It is definitely possible to get to Delta Station without interacting with her; you can get a Prawn and/or Snowfox before then, and if you're riding either one through the trigger it won't... well, trigger.

I’ve made two storages and a fabricator for follow up playing, but for the first pass I just had one because I wasn’t that familiar with where resources were. Now I’ll especially use the 2 storage/1 fabricator modules when I’m moving out from twisty bridges area to explore around purple vents and lilypads, to collect resources, compress them, and get started on a base in upper lilypads as well. And when I’m doing further exploring in that area, I’ll just park the extra storage module at the base there
