Some games have cloud saves (which means that your save files are stored on Steam's servers). Subnautica 1 and Below Zero do not have cloud saves (on Steam, at least). When you uninstalled the game without backing up your saves manually, you deleted your save files.

It's possible that you could recover them by downloading file recovery software. I don't know how well those programs work (I assume it depends on both what type of files you're trying to recover and the size of said files).

Omega Lab is in the Lilypad Islands so the only place you should have to pass through to get there with a Chelicerate is the Purple Vents and the one there is usually pretty easy to avoid
if it does attack, just get out and repair immediately after it releases you (since it has an attack cooldown), then keep going
