should I look inside ||Mercury II?||
Definitely
I'm gonna make the laser cutter first
It has lots of important stuff, like plants, Reinforced Dive Suit, and the Prawn. The laser cutter is important, and the propulsion cannon helps greatly.
so I get everything in one visit to get away from those squidsharks faster
one question, do squidsharks attack your seatruck if you're not in it? just checking if I should bring my seatruck or only seaglide and air bladder/multiple air tanks
Nothing ever attacks your seatruck when you're not currently driving it.
You can be inside it, nearby or really far - it's immune to all threats
the only threat is a bruteshark pushing your seatruck below crushing depth
Accidentally, as it doesn't even target it
so, do thermal vents have diamonds?
Some of them do, I think
wait.. what? You need diamonds for a laser cutter, which is needed for ||mecury II||, which is where the reinforced dive suit is????
Diamonds are in the deep twisty bridges
You can find diamonds elsewhere too, like Plat said
I'd rather get 1st degree burns than go to the deep twisty bridges again
nevermind I only found lithium : (
could still use it for a large room tho
@steel shoal , do you have any name ideas for the "hanging plant" and "||Deep Lily Pads|| flower 03"?
She’s decayed further
Right. I sincerely hope I was not offensive for asking...
Nop
It's fine to ask
It's worse to assume
I can think of the words Yellow, Stems, Spotted and Bulbous
What about the yellow spotstalk?
oooo
I like it
I can't think of anything better so we'll go with that
Blossoming Roof-vines?
Wow, Cotton Anemone Crevice is such a pretty biome, no?
It's simpler, but I was thinking of calling it a garland plant. I like garland vine more, though. Regardless, it's an amazing biome.
For the former plant, I'd like to propose a slight change. What about the name "yellow glowstalk"?
That's even better, you're right
So we call it Garland Vine?
I'll defer to you; I like your name as well.
I can't wait to finish naming all the plants and biomes, then we can start writing their PDA entries 🫶
Yours is better, I think
It already has a name, but the cliff lantern seems extremely interesting.
It looks nice
Do you know where I might find the tongue plant? It has a page on the wiki, and supposedly grows in the ||Lilypad Islands||, but it might not be part of the game anymore.
Nevermind
do you only lose items you found after leaving your base?
Yes. All others are saved. Seatruck counts as a base.
The drop pod does as well, for this purpose.
so thats why I spawned inside my seatruck cockpit after drowning
so is it better to bring your prawn suit/seatruck to dangerous areas or only seaglide ||I'm going to Mercury II, which may or may not be infested with squidsharks||
I think I already told you the trick with the Seatruck. If you have a module, you can get inside it without piloting.
I dont have modules
for some reason sometimes I just spawn in the cockpit, no modules at all
cryptosuchus = giant angry platypus crocodile
Yes, that's normal
But if you have a module, stopping to pilot with make it so nothing attacks you
peeper
There's only one large ruby deposit, correct?

There are 2
Are they both in ||Koppa Mining Site||?
One is actually in the bottom chamber, near a wall.
do cryptosuchus respawn, and how strong are they?
because as soon as I get a prawn suit I'm having a fist fight with all of em
They don't respawn, and they're fragile.
alright
Tigrinum, you were not suppose to encourage such thing
Now they're going to spam dead Cryptolosers all over the place 😔
I can finally get relieved of the constant roars, it makes me think a squidshark or smth is behind me
Some people might only do it if they respawned... anyway, my apologies.
ok fine I'll just shock them with perimeter defense
and throw grav traps
also quick question, does bz have the stasis rifle or is that only in the original subnautica
Stasis Rifle was removed, same with the Repulsion Cannon
: (
What was the issue with the repulsion cannon?
and ramming with a seatruck isnt just as bad? it kills most of the aggressive creatures in a few hits
Well, yes
You were not supposed to kill anything other than edible fish
The truck is slower than the seamoth, though
then why make them killable 😂
Because it's a sandbox game
oh well, grav trap is basically the same thing
They have healthbars in case you want to use instagib to remove everything and everyone
Cryptosuchus have low health because they're often eaten by the Chelicerate
I'll let the cryptosuchus live but I'm killing all of the brute sharks
they're way too aggressive to be near my base
If you swim above them, they won't attack you
atleast the brutesharks are really bad at turning around, very easy to juke
am I supposed to randomly come across the weird looking ||precursor structure with the architect voice|| in the twisty bridges?
Yes
soooo, what do I do with these ||ion cubes||?
do I automatically unlock ||ion|| batteries or smth?
They’re for certain recipes later on
I don’t believe so, not immediately
a few high capacity tanks and its time for me to explore ||mercury II|| : )
No need for multiple tanks, there are plenty oxygen plants there.
I plan to start diversifying the frost vase plants in my growbeds... I don't feel great about using entreset or spawning them, unfortunately, but I think that's probably a good idea.
oxygen plants inside the ship?
Yes
Quite a lot actually, enough to survive indefinitely if you have food and water
You just need to keep an eye on your o2
I'll bring some cured peepers and purified water first then.
I usually often bring a Seatruck for storage and o2, so that’s nice to park outside
do the squidsharks not attack my seatruck while I'm outside it?
When you aren't piloting it, nothing will. This is even true when you're inside.
Both do
I'll explore the furthest half just incase theres a squidshark
so I lose the least stuff if I die
lmao the cryptosuchus just disregard that I exist
I've only had them attack once in my whole playthrough
wait where is the ship again
relative to the pilots last known location
You can kinda see a floating piece with a growing lilypad
Go a little south if necessary
You can also see an alien cable
It "connects" the wreck to Omega
oh I know where the cable is already
I'll go find it and follow it back
nevermind the wreck was right next to me , I couldnt see it because its so damn foggy
oh look, a convenient little dock
wait wheres the other part of the ship
and can seatrucks outrun a squidshark?
