Every fish you can catch is a food source. Bladderfish more importantely is a water source, so I would make water from them and cook another fish. Also bladderfish is needed for the air bladder. Btw, if you add salt it does not spoil but needs more water to drink with it.

If the theory is true, then the architects would’ve needed to mass produce the leviathans, which they’ve shown that they’re very bad at connecting with and understanding nature (sea dragon egg incident)

The emperors also produce enzyme 42 in a concentrated state that only 1 exposure is ever required, as opposed to the leviathans where (presumably) you need to constantly feed on it.
Which wouldn’t have worked on herbivore or similar species which don’t hunt other prey.

Of course this is me doing the writing for the devs, could’ve easily been an issue that was kept vague so we could make our own conclusions. Sort of like how marg managed to build stuff in sector zero

I just don't see how that could be the case without the Architects having gone after way more Leviathans than just the Dragon and Emperor. As I recall, they only thought the Dragon had it due to it being related to the Emperor, with no other creatures showing potential signs of it.

Edit: I was mistaken. They took the Dragon egg to try to help them figure out how to hatch the Emperor eggs. The Emperors do seem to be the sole source of Enzyme 42.
