The crested rhino beast is a tameable species of reptile known to eat grass and foliage , although being incredibly large, and scary looking, there have been no reported tamer deaths cause directly by the crested rhino beast, they are very docile until provoked, this creature has been known to adopt lost babies of it’s natural predators, it’s basically the most wholesome animal to ever exist, the only times it hurts other animals is when it is provoked and never directly kills or severely injured, if an attacker is really hurt, the rhino beast will protect it until it recovers, they r extremely social creatures but will diverge from their herds to defend helpless creatures,and most animals respect them and will leave them alone, they have a deep connection to the world, giving their dead herd members to predators to protect their babies, finally if there is a threat to their herd they use a magnificent threat display by flushing their horns with plasma and forming a ball of pure energy above their heads, they have a strong moral code and will rarely deviate from it

And just a warning, I think the atlas should be very large, because the cyclops was cool and all but in the end it felt a little cramped for the largest submarine in the game, and it also wasnt very fast

So you cant fir as much as youd think into it

Cyclops is 54 m long according to the wiki and Seamoth is definitely shorter than 10.8 m, which is 54/5

and personally I find it has plenty of space for my purposes

Basically, my idea is a dock that can be placed into a large room to basically make it a moonpool for the mini-atlas, which is a smaller version of the atlas that acts as a seamoth but slower and can hold an actual seamoth or prawn suit on it

Basically a more compact cyclops (what the cyclops should have been imo)

Basically, a slower seamoth which has the only other functions of being able to go deeper and carry a vehicle

Just joined the community and wanted to share some sketches I did today. I've played Subnautica and BZ in 2021 and now that I'm playing them again with more calm I'm having some ideas about creature designs...
I was wondering "I don't remember seeing many creatures with shells on my first play-through, what if there were some creatures with shells, what would they look like?" So I came up with this design, a mix between horn-shell, Nautilus, and Squid...

After sketching up this design I got even more creative and did some other sketches:

I like the Skyray bird, but I think it's a bit odd that there's only one bird specie, so I thought about another mix of bird and fish that could look good, so I did the "pufferbird" and imagine they inflating when players go nearby them, instead of just flying, looks funny

Ball fish looks like a smaller bone shark, maybe it’s a smaller predator, fits right in.
Big eye fish looks like it can’t live, eye eye from sn could swim at least

As for the Big Eye fish, I think I've paid attention only to the "look" 🙃 and forgot to think about the functionality. It remembers me of the eye from terraria tho

Idk why but majority of creatures in subnautica share a anthropods+ chondrichthyes mix aesthetic. That’s why certain creatures (||sea dragons, sea emperors and frozen leviathan||) look out of place - they look like chimeras made out of animals that are neither cartilaginous fish nor worms/anthropods.
Tentacles and shells are molluscs features and they are not the vibe it seems. Your guy looks like things that existed on earth in that exact shape, so it looks like earth creature, not subnautica creature.

Sry for text walls, you are enabling creature design discussion and I can’t hold it in.

Also I don’t remember any sn fish to have fin rays - it’s a bony fish features, and subnautica didn’t have any (that’s why seeing fingers of land creatures in bz is ⁉️)

although if I may comment on one thing, I get the sense that a lot of people who do Subnautica art tend to overexaggerate the size of creatures 😂 yours for instance I think would be better suited to be around the size of a Sandshark or Boneshark, unless you scaled it up even further and made it into a leviathan
completely up to you of course, but as it is I just personally think it doesn't need to be that large compared to a person

Some primusian plant sketches, they have an endoskeleton which is a hexagonal lattice of iron beneath their bark which helps support their weight, herbivores rasp away their bark to gain access to the skeleton and eat it, due to this many species have evolved ways to defend themselves such as poison and branching metal spines.