I think so
One of them is in the PDA, the other one has a signal underneath
There are 3 parts
wheres the next piece of the ship
There's an Artifact signal in the purple vents area
The wreck is above the trench, near the Chelicerate
ah hell nah, wheres the other one
Lilypads area, near the cable
Jeremiah was underutilized.
is it the area that has an "anomalous" amount of rock?
and is there chelicerates in the lilypads
or only squidsharks and brute sharks
I think there is one in the border with East Arctic
anywhere near the lilypad wreck? I aint dealin with that
No, it's really far
how do I avoid the squidsharks in deep twisty bridges?
I'm tryna get a storage module
Through use of the boost and the jump module, I was able to drive the Snowfox up the ladder above ||Phi Robotics||.
Ooo, nice
Stop piloting. Or get hit and repair.
I wasnt planning to bring a seatruck, since I wont lose anything from before coming
and if my seatruck gets destroyed its gonna be a pain to craft a new one
@celest wolf they aren't that bad tbh, like most predators they'll choose smaller prey over you
also be aware that with a seaglide, you actually move faster the more movement keys you are pressing
that is, pressing 'w' is slower than pressing 'w' and 'd' while looking a bit to the left
and both are slower than pressing 'w' and 'd' and 'strafe up' while looking a bit to the left and down
with this technique, even just W and D, outrunning a squidshark that you've aggro'd is even easier
if you wanna look up how it works, google 'trichording', it's a well-documented thing in pretty much all 3D-movement games, and it's a thing in real life
i used to have a great gif showing how much faster duochording is in subnautica, it showed someone fleeing a reaper by holding 'w' and getting caught, then loading the same save and fleeing by holding 'w' and 'a' and easily escaping
it's like, 150% as fast or something like that
with trichording being like 170% i think? the third key doesn't give you nearly as much
but the squid sharks seem really lazy, idk, i never had any trouble with them and if i see one is in my path, i usually won't even go around it, i'll just go right next to it and they're usually just like 'meh, looks like too much trouble and i doubt it tastes good'
i started my below zero playthrough on december, got so burnt out from it that i still havent finished it
i've been really enjoying below zero, i always put it off because of that one video youtube kept recommending me, it was something like "why didn't below zero hold up to the original?" or something, i never watched it to avoid spoilers but i think it kinda poisoned my opinion
I'm sure a lot of people would have enjoyed it more without reading or hearing negativity about it.
i like how they used caves a lot more, it makes navigation feel a lot more of a challenge... with subnautica i feel like as soon as i got a feel for the overworld map, and where each biome was, i was instantly able to understand how everything connected up underground, and it was pretty much just a big upside-down pyramid
is there a point to getting rock grubs?
with below zero i've explored every biome and i still get totally lost, or pop out of a cave and realize i'm way, way far away from where i thought i would pop out
if you drop one, the lobster attacking you will switch targets
u mean the rock punchers?
i usually dedicate 1 or 2 slots to prey animals i can drop to distract a predator, but i don't know if it's actually worth doing that for the lobsters, im mostly thinking of squid sharks or leviathans
yeah whatever they're called lol
hey, that's one way you could deal with squid sharks
i think the only problem i had with below zero is the land contents
if you've got one chasing you, dropping a peeper is like, a guaranteed got-away-safely
ahh... i got that impression from some of the media coverage, and i've been studiously avoiding going above land
but i think i'm about to get to the part of progression where there's nothing to do
and i'll be forced to go on land
and i'm kinda dreading it
is it possible to squeeze your seatruck into koppa mining site?
there is this one part of the land progression that got me stuck for like 2 hours
yeah, there's a tunnel about 100m to the northwest with enough room
although it's a bit of a squeeze and you'll bang on the walls a bit
it's easier to find it from inside, if you don't already know where it is. just go inside and look northwest
is it possible to squeeze it through the gate entrance though
i don't think so
i think they specifically closed the doors just enough to make it impossible
so only enterable without vehicles (prawn suit doesnt count because its a mech)
talkin about the gate
but yeah not through that gate, but this tunnel is literally like, almost adjacent to the gate
if you built your base at the gate, having to travel isn't that bad
Yes, wiggling the cabin alone sideways through the top of the door
oh woah really
wait is there only 3 prawn suit fragments
i think so
if i recall correctly, you need koppa and also one other source of frags to finish the prawn suit
wheres the other one
there are a couple different options, but i recommend the mercury bow, its got a lot of other stuff you're probably missing hard if you're coming from a lategame subnautica save
||if you are trying to maximize efficiency, pick up the quest from marg on the way||
if you've been mostly hanging out to the north and west of the big middle island, maybe just go exploring to the east
u mean delta?
yeah
if you grabbed the facilities map, maybe meander on over towards omega, but be on the look out for other stuff on your path
which part of the map is it in
did you grab the facilities map? it was in delta station
is it one of the two on land?
no it's the one with the omega symbol, the horshoe
k
I'll explore koppa a bit more before going there
is there any prawn suit fragments at mercury II?
