You can use perimeter defense, however if you're standing in your seatruck (need at least 1 module to do so), he won't attack it, even if he's already noticed it

I think in many ways it is better. When it was first in beta people were suspect of the smaller map and seatruck vs cyclops ... and also no gun .....but the smaller map works better I think. This feels like it has more to it and the truck modularity just works

BZ brought in seamonkeys about the same time that Ark had seagulls and pentos stealing from you. Users didn't like any and the SN devs changed seamonkeys to make them less trolling. Ark still has creatures which can take an entire sea platform in one steal and people hate them. Such a difference in development

That's the entire reason they didn't add it though, due to map being smaller most caves wouldn't be able to fit it

Does it need to be tested though? its quite obvious the devs went into the game knowing they weren't going to add the cyclops, hence most of the gaps and caves ( like the crystal caverns) are really narrow and tight. The only real reason the cyclops would be used is to explore the open waters, which the seatruck is more than capable of doing.
also, why shouldn't i have an opinion on this topic when, even if its not tested, its obvious that it wouldn't work as intended? but that's your opinion i guess.

from what I've been able to watch on YouTube so far, perimeter defense system only works when the threat is already basically hugging the seatruck (right on top of you). Cyclops decoys work at great range iirc, so the super scary (and often also quite ugly) "threat" doesn't have to be right in our face and scare the s..t out of us before being "temporarily neutralized" by the Cyclops-decoys.

The low down?
If you deactivate the scanner room, it saves base power and you can just use the mineral detector.
It also saves you a headslot space if you don't have any plans to use the scanner HUD chip.
Sadly the mineral detector like Cherry said uses power while its drawn out and drains a lot. At most you'd have 5 minutes.
In terms of power consumption, The mineral detector uses less but its only narrow to giving you the location of the NEAREST mineral you're tracking, not the dotted out locations.
So basically between the scanner room and the mineral detector
Its a matter of preference and method.

I have absolutely no idea, the thing is you can make it last as long as you want. Run through it and you'll probably be done under 10 hours and you got a bit of an idea what you're doing. Play slow and you can easily get multiple days of playtime out of it. I can't really judge on it as I also haven't played through the entire story my self and the ending also isn't here yet 😛

Sea Treaders will kick up infinite amounts of shale. Salt and ion cubes are infinite thanks to fabricators. But things like metal salvage and limestone don't respawn.
And yeah you don't get a beacon for when you die, but you can find everything you dropped at the same location.

that's a trick number1 - only check iceberg in which you can get above sea level
obvious trick number two is - if game wants you to be on ice in cold weather than it will give you something to warm with. so check for plants that either warm you directly or have warm food growing

Is it a bug that when your base floods the wall failure points do not show from the outside? I am sure that they used to. Due to ladders not really working when flooded if you have an area only accessible by ladder then you have to play a guessing game from the outside with a repair tool

i need to go back to the ||glacial basin|| and find some POI that ||Al-An|| told me to go to for ||architect|| research. But he told me to be careful due to Ravenous creatures that bury in the ice. Are these creatures dangerous or are they like the spiky traps or similar? and if so is it worth going to the POI at all?

i dont bother with|| thumpers|| since they lose battery to fast
on the ||artic spirals || you can either walk the entire way to your destination or full send it with a snow fox or prawn

the reason prawn is so good is the durbillity
the snowfox loses so much health crashing into a small obstacle like a bump in the path
