the ecosystem collapse resulted in anything bigger than the ||frozen leviathan|| that was carnivorous to die out real quick. the void ghosts are plankton feeders, so that's fine. not sure about the void chelicerate though, but they could've popped into existence after the cure

I built my base on the edge of the twisty bridges and thermal spires but that could be considered the "safe shallows" the lilypad islands can be a good place if you dont mind the lily paddlers and squid sharks