the bow
the mercury broke into 3 big pieces and they're spread across different biomes
is that the one near lilypads
but the bow has all of the goodies you'll be wanting
or the one near the chelicerate
||alien containment, large room, water filtration, and lots of thermal reactor fragments everywhere||
it's the one near lilypads
if you aren't like, trying to solve all the puzzles yourself, i'd just recommend taking the following route: ||go to marg's base, you've already got it beaconed as 'pilot's last location'. she will tell you to do something that means you'll have to go to all 3 segments of the mercury. go to bow, get the quest item + all blueprints. go to delta base, get everything. then go to deep lily pads until you get enough magnetite to max out a scanner room or two. then head back||
but that's like literally walkthrough levels of following a guide, don't click if you don't want that
oh woah you got a beacon for the anomalous rock formation? huh
no but my pda told me about one while I was exploring lilypads
the rock formation is dead-center of the lilypads zone, omega on your facilities map, the bow is southwest of there
any squidsharks I should be concerned about on the way there?
much worse
chelicerates?
yeah altho in the lilypad zone itself they're not that bad
my last hint before i clam up and stop possibly ruining your experience with too much info is: maybe go check out the pilot first
it's sorta on the way, is the only reason i recommend it
alr
or like, it represents a good landmark that will help you orientate yourself as you explore the eastern portion of the map
something like that
Only parts of the story I did are meeting the pilot at delta and finding the ||architect facility in twisty bridges||
ah so seamonkies are your friend now? you can use that to cheat out some magnetite way before you're supposed to have any, more than enough to make a scanning room
the first time a seamonkey brought me a chunk of magnetite i was legit dumbfounded
I already have some magnetite
oh cool you explored those deep lilypad caves then
I dont have alien containment so I cant hatch the sea monkey I found though
nope
oh huh. where'd you get magnetite?
also iirc if you pin a blueprint then sea monkeys vvill bring you ingredients of that blueprint if they can
^ yup, i deliberately pinned the scanning range upgrade because it only has 1 copper 1 magnetite and as far as i could tell, sea monkeys would bring me 50% copper and 50% magnetite
I think I found the magnetite near phi robotics, where the snow stalkers are
i ended up using the first magnetite i got to build a little scanning outpost in the deep lilypad caves, down where the lightning turns red, and then i sucked up all the magnetite i could find
then i built little scanner outposts in every biome
i am kinda doing everything i can possibly do before going up above ground, im dreading the arctic sections of this game lol. those parts of the map look so big and this is supposed to be an underwater game
cmon, everybody knows you need to use your first magnetite for a magnetic newtons cradle
the scanners come in handy so often though, being able to scan for leviathans so i can just see where they are on my HUD and not have to worry...
The arctic biomes are disorienting, but I found them enjoyable. The ||Glacial Basin|| is probably the section you will explore first; it's large, but broken into small sections, each with different characteristics.
i kinda wonder, like... i still have some ||alien artifact beacons|| to follow up on... will i be able to just ||build this alien his body and beat the game|| without ever investigating what happened to sam? can i literally just ignore my sister and never go above water lol
You need to visit a land biome called the ||Arctic Spires|| to find one of ||Al-an's components||. Unfortunately, you can ignore Sam's storyline, but I would suggest that you do not. Keep exploring, especially in the ||Glacial Forest||.
i also... hm. i feel a bit guilty for saying this. but the protag actually makes me want to defend alterra's point of view rofl. ||she's got a literal sapient alien entity in her head. why would she ever want to evict him. she could bring him back to civilization and be super rich. those altera guys were salivating over the chance of maybe finding some alien language related artifacts or biopatent-worthy specimens. protag's brain has to be the single most valuable object in the entire galaxy at this point. he could probably just straightforwardly tell her how to achieve biological immortality and antigravity and ion cube level energy storage and neural radiotelepathy, the true history of the galaxy, the history of his superadvanced civilization, EVERYTHING, and it doesn't even cross her mind||
||he's literally like "hey, why haven't you guys set up radio telepathy yet?" and she's like "well we prefer our privacy" instead of "we don't know how", and he explicitly points out how this is insane, and she's just like "meh". what she's found is absurdly valuable, and i don't just mean in the "alterra's stock price reached an all-time-high" value, i mean the "feed the hungry, heal the sick, clothe the naked" sense... and it just kinda doesn't occur to her, and i really do think it's because she sorta thinks "ugh that's what alterra would do if they were me"||
thanks for coming to my ted talk
I can see your point. However, I think ||AL-AN|| may have lost some of their information... Robin might also not want her brain to be a valuable object, as she doesn't know if they did something to Sam.
i guess that's a fair point but... idk. ||i just finished exploring delta base, at present it looks like marg blew up the base, probably after some kind of infoleak originating with sam's conversation with vinh about the mutation artwork. if i were protag, i'd definitely blame alterra for sam's death. i'd want to get back at them. i'd want revenge. i feel like... to have an entity with trillions of trillions of dollars of valuable information fall in my lap... if i'm the protagonist, i would immediately begin thinking of ways to leverage that value to get back at alterra. maybe start a new company seeded with valuable alien secrets to ensure it becomes a megacorp, then slowly choke alterra to bankruptcy... or something like that. the fact that protag never even, like, jokes about it, feels so... ugh. c'mon girl. you've been handed the keys to the kingdom. heroically deciding not to use them to wreak havoc is one thing, but it feels more like she doesn't even realize they're valuable. i just want to throw her into an alterra employee personal mindset training seminar or make her read some ayn rand, and i can't believe i'm saying that||
stuff like this did cross my mind i agree like. especially after ||you scan stuff at the cache with the architect skeleton and the pda tells you how the purpose of this thing can only be speculated Girl!!! you literally have one in your head that was just telling you things about the same place like just ask!!! it's not like theyre terribly busy!!!||
why is my pet brute shark so fussy
I found the last fragment, I just didnt explore koppa mining site enough
Whats the structural requirements of the seatruck dock and moonpool?
i know that i put a large room and put 8 reinforcements on it, and that was sufficient to have a moonpool, seatruck dock, and scanning room at about -600
...oh also there was a foundation, now that i think about it
it might even have been super overkill, i have no idea, i put the large room down first
You can see the integrity value on left top corner of screen every time you build or remove something which affects integrity
yeah i know, i just didn't pay attention lol. i got in the habit when i was making megabases in the original game, just throw down a bunch of hallways or something where you can put infinite reinforcements, and do it before you start building the rest so you don't have to ever repair
also i can't remember if depth makes reinforcements/foundations less effective, or if it decreases the integrity of other stuff. like, which factor does it scale?
less integrity, or larger integrity requirements?
