a look at the formula, but I suggest many of the factors are non-numeric.
I need more documentation as well. Please share anything that seams vague and confusion.
Sure I sell radios but that's not the point of this tool.
I just updated it to 1w (my bad on that)
The other thing that would make yours rank much higher is price.
I used this link as my price reference: https://www.elecrow.com/washtastic-nrf52-powered-and-solar-ready.html?srsltid=AfmBOoq32GPSIBWsLEHIdAWMWCblf4i0qUHghcLKnOewAX6bmwgWBBEl
i have no idea about tariffs also no clue about shipping.
lead time is currently as fast as elecrow can process the orders untill sold out
okay. looks like its in stock so I'll just call lead time one day like how I do on other sites.
36 in stock :)
Elecrow is only showing that the DDP fee is $8.80 to USA
With the current rates, its should be around $35-45
I know some people who bought them there so I'll verify what they ended up getting charged.
Yeah, I think you need to apply some non-linearity to these scales. It's weighing ruggedness and waterproofing too highly, compared to nodes that can just be mounted simply in an electrical enclosure.
There's also the matter of included benefits: the expensive dev boards in a fancy box are presumably for wall charging only, no solar or multi-voltage capability.
Stuff like the washtastic and the various solar nodes don't get any credit for that, either.
Solar ready should for sure be a data point.
the additional fields for ruggedness don't add to the weight of ruggedness, it just changes which values the tool looks at to score a device's ruggedness.
One easy thing I can implement for price would be a max price slider.
also, perhaps a region selection which would adapt tarrifs to where you're ordering from
ya, I just verified the price for 2 to usa was $280 for a friend.
I plan on adding some filters as well which would help your board but for USA user, its currently ranked 5th because of the tariffs.
I'll check back after I add more to the site to make it more fair for non usa buyers.
You’re missing a few series of boards there buddy 😉
which do you suggest I add?
there's a lot of boards lol. Had to start some where
How many boards in your list comes with adjustable solar voltage panel ?
I'm not sure but that's a field that I'm planning to add.
do you have any recommendations on boards to add?
someone reveived a board with broken sensor 😅
One of my radios has a bad temperature/humudity sensor.
The sensor metal case has a dent in it, and it does not report a proper humidity.
The other radio works perfectly.
Here are debugging messages from the temperature/humidity sensor.
kilian0:
DEBUG: AHT10/AHT20 temp: 22.785378
DEBUG: AHT10/AHT20 humidity: 20.301533
kilian1:
DEBUG: AHT10/AHT20 temp: 22.175789
DEBUG: AHT10/AHT20 humidity: 0.000000```
Oh dear
yeaaa
first board that is actually defective, can u believe it?
or atleast first reported
shipped from your or elecrow?
Elecrow
hmm hard to tell whose fault it was then.
my sensors had this yellow tape on top when received from jlc 🤔
It does have a tape on it
But its had a dent 😅
Clearly someone hit it
Maybe not elecrows fault
But certainly not buyers
Issue has been resolved, Elecrow is sending replacement sensors 😅
User gonna fit them themselves?
Yup
If u look at this photo its through a microscope so 😅
Id be surprised if they didn't know how to do it
Lets see who i see from elecrow at ew
I need to get my a microscope setup for my iron station..
in need a microscope
I saw one
Hmm, my washtastic board can't be connected to when just on battery power it seems.. Which is odd..
@heavy mist you made one case right?
Not even connecting to PC via USB w/ Meshtastic desktop..
This one.
So the board has to be vertical ?
Odd, I had to reflash the board to get it to connect..
I have a v0.3 board, looking for an enclosure to be used on my dashboard.
this model is for the v0.3.5
if iris can provide a 3d model for the v0.3 i can adjust the mounting holes, rst button und on/off looks like to be on the same position as on v0.3.5
I think the 0.3.5 is just a longer board, more components on it..
You should be able to look at the commit history to find one..
i can find the gerber, but i dont know how to extract a 3d model out of it 🙁
@olive basin You got a CAD file for v0.3 board ?
No worries, when you can.
