Depends what you're going for (practicality, beauty, etcetera). I prefer the Thermal Spires because it's in the middle of the map, has lots of resources and there are heat sources for thermal energy.

You can also keep it simple by making your base near your Drop Pod. A lot of people make multiple bases as well.

Are large leviathans supposed to not be able to be grappled on top of only spawn if you get close to them? I just tried to take out the shadow leviathan that snakes around the entrance only for it to swim up into the ceiling and vanish twice, and be unable to grapple it. Kind of nearby. There's an end-game biome's entrance nearby that has leviathans inside as well as an entrance to the Tree Spires which a few Chelicerate inhabit. The Lilypads Islands which is also nearby has Squidsharks.

There's also a Data Box for the Stillsuit outside of her base on a ledge.

I got the Asus G14 with a RTX 3060, Ryzen 9 5900HS, 32 GB ram and a 120hz display. at max graphics settings I think it runs at an average of 50 fps? maybe 40. so not perfect but it runs and looks pretty damn good. fortunately subnautica and below zero doesn't have to run at a high fps like other high paste games

Incidentally, the map is the same size in BZ as the original game. There is just a lot more dead space because of the amount of land, and all the ice blocking you into the various passages.

And even when you are not on land, there is just dead space as you approach the void, to discourage you from going out that that far. No resources and minimal fish.

I have a question that I am finding it impossible to find and answer too. I made a mistake I got the antidote but did not pick up the pengling or take anything out of its inventory because it was blocked so I didn't realise until later that I had too collect items out of it so I self destructed it and now I can't find the antidote anywhere. Will it respawn or have I lost it for good I really don't wanna have to start all over again.

||Lilypad trench is easy to find, go down it and circle around the edges of the "glowlights"/"cotton anemone" biome. There are two areas where behind the larger cotton anemones there's a tunnel that leads down much deeper. One is a dud and the other continues on for a while. That one that continues on has a squidshark and a cache at the end||

Most upgrades now can be done thru the regular fabricator, except the later depth upgrades use mod station

||The PDA's accent is literally indecipherable sometimes
Half the biomes are just open water with nearly nothing in them
Sam is an actual idiot and actually did die because of her own negligence
Marguerit literally asks you to do a fetch quest and goes away
Alan asks you to do a fetch quest and brings you to his homeworld without any implication robin could even survive there
Literally any voice line interrupts the pda
The snowfox is actually a joke
All the leviathans are a joke and not even scary
Map is way smaller and more shallow
Useful blueprints are gone for no reason, for example the ultra-glide fins and medkit and ion cube fabricator||
Just to name a few
The base building and ui is vastly improved tho

idk even tho i do believe SOME plot armor is involved with that. I still do think that it is possible to do what she|| did but it rlly depends on when she rode the reaper out into the horizon because if she did it close to "the player" completing the game they she would have a good chance of surviving then again I do feel like it is a bit of a small shot to do all of this||