Yes, depth has a multiplier value for negative integrity effects, but not positive, so deeper bases require more reinforcements/bulkheads/foundations than same base layout on shallower area
they are sharing plans of early access for the next sn game sometime this year
I highly doubt they'd have early access on switch, or really any console
no idea when subnautica 3 will even be considered. the next subnautica game however, what maddy said.
Technically, it will be subnautica 2 since below zero is a spin-off
no it isn't.
it's subnautica: below zero, not subnautica 2: below zero.
wdym have i been lied to??!??! 😮
but they don't need to put the 2 in
it goes subnautica then subnautica below zero?!
but it's not subnautica 2.
but it's also by unkown worlds how is it a spinoff
right?
i guess yohr right but idk
it's a separate game set in the same universe, with callbacks to the original game. it is not a direct sequel to the events of the first game.
so, not part 2
if it makes it simpler to understand, think of sn as the first iron man movie, and bz as captain america movie. both are in the same universe, but captain america movie is not iron man 2.
ok
I only used 3~ reinforcements
and that was enough for my whole base
Note that John mentioned his base being around 600m deep.
My base needs a ton of reinforcements
new day, new nick!
Right, this time they can't call me a man of culture
woman of gaming
Someone really called 'she' a man of culture... How does this happen?
ma'am of culture
not reading
how am i supposed to go through the glacier areas when i die every 5 seconds because of the ||worm leviathan thing||
it kills me, and then the snowfox is just left there and i can never get it back
i swear i hate this game sometimes
so the eastern route up, is mostly worm free
other than that, bring a lot of medkits and repair tool
Snowfox isn't ideal here. So, walking or prawn
and then u enter the area
am i meant to use prawn in that area?
right after the bridge, go up to the right, in a tunnel. Eastern route
meant to? no, but it works
So does walking
i also got my other prawn stuck on the top of the glacier area and i can never get it back lmao
its js a ruin
i ran out of battery in a really bad area
ok well i'll js use my prawn then
i dont rlly even like the snowfox to be honest
to reduce time here, I have a map of the spires. it's spoilery for all locations here
This
i think so
But is there collateral damage?
I'm afraid my Pengwings will die because a Snow Stalker walked nearby
I only see the damage on vehicles and the player.
where are screenshots saved? im on epic games
In the save folder, I think:
%userprofile%\AppData\LocalLow\Unknown Worlds\Subnautica Below Zero\SubnauticaZero\SavedGames
Big things with teeth = not friendly. Got it
thanks since i wanted to post some screenshots here i made (Containt spoilers for biomes and leviathans)
Okay, this Pengling got hit by an entire Ice Worm attack, and walked it off. I suppose they don't get damaged.
“Pain is an illusion”
Just me or does building seem to be a very big thing in bz?
or hes just american and doesnt wanna pay healthcare bill 💀
Idk i just built a moonpool and a large room so that i could make vehicle upgrades
Everything is drastically cheaper in comparison to the first
I havent played the first part but i must agree its cheap
You know the Thingy bars?
(Can't remember the name of the metal now)
titanium?
10 per bar?!!!
Now it’s 5. Granted it’s not as easy to access early on tho.
Anddd my game just crashed..
Sigh
Damn Architect Sanctuary
I just lost so much progress
Insert fury of curse words here
i feel its alot easier, you get metal from EVERY outcrop
I agree
Only hard thing to find so far has been silver honestly
yeah but argentinite is plentyful at delta
Penty of silver in thermal spires and in the arctic kelp caves (seamonkey caves). Later you will get drillable silver ore.
The metal salvage is just much more quicker to collect early on in SN
true
but you need power for that, all outcrops having it feels more early game accessable
What on earth is this recipe for enameled glass?!?
is different, is what
no stalker teeth so
1x Glass
1x Lead
1x Diamond
I meant it is expensive
NAH MAN I was trying to get to the || fabrication facility || and i swear i forgot everything || to build allan a body|| im done
worst type of pain
I will now be heading back to my base and going offline for the day i lsot all my motivation
may need vergil to give me some
xd
Used to be x1 stalker tooth and x1 glass
But there is no stalker teeth available, so the fabricator has modified the recipe based on available components
finally got "Rite of The Deep" on spotify
Trying to figure out how I disable the Satellite
Wait fr!?
wait how
i need to know
that's crazy
you can allow spotify to pull from local files from your pc, so you download the song on like youtube or something, and you can play it
just open spotify ctrl + p and toggle
after that you can add it to any playlist
Why did bro get muted? 💀
Someone hasn't learned...
did he got muted again bcs gif?
So the song is still not on Spotify, sadness
Lol seatruck funni
lil guy 💖
Poor sharkie ;-;
sharkie is now in a better world. of isekai
so sadge
For a long time
Enlighten me on what in all that is holy is the massive squid jelly fish looking swine in front of me
It is the almighty vent garden.