@olive basin Not trying to bug, just following up on the cad for v0.3 board.. 🙂
Yea i forgot 🤣
All good.. I'll just start bugging you about it.. ;P
U know, forgot it again lol
@olive basin CAD ? ;P
Will remember one day
@olive basin Time to bug you again.. ;P CAD ? LOL
@heavy mist Lemme know if this works for you..
🏃
yes, can you sketch me what u mean with dashboard like?
Car dashboard
send pic pls
I'll grab one next time I go out to the garage..
Here is 1 dashboard..
I guess for this one, the enclosure you have already could work. For my truck tho, its different. Ill get some photos tomorrow of that..
u want to but it in front of the screen flat in dis little "tray"?
Ideally, or for it to sit behind the screen. In my truck, I have a recessed area that it will sit in.
Wife starts complaining if anything blocks her infotainment screen..
ok, hear me out.... suction cup and stick it to the back of the infotainment 🤣
I'm not sure if that will work, since it's not a flat smooth surface..
In normal operation?
charging
Might need to check the gate/drain voltage while it's doing so
ill have to do that
but yea, would have not know this 😅
some of the charging current might be lost there
is this the sponsored cam?
definetly not
what cam is this, seems good quality
it indeed seems pretty good
any pointers on getting a washtastic board to actually see other nodes? tried multiple versions of the firmware from https://mrekin.duckdns.org/flasher/ as well as the promicro diy firmware on the flash.meshtastic.org flasher with no joy, not sure what's up.
what are u seeing in the logs?
I dunno, lemmie fire up the serial montior. I didn't see anything unusual last time I looked. Wish you could open the serial monitor from the web client.
I'll let it run for a bit.. right now just stuff like DEBUG | ??:??:?? 6425 [Power] Battery: usbPower=1, isCharging=1, batMv=4247, batPct=100 DEBUG | ??:??:?? 6485 [Power] Battery: usbPower=1, isCharging=1, batMv=4243, batPct=100 DEBUG | ??:??:?? 6545 [Power] Battery: usbPower=1, isCharging=1, batMv=4243, batPct=100
u should open serial monitor when u are booting it
is an battery attached? even when powered with usb, a battery is needed for the e22 module to work
hmm a battery is not attached, maybe that's it.
any tips on a good battery to get for it?
@olive basin - If i'm using a 0.3.2, and I'm using an external battery with Keith's MPPT, am I just passing 5V to the Solar Port? Its been so long since I've set one of these up on solar.
Keith's mppt charger?
yes, it can put out 3v3, 4.2 or 5V
Use its own input and put it's output to the battery port
hmm and here I thougtht itd be on Solar because if I were to ever plug the ProMicro into a powersource it might try to send a charger over the battery port.
Am I sending the battery port 4.2V or 5V? or should I just stick with the 3.3V? The battery on this is a 2S LTO, so i'm able to output 5V+ no problem.
Battery 4.2
Max
Diode :)
If u put on solar port u want something on the battery port to smooth it
ok, i'll adjust it to 4.2V. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to underpower it.
I now have 10 in stock
https://www.reddit.com/r/meshtastic/s/ZtsP9rKiKF
Not like I'm not aware lol
FYI this is illegal to use in the EU. Also selling without CE marking is not smart.
"This is not a final product. It doesn't work out of the box. Final user needs to add battery, casing and proper legal antenna. Hence the final assembler (ie final user) is the sole responsible of making the product compliance with their regional limits."
short version: fuck off
XD
appropriate response lol
have you though of going E22P ?
yeah, you can copy and paste it in your product description so they bother you less
sure ill do that
I won't charge for it this time
is like @heady mulch final sentece on it's mppt (which I'm really tempted to buy btw):
This is a limited-run development board, intended for trial use by electronics hobbyists who understand the use and risks associated with charging Lithium Ion Cells.