I decided to go around the mountain and down, I am now inside a mining system ???
Mhm yes, stuck in a net :D
Cool, you found Koppa, marked in your map
does omega have the bulkhead? I'm trying to protect the rest of my base from the glass corridors, incase they break
yep
alright
seatruck dock but still no vanilla cyclops dock : (
or cool looking prawn suit dock
are rockgrubs able to be bred in alien containment? could be useful for my bioreactor
Yes, but they are awful fuel
should I use my ||Ion cubes|| for 2 ||quantum|| lockers or save it
I think you only need 1 quantum
but then theres no point to having it
There is
the point of it is to share storage tho
You can build an extra one in need of emergency
Oh, you mean
Oh right, you can use it that way too
if theres only one then why use it instead of waterproof locker
wait quick question, could you just deploy the quantum locker and pick it back up
without there being another one
like mobile storage
If you're in imminent death, you can drop it with your valuable items, and then access them in your base
I'll only really need to do that with recently acquired items
If you are in imminent death then you are probably gonna die before you can put anything inside…
I just realized the cured texture is broken on most fish. They look so silly
I think it's just opening the inventory and dropping it
Red transparent film on top of the fish and boom, its cured
SN fish still have the right texture
They did the same with the cooked texture
? Does it pick up items automatically or smthn
idk how that got messed up lol, its literally just the same code with different creatures, vehicles, map, and story
No, but you probably put your things in it if you're afraid you might die
It's probably to save resources
They didn't develop actual new textures
Ah ok imminnent and afraid of death are completely different
wdym? it makes sense if the cured texture is the same as in the original
They're reusing the old textures for the returning fish, while the new ones only have a transparent film on top
If you're afraid, you put them in it. If it's imminent, you drop it.
where do you find the ribbon plant?
ive been looking for it every where,to get its seed for a battery
twisty bridges is a good place to find ribbon plants
how do I get there
200~ from spawn
derection?
north
Thanks bro
straight ahead from spawn point
you can also find them in the small caves
okay thanks 😄
should I go deeper or higher when avoiding squidsharks?
Away from them
alright
I'm gonna go look for the next part of the mercury II
how often do squidsharks even attack? I've gone right above one in the deep twisty bridges and they just decided to chill in place
Can oxygen plants refill your air bladder?
Is the script for the original story anywhere?
with the ending that's not in early access 8.1
The ending is not available, but you can still access the old story in a previous version
moment
I hate this area
pengwing kill
One, that could benefit from spoiler tags. Two, this is #below-zero-chat .
oops
lmao I just went right next to a chelicerate leviathan and it just disregarded that I was there. I'm in a prawn suit, maybe it doesnt like the taste of compressed titanium and lithium ¯_(ツ)_/¯
unlocked afterburner and grappling arm in a cave full of friendly sea monkeys : D
Do you think they'd ever make the script available or know anything about where they might have decided not to at some point?
Obviously they changed gears, and I’d assume there is zero chance of them going back to finish something they changed their mind about.
I mean the script
I don't know why they wouldn't have it written when they were just waiting for 1.0 before they added it to the game
im just starting below zero after beating the original game and one thing i notice right away is the level of guidance
it feels like ur being told exactly what to do
that seems to be a common complaint in reviews yes
it holds your hand way more with everything from oxygen/heat sources everywhere to signal markers to characters saying what you did/have to do out loud
yeah id agree it's not too bad
i mean even with all the pointers and my previous knowledge i died several times and also had a great time playing despite everything
why is there an eyeless jelly in a spires biome (The one where delta island is)
Do brutesharks become friendly when you hatch and release them?
Could that be juvenile ventgraden?
Everything you hatch from eggs and release, is passive towards player, but not necessarily towards your vehicles
its not a hollow jellyfish
bout the size of the ones with the eyes
but without an eye
outcrops
ye but like which ones
just experiment, outcrops are really common in the twisty bridges
I believe its argentite outcrops that have silver but I dont really pay attention to the name
oh ok
be wary of brute sharks
oh...
and if you go into deep twisty bridges you'll run into a squid shark
but its a good early game source of diamonds
You can find silver in the Twisty Bridges pretty easily, can't remember which outcrop. If you scan outcrops however, it tells you what you have a chance of getting from them, so I'd do that whenever you see one.
It is argenite outcrops that give silver, but i believe sandstone outcrops can aswell
as mentioned by other people, both are relatively common in the twisty bridges
@naive cedar If we want to continue our discussion we need to continue it here.
yes
So what are your thoughts on the original creatures in BZ?
When I say original I mean like,,, Brute Sharks, Spinners, ect.
Overall, they were great but some just left me wishing for more, like the brute shark because i think more could have been done with the design
and the leviathans felt dry
the shadow leviathan is pretty much a glorified centipede with a battering ram for a head
Also, my cat is in the bathtub playing with the curtains
I really like the designs but I also wish they incorperated more of the OG Subnautica creatures in it. I know that they wanted more original creatures but the arctic counterparts of certain creatures were way cooler than what we got imo.
I get hate for this but
Crested Reaper >> Dumb Chelicerate
Arctic reefback < Ventgarden
omg if Alex Ries was in this server I would kiss his boot omg.
who?
Ok, then i would too lol
also, i did know the crested reaper concept
just cuz I'm a sucker for concept art
Eeehhhh nah not IMO. I mean if the Vent Garden appeared more, I'd totally agree, but myeh.
my cat is still playing in the bathtub
Something I really want to see is a HUGE area for Subnautica 2, but we get to see a lot more of the originality and detail that Below Zero had.
I also want a Silent Protag game. I like SIlent Protag games more, yk, so we can project ourselves.
did you sign the petition for my cat to be in subnautica 2?
also, yeah, below zero has the more alien feel i think, but combining that with the alien parts of subnautica would be really cool
also, my cat would be really cool!
Send me it!!:D
We need that cat in Subnautica 2
Make the cat the main character.
yes.
he jump up on your shoulder and meows at good resources
like a pokemon
he is just a cute bean
You know what I really want most of all secretly.
what
They need to make this the main theme for the Subnautica franchise
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OaqF8EG0noE
Videojuego: Subnautica Below Zero
Música: Steve Pardo
The Below Zero trailer song did NOT need to go this hard!
Sorry, I'm doing something else rn.
Im gonna try out Below Zero in a bit, give it another chance I guess. I've been pretty hard on it.
lol
Ngl what you said was probably why I disliked BZ, it was just too different than Subnautica for me.
You compared Ventgardens and Reefbacks in #subnautica-switch. I wouldn't say that's very fair - one of them is present in half the biomes, the other only appears 4 times, in their own signature biome
Yes. This time, it's not survival, it's mystery solving and such. More reading, less going deep. You get plants quite early, so survival is almost always guaranteed.
I think what I would've liked more is that the story could've progressed like Subnautica's did. You start off slow, shallow. You're in more safe areas before eventually the progression and the game leads you to go more deep. In Below Zero, it's very similar, but the biomes and creatures aren't as threatening.
The only time I felt scared in Below Zero was going down to ||rebuild AL-AN's body||
Yea, it lost the fear factor, but in turn was able to make really beautiful areas/creatures
I totally agree! I really wish we could have gotten a mix of the two, however.
Below Zero has a lot going for it in the creature and biome area, the fauna and flora are all super cool (except for the stinky Chelicerate) and really fun to explore, but like you said, a lot of the fear factor was lost.
Going down to the ||Fabricator Caverns...? Is that what the area's called? I completely forgot LMFAO|| was way less scary than going into the ||Lost River||. My fear mainly came from the Shadow Leviathan.
Below zero worth the purchase?
I rag on it a lot but... tbh, definetly worth checking out!
ah so like a dlc?
It isn't a DLC.
Yeah ik
It's an adjacent story, and takes a different approach to gameplay and storytelling
wb the horror aspect
Requires a lot more PDA reading and mystery solving
Definetly not as good as Subnautica's.
It's gorgeous, beautiful, absolutely stunning not scary.
aw
Like... by a long shot.
☝️!
It's not as scary but it's got a really lovely environment.
The map is better detailed and less sparse
The creatures are more unique (no more dozens of eels)
The map and creatures are the best part of the game imo.
oo kinda like that
Base building is enhanced by a lot
I said before I think but I really want Subnautica 2 to give us more squid/octopus like creatures.
Trust me if you want a great environment to explore, definetly play Below Zero.
or just creatures with unique abilities
All the biomes are unique in their own way.
But remember that it is not a survival-first game like SN
It's mostly a story game with survival aspects
#subnautica-chat message if this is the case
Then who's|| Marguerit|| in below zero
@steel shoal
Uh
She's uh
She's just the delivery woman dwdw she's not the same as the woman from Subnautica.
Because in #subnautica-chat we don't spoil below zero content, so in that chat Marquerit is presumably dead
It's a plot-twist
Her being alive is something a player would not expect
hey handsome
Uh oh, Morty! SPOILERS! /ref
bro are u an AI
Im gonna say that every time there's no spoiler tags istg 💀
why u talk like that rahh
Why would you say I'm an AI 💀 also please spoiler your messages that have BZ spoilersi n them
wheres the spoiler
||this||
You needed to put a spoiler when you ||discussed AL-AN||
WHERE
...
I DONT RECALL
😎
anyways wh why did you assume I was an AI 💀
wtf is /ref
This is surely a conversation lol.
Anyways, Pengwings are immune to Ice Worm damage!!
/reference. I was referencing something.
And they do not trigger Worm attacks
can u use them in the bio reactor? just askin
Why?
Man I need to educate people on tone tags (SO SIT BACK AND TAKE NOTES! /lyr)
They're awful fuel, but they're organic

It's not a funny joke
They aren't that good of fuel.
how do u know
...
u criminal
I've commited things I regret in my past...

what the hell
Dahahawg this is a family friendly server
I'm not going to answer but its obvious
I am really
really really uncomfy with this convo...
/hj
Anyway, the theory for how || Marguerit Maida || Survived is that when she was in the jellyshroom caves and was dragged away by a reaper, she killed it and ate it from the inside as it floated to a safe area, eating it gave her the immunity that reapers have to the khaara.
auctually i should have spoilered all of that
oops
Reapers are not immune.
S p o i l e r s .
They originally did, they just never added the variant in.
Dahahawg don't bypass th swear filter 💀
I mean... that doesn't mean they still cant get infected.
That doesn't exactly mean they're immune.
Also we ought to move this to #subnautica-chat
yeh
how do i disable the other opening
i dont want two openings right next to each other
maybe deconstruct the empty room, in the other room build a window/enforcement/green wall/water station in the opening you don't want, then build the 2nd large room again
i was hoping the room they are standing in has little to nothing in it
I'll do that, thanks
oh, well if the room that you are in is empty then do that
Will the Game get a Steam Deck Verify and I have a GTX 3060 and i7 3800x and 32 GB RAM is it enough for the game?
more than enough
What should I take with me to koppa mines?