yeee
basically saying 'buy it only if you know what you are doing'
haha true
also idk how the ce mark even rly works 😅
i mean yes i can just say it complies lol but if someone asls for certification idk then lol
you submit papers to the organism regulating it
well yes, then again everytime i change something tests needs to be run again
actually the E22P gets its compliance because the built-in filters eliminates the harmonic frequencies
once im out of stock on these once i will start using em heh
the bad thing is that the promicro is not anywhere close to get the CE certificate
still got 24 on elecrow and 10 on me
you cound do a rework and design the board with a xiao nrf which it is CE
is a powerful, compact size, highly flexible, ultra-low power wireless Bluetooth® LE 5.0/5.1. Versatile Bluetooth 5.3 SoC supporting Bluetooth Low Energy, Bluetooth mesh and NFC
oor
you can also yet off the BT antenna from the promicro and state 'bluetooth not supported, configure only by cli' xDD
but then no ota updates
dam
but yea, maybe ill redesing it to use CE marked nrf lol
Tho using e22p means i need 868 and 915 versions 🙃
Not rly an issue
yeah it sucks, and the community seems to be in a constant change
I'm now mounting the XiaoWa from gargomoma
What a ray of sunshine they are!
I don't get it.. are there plans on running meshtastic in a nrf52832?
heh... quick trigger commenter then
No, I think there's stub code in the repo, though.
@heady mulch is this board published somewhere to put an order on jlcpcb or is etsy the only way to get my hand on one?
The washtastic? It's a @olive basin original. I think she's published some stuff on her GitHub.
my baD!
forgot the link: https://www.etsy.com/listing/4487222129
this mppt from you
(sorry for the offtopic @olive basin )
Ah, I haven't published that one.
It's fairly straightforward to make. Simply take the datasheets of the bq25895, the ina3221, the tps6310000000 and the tps61022, the lm66200, and the cn302 and follow the reference designs and layouts, and then just start tessellating the shapes.
And in 8-10 weeks months you'll have the same thing.
🙂
🥲
is a promising board, I wanted to try it but the 'limited existencies' stops me because if I like the board for my builds there will be a point where I won't be able to get more of them :C
For you, there will always be boards.
ohhh that's so lovely! only for that I jut bought one
you should toss some meshtastic stickers in the packet xD
If only I had some...
I keep thinking of embroidery patches. Idk why.
didn't want to mention the tension about trademark use 😅
I'm fairly sure the
is ok
you too are lovely Iris. Thank you for the offer! I actually was poking a bit at tom 😛
on a related note, where did you got those meshtastic stickers? I wasn't aware of //\ stickers on the wild
Well.... Our lovely @vapid bridge Gave me stack of mpowered stickers.
At embedded world
you summoned me, Mistress? 😉
Uuuhhhh...... Ummhh....
i finally had a bit of the chocolate. that's really good. can't decide if the finnish ao swiss chocolate is better.
That’s cool! I’m jealous
Well, thats more than a few haha
I actually may accept your offer 👀
@severe halo where are you (roughly) located? there may be stock closer to you 😉
I’m from Spain. As far as I know there’s no local meshtastic representative :C
I’m mod on the biggest meshtastic spanish community, a telegram channel with 4800 members, and never heard of anything official in our territory.
I can send you a sticker pack for sure. but indeed, there's no official in spain. Although i usually cover that as 'EU' on a broader base.
It's a good thing you enjoy driving, because walking your "beat" would take a while.
Would love certainly. In all seriousness, I have no problem at all covering shipping costs 🙂
I’m planning on distributing them among our local node builders.
you never saw me walk 🙂
is there a common failure on the CN3791 circuit? My v3.5 board seems to never charge, the firmware pretends that it is charging both over solar and usb when I unplug it, it goes back to what it was... I may have torched the board or the protection to it... any help would be greatly apprecited I have been trying to diagonose this for weeks, with better solar batteris and solar pannels, to no avail
did u choose the mppt voltage?
yes 5V, It could be that my pannels do not actually put out 5v
The 5v setpoint is bit lover actually but if it's too low it won't work, above is fine if its below the max rated voltage
So I think it is the solar pannel. It gets up to 4.9V but struggles to pass any current to the battery
can u show me a pic?
Ok, it was the solar panel, It had a 2a regulator on it from the factory. Removing that and soldering directly to the panel and connecting it fixed the charging issue. Thanks!