Lasercutter and empty inventory. Prawn if you have.
And if i just started?
Then you go as you are, scanner of course. And big O2 tank, two of those if you want, seaglide. Park the seatruck in front of the door and go in.
Ok thanks
Can i go with seatruck in?
Not through the door. Some people say you can by wiggling yourself in. There are two hidden side entrances for seatruck.
I just beat Below Zero for the first time and amazing game i must say
Excellent, did you ||cure the frozen leviathan||?
the what
Do you know where are they?
The ||fronzen leviathan in phi excavation site||?
Yes
oh yeah
Can you tell me where?
This video shows the ways in & out of the Koppa Mining Site. Front doors, and the upper and lower lava geyser pathways, starting from Delta Station Dock. Short, sweet, and efficient, I hope it can help anyone who needs it.
Delta Station Dock: -129 / 4 / -577 || Koppa Mining Site Main Doors: -383 / -143 / -817
Remember to Be Kind, Stay Legendar...
Thank you
But you should do it the normal way first, otherwise no fun. There is not need for the seatruck in the beginning and once you have the prawn, that is going in quite easily.
Ok
hi chat
does releasing a rock puncher after hatching make it friendly?
I believe so, yeah.
👋ellooo
Yes, but it won't dig up rocks
and do sea monkeys stay near where you dropped them like a cuddlefish, so you can just have a pet sea monkey?
Will anyone talk about how we can grab a random uranite rock and just refine it into a reactor rod just like that?
We talked about it before. The fabricator rearranges everything from the atom level. Which makes little sense sometimes but yea. Most of the times, it'd just explode.
if its re arranging it then how does it refine it unless it is re arranging the subatomic particles aswell
because uranium 235 is the fissionable isotope used in nuclear reactors, it has an extra neutron relative to uranium 234 (depleted uranium) so unless it can add a neutron by some process then it doesnt work
and neutrons split atoms so it would just make the uranium undergo fission while printing
Why doesnt uranium cause radiation damage? Because its a game
it wouldnt be very fun if you could only craft depleted reactor rods
do you need to repair seatruck modules individually or do they all repair at the same time?
individually
oh
Honestly the seatruck dock is pretty cool when you get modules for it
so you can just chill in your seatruck without being in constant danger of a brute shark pushing it below crush depth
who can tell me whats wrong in this picture :))
you don't really fit in this small cave
101*C water not boiling
oh that. Well, water under pressure can go over 100C
why does lilypads have so many aquarium module fragments
but not enough of the other ones to even unlock them
36m below surface? i dont think so XD
are you in a thermal vent or smth?
some place at glacial basin
why can i pick them up if i cant eat them
Do you eat lead also?
16m and 102
new record XD
rockgrubs are a pretty good bioreactor fuel if you collect them in bulk
can yall get off of the fragment so i can scan it
these are not so dangerous
he just punched me after i scanned the fragment
come back in a prawn suit and punch the lobster back
maybe you got too close]
XDD
i was at a fair distance and he jumped and punched me
come back in a prawn suit and get revenge
and steal their eggs
rock puncher❌
mike tyson crab✅
I thought its a lobster
it is
bro hes literally guarding itttt
hes trying to see if it fits
they aren't that ferocious. just dodge
i did that once
I released him and he was tiny lol
Actually he just grew
when i released him
im trapped
how did you get in then?
i squeezed my way in
no... go in the top of the door, wiggle out sideways. Save first
go side ways
squeeze out then
Also, ther'es a hole in the main ceiling...
I'm going back to koppa as soon as I get a drill arm for my prawn
gj
i also got some native fish so my rock puncher feels at home
grubs, red feather fish, triops
I released my rockpuncher on top of my base and it jumped into the twisty bridges
I think it wanted to fight my 2 pet brutesharks
I probably should've made a second alien containment, one for food and the other for pets
Can you get across the bridge with the prawn suit jetpack?
no
you can build a base up by the side to skip the hydralic fluid
yes u can
i did like 2 times already, even without the upgrade
Also - how mouch would you guys build solar panels to keep running only on them? like no other power source - only sonar panels
bc i think i did quite enough for me
Spoiler for the photo: ||it took like 4h but worth it; gives 4575 energy||
not really a spoiler that, but fine
i just sleep
sleeper module or a bed
thats not bad actually
good idea, not using any energy while charging
is it possible to store your seatruck modules somewhere?
or do you need to attach the modules and then put them in the dock
you just leave them floating outside
oh ok
If you are using them, they go in the dock
so whats the essential modules for travelling over long distances?
fab, storage
alr
I'll also do the prawn suit dock so I can actually fight back if a leviathan or somethin comes
its not like I can run away
ah, perimeter defense. Learn to use
am i dead? Hardcore, outside of viechicle, hit but not registered by the game. Inner caves biome
ok im not
probably not. But I hope you have a medkit
I think it does 70 or 75 damage. Really close
ofc i dont :))
it ate my prawn suit. I saw it in the distance like 200m and moved it a litte far from my suit to scan those red walls, and it suppirsed me
75 yea. Good that i have this mechanic from minecraft to be always full and preparied
It's 80 damage, I believe.
was the prawn empty at the time?
yea
- just checked the wiki
health looks about 77. So 80 is bad news
it did 60 or so then
75 i just healed a bit
Ah, you're right. I think I got confused with a different leviathan.
shadow leviathan? I never thought they were dangerous in my playthrough
I would never recommend hardcore btw. Excellent way to waste your time lol
i can just pause, copy the files and be like the old one XD
i just have to copy them rn...
heh. Not cheating hardcore, no no
oh, for it to save, you actually have to quit
it does not save before that
with sea truck i just zap them as soon as they want to start the attack animation
so imma do it rn...
yeah
on steam, save is in the game folder, SNappdata. To be able to EDIT there, you should be in the main menu ingame
if not, steam will just undo it
you could reload a save if you are not attempting that already
~~no reload, ~~no save in hardcore
why are the squidsharks in deep twisty bridges just chill?
not attackin me at all
same aggression as a damn cryptosuchus
1 punch in a prawn suit is enough for them to run away
constantly getting stuck
reload?
so what is the point of playing hardcore if you are just gonna cheat the system anyways?
i mean i just do it in case
like meatie mentioned - its a waste of time, so why not to make it not a waste of time
but if i dont managed to do it on time - i die
nah. I almost died throught a bug where i left the seatruck and it registered im on land (im in the water btw, just a bug). I just quickly saved a game, and copied the files. If i didnt do it i would be gone
and it happened 20 sec ago so yk
Thom if he played Below Zero...
You can convert your game type in options, Game options. This makes it a custom game
Custom game is the real hardcore
I think Hard-core should be renamed to Ephemeral Mode, as it's not any harder.
i want advancements tho
Hardcore is not the way for a first playthru
You did not repair. You suffer consequences.
You can repair immediately, because attacks have a cooldown
Iiterally get out immediately, don't drive off first
Hehe, jokes on you. I drove off immediately and got back to my twisty bridges base
should i get below zero
Did you play the first game?
yes
Then yes.
yes, but we might be biased, because we are here
Shhhh
will it give me the dopamine of the first game
Really, this is my favorite game. But replayability isn't great
subnautica's replayability isnt rivaled for me
Mm, some parts yes
and try to go slow, dont immediately go to where the game wants you, explore
technically they also get food out of this
but i saw the seatruck and i really loved the seamoth originally
The Seatruck is awesome
im indifferent about it
it is. It can grow long
i hope it can fit the prawn
Just like a-
it docks really nicely
come on do something
:)))
Takes 1-3 days
it can, once you find the module
At least in the previous it did
is it just an adjustable cyclops??
so i just need to sleep for a bit
Thats called time wasting
no its nimble like the seamoth
Go outside and explore for a while
More like a long Seamoth
andylandy whatever your name changes everytime i meet you
I'm afraid it will change again 😔
I am afraid too
what? is it gonna be man now
if the ||cubes|| now have a power meter thing, does that mean any ||architect device|| i activate have a time limit until the ||cube|| goes to waste
you gonna change your name to "subnautica is a fish game"??
no. it's more like a battery, but only for one usage
and i agree, subnautica is just a game about fishing
Big fishing
devs do call it "fish game"
i should have never slept on quartz💀 time to go hunt
The name was to make people stop misgendering me, until I was called "she, a man of culture"
this is my neighbor thomas, hes lived with me ever since i started my base, he's a very kind fellow and likes to give me rocks
How generous
Hello Thomas
just name yourself the name of your pet ai you keep
Sure thing
You are very efficient lol
if the answer to this one question is yes, i'll get below zero
is there a sparse reef-like biome
If you mean the ||teather tool of the teleportation module, yes, that one consumes 1/3 of an ion cube for each use, so after three uses the cube is gone. Thats why the tool is of so little use. You can avoid that by deconstruction the teather tool before and craft an ion battery, that restores the cube||. Any other ion cube device does not consume the cube or it can be simply recharged. Headlamp has infinit power and batteries and cells have 5x the power and can be recharged. Also the recyclotron does not consume the ion cube at all.
what is this place called
twisty bridge canyon
no, wait that's deep twisty bridges
canyon is the place above it
he is inspired by the mantis shrimp. Research this tiny badass creature, is really cool
makes me want to pick up below zero again just to make another base and have a rock puncher pet
also we should be able to build in vent gardens
fight me
rock punchers are my favorite fauna
if you want your neighbor to be the giant carnivorous shrimp leviathan then sure
chelicerate?
no, vent gardens
i already have a base in the purple spires
The vent gardens are the massive octopus creature that live over thermal spires to absorb the nutrients, they have spiral plants in them and you can go inside them through their mouth
BRO
i didnt even realize i was in chelicerate territory and i stepped out of my truck to grab ruby💀
Everyone over reacts to leviathans
Chelicerates are harmless, reapers are predictable, ghosts are avoidable, shadows are cute
i build bases around leviathans because the danger gives me adrenaline and acomplishment. I have conquered the depths
after you get perimiter defence youre basically god in bz
how do i activate that again
i unintentionally do it at random
even without, i just swerve to avoid the leviathans and just run
are you using a keyboard?
yes
press the button you have it assinged 1-4 and press lmb
press the number key for the slot, then click
Me neither, but that doesn't change the fact that you do need to be careful.
A short fire will cancel an attack. You can also hold and charge
to damage creatures
ya it wasn't really necessary to have
I'm afraid I'll accidentally kill the leviathan near my base :c
check memes and media everyone
yeah same
and i dont want to kill my chelicerate or my shadow leviathan in either of my bases
imagine if we could tag creatures raised in containment so we can identify them in the wild
World would be at peace
i just created a prawn suit out of a 0/100 power cell
wait that actually had consequences
lmao thats clever
no loopholes
Are ||swim charge fins|| worth it?
probably
struggling to find materials for the habitat tool
They’re a nice to have, saves recharging batteries as much.
yeah they arent even expensive is the nice thing
you
